Blog Subject:  I'm Always Outside

Well, I'm usually outside when I'm posting things, so I thought I'd show you exactly where I'm at when I am posting. Now mind you, this little area isn't quite done. It needs some shelves for potted plants, some wall decorations (I'm thinking a fountain!) and a little shelf to put my stereo on because its almost always going out there as well. This is the small slab of concrete by my garage. I'm going to paint the cement there too, in a hand done carpet type scenario. We got the patio furniture super cheap... we had a half off coupon while Matt worked at the DC and bought it end of season while it was half off anyhow (so we paid like 1/4 of its actual worth). He won the fire pit for going 200 days being safe without an accident at the same place. I just recently got the shepards hooks which I totally love. One has an enormous flower basket on it (which I love) and ones got a bird feeder that's always cleaned out. The view opposite the building is my lawn overlooking the pasture. The two twin evergreens are going to have twinkle lights in them to illuminate the place at night. There's a larger firepit on the lawn (perfect for dancing around) and the small run near the pad (you can see it between the garage and barn) usually has a horse in it to eat down the grass when we are outside. I'm trying to slowly get my home so that going and being home is like a vacation onto itself.

This is looking at it from my front porch. The other view is looking at the seating area by the barn.

Blog Subject:  Strangely Absent

I've been strangely absent for a few days. I told Misha why, but the truth is our chickies were outgrowing their rabbit cage. We desperately needed to build them something else that was larger until their main coup outside was finished. It's perhaps going to take a while since Matt has decided to make it something special. I think hes getting as attached to the chickens as I am. Anyhow, it was a group effort. Matt constructed, and I painted. I put the wire on the sides and he put the top wire on. What do you think?

Oh, and I added a candid shot of my little ones that aren't ready to go in with the bigger chickies. We now have 6 Rhode Island Reds (one's a Rooster cause suspitiously my naked butted little sweetie just grew red combs - still no feathers on his rump though). I might call him Giovanni. :) And the rest of the hens are doing well.

Then we have four Americanas. They are pretty cool because they lay blue, green, and sometimes pink eggs. On top of that we have two Australorps from Australia that are black hens with iridescent bluish green feathers. The two Australorps are in with the Americanas who have been treating them nicely even though there's more than a week in age difference atm.

So the good news is this. Since we were building all weekend, I got all my outdoor stuff done for the pre-Misha visit... furniture is out, flowers weeded, lawn in tip top shape... even though I have to work sunday ( yea for an entire day of full OT!!! ) I'm still going to have nothing but time to finally post up all the stuff I've gotten done for Mizahar....

Blog Subject:  Serious Business

The naming of chickens is serious stuff. I mean seriously, names are important. All our pets have names. We have beautiful little chickies happily scratching away in my husbands office until their big enough to go outside, and they need names. I can already tell them apart. There's the little mean one who's got Napoleon's syndrome. There's the big one with streaks on her head thats already getting pecked. Theirs the really good one at balancing who's sorta the clutch clown. My husband and I were passing suggestions around yesterday, after we went to bed. Its really the only time we get to 'talk' and see each other these days. He's at work before I get up, and I'm home after hes good and exhausted and needing to go to bed. I kept setting him off into fits and giggles. "We could name them after stars." Vega, Orion, etc.... and we deemed too pretentious. "We could name them after other animals..." After he decided he wanted to name one Cow and one Chicken after the cartoon. I had suggested Mable and Gertrude as a name for two of them, in which case he laughed at me. We threw around Dog, Skunk, Pig, and discarded it. Our favorite was naming them after music stars... the rooster would be "Prince". Then we could have Shania, Britanny, Madonna, Alanis, Selene, etc... you get the idea. That set him off into more fits and giggles.

We're still working on the names. Hes busy himself working on the Chicken Palace, so it will be ready when the pullets are. We had an old barn that collapsed from all the flooding and snow in the previous years, so my husband is taking all that carefully preserved wood and using it to build this giant 10X16 chicken house. It might be overkill, but these hens will be the most pampered hens on the block.

But one things for certain. Baby chickens are sooo adorable. They are tons of fun and cute to boot. They crawl all over you, and are so incredibly busy that its not even funny....

Blog Subject:  The First Blog - Who knows what to say first?

It's true. I just read Tarot's post and sit here marveling how right he is. He said 'It sure is a lot of work making a website.' We don't feel a tenth of it because the lions share of the work in his hands. But l can tell you something that's more than true. There's a real pleasure, a complete and utterly wonderful pleasure, in creating something with people you really respect and love - and I can say that totally unashamed because its so true. I've been excited. I've been thrilled. I feel like I'm more free to do whatever it is that Mizahar needs without a big brother shadowy tyrant looking over my shoulder. Instead I just have GP, Liminal, Cayenne, Gillar, and the intrepid Colombina standing there grinning. I hope they feel me standing behind them cheering them on and grinning as well.

The wiki is... astonishing. I never quite got the 'must develop lore' before we develop the game concept until I actually made my first entry. Then Tarot opened our eyes to how powerful a wiki could actually be in terms of development and we've never looked back. The only problem with the wiki is that its addictive. I can't let red links lie red. I didn't realize how tired I was of clinging to a sinking ship filled with angry sailors who worked on a system that was band-aids on top of band-aids on top of band-aids until I took the leap and realized that together, the founders circle, had all the skills necessary to really do a unique gaming system the right way.

And this feels so 'right way' ish. I'm proud of what we've accomplished here. Tonight is going to be devoted to such things as finishing the Akalak, touching up Gnosis... and introducing some gnosis/skill writeups. I have healing, medicine, and herbalism done and they can be added to the site.
