The Kingdom of Toast by Alaia on July 23rd, 2014, 10:25 pm
A little fun for me inspired by Roscoe! __________________________________________________________________ A Toaster’s Autobiography I remember when I was born like it was yesterday. Well it wasn’t truly the day I was born but up until this moment I was just a lonely bolt sitting in a box of my brothers and sisters as we all awaited our chance to shine and become a part of something bigger. The day I was born started off like any other, I was just puttering about in the contents of my box, exploring the depths deep within it – not for the first time mind you, I was an adventurer searching for a home! Days were spent, months even, where I scooched past the hard pressed shapes of my siblings to explore all four corners of our world! I was the most notorious explorer of my world, the north corner was a place only the fearless bolts (like myself) would go. Have I mentioned to you yet about how I once took on a ferocious dust bunny who threatened to entangle a few of my siblings? No …. Well I suppose that is a story for another time I’m supposed to be telling you about the day I was born … Let’s begin again … Once upon a time in a factory there was a box … No, no that is horrible this isn’t a fable this is a true story! Once more please… Hello, my name is Captain Boomer – such was my name as a bolt and such is my name now that I’m a … well that would ruin the ending now wouldn’t it? I know, I know you’re probably wondering what the big finale is since this is an autobiography about a toaster so of course you’d think that’s how the story ends! I was a bolt but now I’m a toaster, right?! Wrong. Stop trying to get ahead of me and just listen up. I’m Captain Boomer of the 53rd brigade of the almighty … okay we weren’t called the almighty but we were the 53rd brigade and we were mighty. As mighty as a bunch of bolts in a box could ever be anyways. Well one day I was patrolling the southern sector, it’s a quiet place where the worn out bolts... [ Continued ]

My Rirst Ramblings by Niall Raghnall on August 10th, 2009, 11:16 pm
I would have pounded my way into here on opening day but life has been anything but normal for me. Those who read this and know me, know this is nothing unusual. On July 29th I had knee surgery. The original intent was to do some repair work to my medial and lateral miniscus. About 11 years earlier I had gone through ACL surgery on the same knee ... I love basketball, but it doesn't love me back. While the Dr was in doing the miniscus work, he was also going to test the ACL. The ACl freyed undered the test and so was replaced. The twisted part of this was that my wife had her 20 yr class reunion that weekend. I did not want to see her miss this event because it is a lifetime of great memories. Everyone should go to their reunion when the time comes. Luckily we own a Yukon Denali. I crawled into the very back of the vehicle, dropped the middle row to rest my leg, popped a few vicodin, and endured the 9 hr drive to NM for my wife's reunion. Thank God I was pain free from the surgery. I went through soreness from walking around (on crutches) and took time here and there to ice up and take a few more vicodin, but the trip was a success. I'm back at work today and things are going well. As always, I have work to catch up on from taking ten days off, but I love my job so no complaints. As for Mizahar, thank goodness this place is finally open!! I will always love the 'other' game world but could find no further inspiration to play in it. Too many times I saw claims to great things with no follow through from the owner. The staff would do their best for the players, but the owner would still manage to sweep in, screw it all up, piss off his staff, watch them all quit, and then scramble to restaff. The people made the game work, but the ownership simply managed to jack things up too often and then disappear. I did a lot in that game and wanted to do more, but began losing interest. Only my friends kept me around because I loved to talk to them. Mizahar has given me a renewed... [ Continued ]

Future Plans and Imagination by Malia on February 7th, 2010, 7:51 pm
(This was written earlier today which is why I didn't mention the news about Malia.)So, I need something to get me posting, because otherwise I’ll be sitting here the rest of the weekend, playing around with fonts and backgrounds and not writing a single word at all. So I figured: what’s better for getting into posting mood than blogging? Since there is nothing going on irl, I have enough time to think about my characters, my activity and where I want to go with them. The “top 30 word counts” has actually impressed me more than it should have. While it means that I’ve already achieved great things, it also reminds me of how much I could achieve if I were just a little bit more active and dedicated. I know that it’s possible. I just need to find out that one “trick” that makes people just write and write and write without thinking. Tricks … my character Avayra is about tricks. I don’t know her very well yet, but that’s going to change soon. I have plans for her, big plans. After all, she already IS the creator of the powerful, as it states in her title. She will become a famous magician; that much is sure. But one cannot be just a magician and nothing else – these people will either commit suicide or be killed by some strange experiment. No, she has to discover some other obsessions. I’d love to see her as a follower of Nysel, but I think it’s still a bit too early for her to discover that. She needs to settle in Syliras and do some productive work first. I guess she’ll have a hard time establishing a daily life, because she loves surprises and suspense. A little rebel, that’s what I had in mind when I created her. She will be unique when I develop her further. I’m really looking forward to it, but at the moment I just have to concentrate on finding a voice in my posts that suits her. Well, just a few plans I like to play around with: She’s currently aiming for work at the Inner Sanctum, but I could also see her as apprentice at the I... [ Continued ]
