A simple man's thoughts on starting a character in a new world

I am a simple man, I have simple thoughts on this issue though many from my time tabletop role-playing. I will try do less waxing poetically than normally as well though I find this helps me write.
I almost always start my first character as inexperienced with the world. I do this for many reasons. The first being as my mind is constantly racing I can grow impatient very quickly when there is something I want to get involved in. This type of character I find helps as usually even if I don't know everything about a game, my character wouldn't know everything anyway so it aids getting into that first character while you explore a new world.
I also find the curiosity of these characters tends to make me want to learn more about the world and helps aid with that. If you are truly want to make believable character you need to live, breathe and cry with them. If you can't feel for your character why is anyone else going too. I read that somewhere and describes my character role-playing and writing style well.
My characters are like my children, I want to see where there lives takes them. It is an escape for me allowing me to air feelings I never could to others as a man. I don't need their lives to be happy or sad, merely their own, guided by their own choices.
This style has many flaws. I annoy people with stupid questions that seem obvious as I would rather be sure than wrong. I make many mistakes but try to overcome them with my willingness to learn. The...
