Jilitse, shhhh. The world is totally flat…people are too scared to sail around, or those who have must have died! (or left)…leave that open ended for development. ;P

I’d like to help with this. I’d be interested in Charbosi (Charbosa? The map is different, idk). My only question is if you want me to link them as far as the beach or the city itself? I could do land routes to the beach and the sea routes directly over Charbosi.

I’m especially liking Ulric’s formula method and such at the moment, similar to Antar’s I must also credit. If you’ll take me in Goss, I’m assuming we’ll use this thread as base camp? ;P

I just wanted to pipe in and say I'm going to TEAR into this project after NaNo in December. And on that note, sorry Ulric, but we aren't going to be using some fancy mathematical formula that a cartographer and a mathematician would go into convulsions over anyhow. Its been tried and that always gets in the way of logic. Sure, you can have a flat piece of land, but if its flat and SWAMPY you aren't moving across it fast at all. Same with hilly and those hills being sand dunes. You can even move fast through mountains depending on terrain and mode of transportation. That's why we are breaking down these routes into chunks, describing the terrain along the way, and giving three modes of transportation rates when we do - Walking, Riding, Driving. Some, of course, like driving a wagon through Kalea, will not be possible. We'll state that and tell them why.

Now I'm willing to do this entire project myself, but I'll be starting with my moderator responsibility areas like Kalea so places like Eyktol will be somewhat last on the list. That's why I'm asking for help and feasible routes from people. We'll discuss each city as a group, list the hazards, and determine fair times based on the good old fashioned common sense and eyeballing the map. We can also list if there's good animal trails or people tracks to follow. That way when we are done, we'll have a section on travel to add to the wiki and potentially individual sections on travel to add to each city wiki. That way its fair, comprehensive, and not produced by a formula that has really no scientific basis behind it.

Also, inland cities need some sort of 'port' on the coast unless they are near a port city even if its just a dock and a trading stop so we'll need to list those and possibly be adding some little 'thunder bay' type places to the city map.

I'd be more than happy to help work on this. Sunberth would be the first place I would want to start. But I have done a lot of research on water travel for my Svefra so I could begin with the boat routes instead.

So count me in for Sunberth and the Seas!

Either would be good. Probably the best thing would be start listing places you can get too feasibly from Sunberth and on the side start listing potential water routes in another list.

Alright, I'll help out as well. I'll take Endrykas, though I may need some help with it, since it's a moving city. It'll have to be broken down into seasons so that the distances can be adjusted based on which part of Cyphrus its in. So yeah, four sets of information.

I think the best plan for Endrykas is a simple one. We'll mark on the map where the ruins of old Endrykas is (the perm settlement on the east coast) where all the origin stones are set. Then we'll mark something like Moonfall and some of the other known sites possibly the Zith colony (Gillar once told me where it was... I need to remember). Then once all these distances are plotted, its easy to give Endrykas a Seasonal 'thereabouts' distance depending on where in the run it is.

Sounds complicated but trust me it should be easy. I'll try to take some time perhaps this evening if I can remember to grab the folder on my keychain drive and work on a Cyphrus Map in the style I've done for Kalea.

Assuming the listed Charoda city on the Mizahar map is simply the closest point to the underwater city, I’ll link land routes there and sea routes directly over the actual underwater city, though it’s a WIP. Who knows, maybe there will eventually be a costal encampment? >.>

Looking for some input on the clustered ports. A ship or valispar might be able to bypass ports like Black Rock to Syka in one run, but I need some input on that. Otherwise if we want to avoid the port/city we’ll still want the distance/time to add from that city to the next for a total, I suppose.

How does the Charbosa/Charbosi list looking?
