Fire in the hole! by Book__wyrm on February 16th, 2010, 6:04 am
Or, sand. Whatever. So, I spent the weekend in Macau, celebrating chinese new year. One of the best things about Macau was the fireworks. Here in Hong Kong, fireworks are a big, fat NO, so we go to Macau instead. This year was even better than last year. We spent two nights playing with fireworks and firecrackers. There were your usual “rocket on a stick” fireworks, the ones that would fly up and sparkle, firecrackers that were basically noise wrapped up in paper, huge boxes that, when lit, would spit out dozens of explosions, and little blue sparklers. It was pretty dangerous though. Every once in a while, a firework would go off with out flying, a “Christmas tree” fireworkA conical shaped fire work that sent out sparks would explode, something would catch fire, the ashy remains of a firework would hit someone in the eye, ect. Once, I saw a man stand too close to a hornet fireworkA piece of paper shaped like wings attached to a fireworks. It would spin, fly up, and burn. and it burned a hole through his jacket and shirt. Another time, some one shot me with a cannon fireworkA tube with several pellets in them. Similar to a gun, but far less dangerous . The price tags on the fireworks are ridiculous though. “Christmas trees” would cost over a hundred for three at best, and and 150 for one at worst. The fireworks got pricier as we approached the entrance. This is probably for those people who come in and buy something at the first shop they see. Lucky for us, we have a secret weapon on our side; my sister. She is a master bargainer in training. She managed to get prices down from $380 to $2508HKD/RMB/MOP=1USD. The prices aren’t that ridiculous. It’s only natural. She learned from the best; AKA our grandmother. Well, that’s all. Pictures below. [ Continued ]

Getting to Know Shane by Drask on May 31st, 2011, 5:30 pm
Hello, Internet! Welcome to my weekly blog!
While I had originally planned for this to be a daily blog, I realized how boring my life was and decided to just have a weekly blog. HAD I done a daily blog you guys would get stuff like "went to movies, watches some tv". Not very interesting. Therefore, every Tuesday you guys can expect me to post on this blog, and since I have more time to work on blog posts they should be much more elaborate and descriptive. My only fear is that I may be late on a current event that happens on wednesdy and I don't get around to until it's already old news.
Also, some of you may be wondering why I'm doing Tuesday, here's why: Since it is after Saturday and Sunday I'll have much more to talk about AND it'll be more relevant. I didn't pick Monday because that's my "Weekend Recovery" day.
Now before I begin blogging (Well, I guess technically I am already) I thought I might tell you guys a little about myself. For safety reasons my real name will not be used.
My alias is Shane Micheal Blackridge III, or Shane for short. I'm 16 years old, and a sophomore (Junior when I get back from summer vacation) at Bending Oaks High School. It's a rather small private school with about 50 kids in the whole school, and teachers are called by their first name. Very laid back, and very fun. Isn't easy, mind you. I was born in a military hospital at Fort Hood, and eventually made my way up into Irving in the course of 14 years (My mom moved a-lot). Sibling-wise I have 2 half brothers: Ryan and Ranger, and one *almost* step sister: Kaelah. My interests are writing, photography, photo manipulation, and Wolves.
That's basically a brief summary of myself. Not too fancy, I know. Now that that's out if the way my next entry will officially kick off my blog!

New and confused by Nastya on May 26th, 2010, 10:16 pm
Um, Im sure that nobody will read this for a very long time. I figured, why not attempt to write a blog none-the-less? I joined yesterday at 8:11, and it didnt take me four minutes and people were chatting with me and helping me out. I'm still a little confused about these Character Sheets and the Staring-package things. D: I hope I just dont make an idiot out of myself.
I know that my character's name is Nastya, that she is a Symenestra, and that she looks like a boy because she doesnt want to have children due to the fact that she will die if she has one. So i basically know what my character looks like, but not so much how to throw her into the roleplay, you know what i mean?
I am now constantly looking at the races and the starting guide, but as i have mentioned before i am still very, very confused.

What a mess! by Gossamer on June 24th, 2009, 5:23 pm
I had the best intentions. Its supposed to not be nice today... rain showers later. I didn't get the chicks outside at all yesterday because I was just too tired and spent the morning in jammies and watching Jaws on TV. I cuddled with a few cats, made a great lunch, and then went off to work. All in all I probably killed the three spare hours before work easily. Today is a different story. I got up at 8:30, after about 6 hrs of sleep and fed hroses... then moved outside to get some work done on my computer. I brought the chicks out to play, but I'm worried. We need to get the coup done fast because sitting here I've seen a pair of bald eagles, a coopers hawk, a harris hawk, and a northern harrier 'wander by' all in the first hour. I cleaned cages, stalls, and let horses out too. I've caught up on some of the stuff I'm working on, and am sitting here by the firepit watching the chickens learn a brand new fun game.
The Easter Egger chickies... the Ameracauanas... have discovered if you get into the flower beds and scratch, you can find worms and all sorts of cool bugs. When one finds a bug, all the others chase the one with the bug around until the bug is consumed (by whomever ends up with it). so now all the chickies are out comfortably weeding the garden. The Rhode Island Reds have put themselves to bed... they are fair weather flowers.... when it gets windy, which it is now, they tend to go to bed and stay there. Since the EE chickes are still in their wire cage, they don't have that option... so they are staying out still looking for bugs... juicy bugs.
I've never seen a creature love bugs so much.
My fearless leader hen, Sugar, just offered me what looks like a grub of some sort.... I think shes telling me she loves me. I need to charge the digital camera... but when I do, I'll take some pictures and show everyone. I really shouldn't be so obsessed with my chickens... .seriously... but they are a delight.

My Faults. by Amondaris on March 21st, 2011, 4:44 pm
So yeah. Bloggity stuff.
I played here a while ago, sometime back last Summer. Some of you may or not remember me, I wouldn't blame you if you didn't. I wasn't around too long and didn't make much of an impact. But I'm back now, and I hope to stay. I really do, Mizahar is a great place, with great people, and a great setting.
Last time I was around, I didn't stay so long. I've told most of you that this was because of college burying me under work, which is true, but there was another reason. I wasn't particularly well received, as a person, especially in the chat. This was due to my rough manner in which I interacted with people. Which I found bitterly amusing, as some of the very people which I offended were extremely abrasive and sharp with anyone they didn't already know and like, which I still think is a bit..I don't know. Hypocritical. But hey. Humans. We're a faulty bunch. I know I have so many it's silly.
Now, personally, the way in which I interact with people is just fine. Sure, I have plenty of bite to my banter, but it's all in good humour and I don't mean one bit of harm in it. It's just how I get on. It's how my family gets on, extended included. We mock each other mercilessly, embarrass each other and generally tear each other to pieces humourously. I have become painfully aware of how unusual this mode of interaction is, outside of my family. I've always had a reputation as a pretty mean guy, and as being a fellow you don't mess with. I attributed this to my height and general appearance, as well as my hostile demeanour. I wasn't always friendly and pleasant, I'm aware of this. I was young(er), I was angsty and I thought my life sucked and that I had every right to be angry. I did, and I didn't, in a way. I did, because to me, my life did suck. Ever since I was a kid, I was picked on... | [ Continued ]
