The storm had hit; Knorr had yanked a frightened Lyra into his cabin and slammed the door. Huge waves were splashing over the deck as the crew of the Tsana battled to carry out their duties during the massive howling gale. The sailors seemed experienced and most seemed to have some idea of how to survive the storm.

Knorr saw a wild-eyed cabin boy stagger up the ladder coils of rope in his hand, he ran towards a sailor standing at the mask. He suddenly he looked to the port side of the boat, he stood paralyzed in fear at something Knorr couldn’t see out of his tiny window. The poor lad just screamed, a sound Knorr was unfamiliar with and chilled him to the bone. The wave crashed over the deck and all that was left of the cabin boy was the ropes he was carrying.

Knorr’s door burst open and a haggard looking Withers barked, “Stay put! You two are no sailors”. Knorr was more than happy to follow the captain’s orders. Half an hour passed and Knorr and Lyra had become slightly more adjusted to the massive rocking on the ship. Knorr stood up from where he had been sitting on the floor and looked through the porthole and a sense of dread welled up in him. The biggest wave he had ever seen moving towards the boat.
The world felt like it was moving in slow motion, Knorr grabbed his book bag and slug the strap over his shoulder. Then, in one massive step, he rushed and yanked Lyra out of her bed and shielded her from the wave with his massive body.
Then the wave hit. The wall of the cabin exploded, the water dragged Knorr and Lyra down into the murky depths of the Suavan Sea.

It had taken them almost eight hours however Knorr had finally managed to claw his way to shore. Lyra had clung to Knorr’s back throughout their shared ordeal. Luckily the two castaways had drifted up the coast, Knorr figured that the storm must have been blowing the Tsana had come from behind them because he could see the spires of Syliras in the gloom. ...

Lyra

It had been 11 days since Knorr had boarded the Tsana, he knew he might die on this voyage but he didn’t realize he would die of boredom. Knorr had boarded the ship with an optimistic view that he would be able to learn human culture to better prepare him for Syliras. When they cast off however the only passenger, other than Knorr himself, that had boarded the Tsana was a twelve-year-old human girl named Lyra. Knorr searched for Captain Withers and found him having a smoke on the quarter deck, “Ah Knorr! I trust you found your quarters satisfactory!” opened Withers.
“They are indeed satisfactory” replied Knorr impassively.
“Well, how can I help you?” inquired the captain
“How many other passengers are there?” said Knorr getting straight to the point.
“Well, there is you, Lyra and Mr. Ironside who unfortunately was the victim of a stabbing in a tavern brawl last night and is unfit to sail with us today.” Withers returned
“So only me and the girl?”
“Yes”
“Captain Withers, what exactly is the Tsana’s cargo?”
“He haul cargo for the Nitrozian family from Ravok, and while I cannot reveal the exact contents of the hold I can say we aren’t laden with precious jewels that Svenfran pirates might be interested in. If that’s is what you are asking.” Explained Withers.
“I see” said Knorr coolly, after which the Jamouran turned on his heal and trudged down the steep steps to his quarters.

The next five days Knorr kept to himself meditating in his quarters as well as eating his daily meals there. It was only on the seventh day that he talked to anyone since his conversation with Captain Withers. The little girl Lyra had walked into his cabin and sat down on the floor in front of him. It was the first-time Knorr had noticed just how red her hair was, and her eyes were a dull green. “Hello, Mr. Jamouran sir” she said confidently
“Hello child” replied Knorr who was taken aback with how brave this little girl was. With all the affection, he ...

The Tsana

It had been over 3 months since Knorr left The Spires, he had hit the road early one morning, black fur shining in the morning sun of Taldera. Knorr took everything he needed to start a new life in Sylira, money, herbs, his book bag and his backpack. This backpack would soon become his life as he journeyed to Sylira, he kept his food and all the herbs he gathered in this waterproof living bag. It became everything he would be able to trade when he arrived, it was his key to a new life.

After 3 weeks of travel a sweaty Knorr walked into Karjin. He worked his way towards the harbor in the city and found an old captain sailing to Sylira. "I know you monkey lot are a bit weird about money, so how do you think you're gonna pay me?" the captain asked pointedly. After a couple moments of consideration Knorr spoke up in his rumbling, deep voice, “I will pay you in herbs and some small amount of gold"
"Wat herbs?", asked the captain suspiciously.
"I have some Delaviv, a little bit of Cigar, some Acalai leaves and a small pot of Acalai resin and"
"Nah son you can get any of those herbs down in the markets. I am after a more. Effective herb." interjected the swarthy captain, "What else can ya offer me?"
Knorr shook his shaggy head surprised by the rudeness of the human. He had a feeling it would come to this. He could give up on getting to Syliras or he could commit to this drastic course of action. "I will give you my next offer tomorrow, until then."
"Until then.... I guess" replied the confused captain who was clearly expecting an immediate counter offer.

Knorr turned on his heal, his huge Jamouran physique catching the reflection of the rippling morning water. The sea captain swallowed hard and made a mental note not to ever cross the massive Jamouran.

Knorr strode back through the city; he was considering staying the night at one of the inns in K...
