At man, she beat me. I knew Stephen Hawkings, too. The Lovely woman on the top right is Jane Goodall. All the others I know because Jen supplied then am I'm not cheating.

As for your scrap, people hide behind the "No offense" term way more than they should. I try not to use it at all. If you don't use that pointless phrase, it takes whatever you're saying and just makes it rude. This counts for the incident at hand AND .... well, everything else.

I'm frankly just sick of "veiled" meanings within scrapbooks - if you're gonna say something, say it!

I generally pride myself on being the person that does, Luke.

I Get It
I really do.

I think you are right, Luke. The world would be a lot better place if there was less passive aggressive veiled comments throughout the internet and throughout the world and a whole lot more of "This is what it is. This is what I'm feeling. This is what I'm doing to change that." A perfect example is people that retire abruptly with veiled comments. It's not really necessary. Just say "Hey, I'm retiring. This isn't for me. I am too busy for this. There are aspects of this I don't like so I'm not going to continue." Etc. How hard is that to do and how courteous is it? Luckily this is only usually a big problem with PCs.

And I never mind, honestly, when people take large chunks of time off because their lives are crazy busy like with school or they have something going on in their life (illness, death, new baby!) that leads them in another direction. This is especially great if they give us some notice... even if there's no estimated time of return.

But I get really angry and it hurts in a deep and profound way when someone blames Mizahar on something that happened in their life. It's not Mizahar's fault. This game does not drag you here and make you play or develop or whatever on its own. Neither do the Founders or Staff or other players. Being here completely and utterly is your choice. Once, someone I really cared about blamed Mizahar on their failure of a very important test in their life. They did it in a very hurtful way as if the game was solely responsible for their actions and the outcome. I couldn't hardly believe they said that and it hurt in a way that I haven't ever really gotten over. It hurt because until I said "Whoa whoa whoa..... Mizahar didn't park you on here. You parked you on here." They never usually acknowledged that Mizahar isn't a living breathing thing, its a place you come of your own volition and any time they spent here was by their choice not ours.

And they can say 'I didn't want to let anyone down...". That's easy. But its a total bullshi cope out. Piling on guilt because they took too much time here instead of with what their real life responsibilities is letting people down especially if they lay blame on others and not where it belongs - on themselves.

I love it when people actually retire and give something of an explanation why they do so. I always find it annoying that people just quit, retire, don't offer closure, and leave it up to those left to decide.

And like you, Luke, I love it when people actually say what they mean.

Its sad.

The Tutu Project

Image

If you haven't heard of the Tutu Project its really worth checking out. This gentleman's wife got breast cancer, she survived, but three years later currently its back, more aggressive, and terminal having spread to her liver. He started out doing these images just for her to cheer her up and make her laugh. Then he showed a few more people... and a few more... and now hes raising money for cancer awareness. There's something truly magical about these images. I can't explain it. But I love them dearly because they are so emotive and just well perfect.

This guy is totally awesome. He really thought outside of the box for this vital cause, and I guess the pictures show how much he loves his wife too :)

This is a beautiful story, and this kind of thing always touches home with me. I'm an avid supporter of anything that supports cancer research and care. I'm always involved with Relay for Life and I was a caregiver for my mom who is nearing her fifth year in recession. I used to read her literature while she was getting her chemo treatments because it was one of the only things that would make her smile.

Smiles are beautiful, and everyone should try and make more of them, and never less.

Gossamer,

We don't always agree on everything. I guess that's just how people are. But, you have that sort of fearless honesty I can't help but admire in a person--even if I've been at the brutal end of it more than once. Thanks for stuff and things lately. I don't make signs so I made you this instead. Just try and resist him.
