Ok some more random thoughts about playing a slave as a main character. I am thoroughly over the shy quiet slave. It's almost a cop out, people who are afraid to drive an RP they make slave characters who are shy and quiet. So that they never have to direct the RP, never have to guide it. It makes people who DO want to guide, who DO want to make a dynamic character kind of shy away from PCing a slave. Fortunately I have not found, yet, an overabundance of cop-out slave PC's here. They do tend to peter out when they realize how incredibly dull it is posting only reactionary posts. That being said, how does one play a slave that is ok with her lot in life withOUT being a cop out? Remember slaves have feelings too, and even if they are ok with being a slave does not mean that they will love every Freeborn and respect everyone. An easy way to make a great angsty plotline is to make no bones about ones feelings to a said Freeborn. Now you probably ICly wouldn't be able to clock them a good one, but there are all kinds of passive aggressive things one can do in an RP that would not break the civility of slave to freeborn but make it very interesting to say the least. Then build onto that plot, find freeborns who are sympathetic to slaves, icly befriend them, use them to plot against your freeborn enemies. muahaha I need more threads now |
