Makia stood behind the gates that lead to the Salt Flats. Makia was a hunter and what kind of Inarta was she if she didn't have a pet bird? Well, she had one of course! Good 'Ol Ezio. Her big black raven that followed her everywhere. Trusty guy, about 2 years old. A youngin' he is. But as soon as she got one, right before she graduate school and became an Avora, she fell in love with him. He went everywhere with her and was always by her side. He was the only friend she had, but it was time she toughened up on him. Yeah, he did a little hunting himself, as a bird of prey would, but he relied on Makia too much and to be honest, he was getting a little fat. What use was a bird if it was a fat bird? Exactly, none. So it's time Ezio figured out how to fly fast enough to catch those pesky little mice he loves so much.So with arrow and pack on back and Ezio flying close behind, not allowed on her shoulder today he needed exercise, they traveled into the flats to see if Good 'Ol Ezio could beat one of her arrows and retrieve it just as fast. He was a pretty smart bird and knew Makia well so he got the instructions fast enough after a few time of shooting and arrow and beckoning him after it. They went out into the middle of the flats and sat her pack down on the burning ground. She sat down as well, there was no need for her to stand, this was training for Ezio, not her. She took her quiver and bow off her shoulder and set the quiver on the ground, taking one red feathered bow from its home and settling it in the bow. She took the arrowheads off the arrows so just in case someone got in the way they would only get a rough poke in the side. "Not wantin' to kill anyone today," She laughed, muttering to herself. Only to get a weird and impatient look from the hovering Ezio. "Fine, fine." She said as she let the arrow out of its hold. Ezio raced after it. Well raced isn't really the best word. More liked chased. He chased the arrow and went about 100 feet before the arrow dropped to the ground about 500 feet in front of the bird. He was about to head back when Makia shouted, "Well go get it you petch!" In which Ezio headed back and grabbed the arrow in his beak. He dropped it at her feet and sat on her shoulder. Makia quickly shoo him off and shot another arrow into the sky. Ezio squawked at the unfair start and chased it again. Makia, while waiting for Ezio to fetch the blunt arrow, took a bite of an apple from her pack. He came back and it occurred to Makia, also with help from Ezio's cawed complaints, that she may be shooting the arrow too quickly. "Okay, I'll shoot slower. Your not a falcon anyway." She said then winced when she realized what she just implied. Most Inartas her age had a bird, a falcon to be specific because they are the top of the birds besides an Eagle. But Ezio was a raven and sometimes he was afraid that Makia would get a falcon and give him up. He knew he wasn't as good as a falcon, but he tried. So this worried Ezio and saddened him too. "Eee, I didn't mean it like that E! I just meant I shouldn't push you as hard as I am. I'm sorry E..." She aplogized. It was crazy how well Ezio understood her. Makia shrugged it off as them knowing each other so well. But it was weird how well he could understand Nari, it was irregular for a regular bird. Ezio took her apology by racing after another arrow that Makia shot. he gained speed, that was for sure. Maybe it was his drive to get Makia to be proud of him, but he got closer to the arrow this time. He was about 100 feet away from the arrow this time and Makia applauded as he picked up the arrow and flew back. |
"Okay one more time, you can do this Good 'Ol E. Okay?" Ezio cawed in agreement and got ready. She shot the arrow and he bolted after it. He was halfway there when all of a sudden he darted toward the side, completely off track. "Hey!" Makia yelled, confused. Ezio ignored her and started swooping down at amazing speed. Makia Stood up, trying to see what he was chasing, it was obviously something, but from this distance she couldn't tell. He got really low to the ground when he caught something in his beak. Makia cocked her head in confusion when she started to see the wriggling thing in his beak. It looked like a bald mouse, that you didn't see often anyway but there was something else. Ezio held it by the tail and its little body was stretching up, trying to claw at the birds face. It didn't work because it didn't have its usual flexibility. There was something attached to its back and when Ezio got closer she saw what looked like an extra ear that had grown on its back. It was gruesome and Makia picked it out of her birds beak, holding it by its bleeding tail. ![]() "The Djed Storms..." Makia muttered. She knew that they had done weird things to some animals, but she hadn't seen one herself. She felt like puking. "We need to show this to someone huh E?" she asked Ezio and he cawed. He handed the thing back to Ezio who gleefully put it back in his mouth. She took all the food and things out of her pack and put them in her quiver instead. Then she took back the mouse and put it in the pack for safe keeping. Hopefully it wouldn't chew a hole in her leather. Then she walked out of the Salt Flats and went looking for an Endal to show this to with Ezio perched on her shoulder. OOCThis is a thread for they June Seasonal Event of finding a mutated animal. |
