Septimus, being her own self, had always believed there was nothing else to her besides what she had been told. Never though, had she ever managed to be able to understand what exactly she was. She had only been running off the knowledge taught to her in which she had learnt from her own experiences, what she had overheard from conversations, and what her parents managed to tell her during that small time she had figured out what she was and what she had spent with them. Never had she ever had a complete understanding and she needed that to change... today. After all, how was she supposed to be herself when she didn't exactly know what she was.
The library was a splendid building with beautiful designs in almost every corner. Definitely another splendid site in which she had never seen. She had never ever been in a library son intricate like this. As a matter of fact, she had never even been in a library and when she saw all of the books inside she didn't know where to start. She could tell they were all classified but how exactly? It was almost too much for her Kelvic mind to comprehend but she managed to process it all quickly in the end.
She walked over to the desk with the hooded man "Excuse me, sir. I was looking for a book on the history of Kelvics. I would love to know a bit more about exactly what they are." The man nodded with a smile "Of course, ma'am. Were you planning on checking the book out or just staying and reading?" Septimus nodded at his last choice "I have no where to go, and still working on resting up a bit. Today's one of my relaxing days so I'd rather just stay here and read." The man nodded "One moment, ma'am."
The Akalak libarian soon returned with an older and worn book with a black bounding and a gold title stamped on the front which simply said "Kelvics". The librarian handed her the book then motioned to the chairs around the library "Sit, relax, and read. Knowledge is wonderful." Septimus followed his advice and sat down at a cushioned chair that was placed in front of a table with one other almost identical chair on the other side. Septimus placed the book in front of her then opened it up to the first page where the table of contents was at. It was a pretty good sized book being about 50 pages which included about everything possible including diagrams and pictures.
The second page started off with an overview of how Kelvics came to be. Kelvics were born by a powerful mage named Marcus Kelvic who was bored of loneliness. Kelvics were created pre-Valterrian to shift into people providing him with company to help his loneliness and protect him. They also served as positions and roles for him. For example, a horse was created to serve as a mount while a mouse was used for eavesdropping or finding out information. He founds ways to make every Kelvic useful and find a purpose. Big cats and wolves were used for protection as well as other large and fast animals. He crafted them with a need to bond to a human in which they all bonded to himself. He perfected them to the point where they could finally breed. Septimus nodded then sighed. She hadn't read up on much of that. She continued her studies.
Kelvics do not breed true and have a wildcard factor when it comes to it. A Kelvic can have a human child with the gene in his genetics which shall later blossom out down the family line and abruptly happen. When these 'litters' occurred Marcus Kelvic would sell the non-Kelvic offspring off as slaves. Because of this, the Kelvic lineage has been scattered throughout Mizahar and mixed with other races producing mixed blood and all the more stirring up their genetics throughout. It was unpredictable which Kelvics would have which Kelvic children. Septimus took a deep breath then ran a hand through her hair whispering to herself "So he basically sent the ones he had no use for off. What a selfish inconsiderate little brute."
Continuing on her studies, Septimus continued to read on through the old and worn book. The new topic now showed a diagram of a nude female Kelvic with obvious Kelvic features with a caption at the bottom saying 'Diagram of a eagle Kelvic.' The diagram showed a smaller Kelvic with large eyes and small black pupils. There was no white part around her eye. She also had more of a hooked like nose that pointed down. This would explain why her eyes were just like her horse form when she looked at her reflection and also why she had longish but angular features on her face. Septimus knew this much at least but now it made sense a bit better.
Kelvics look like normal every day people when outside of their animal form. They have no common appearances period. There are so many conbinations of Kelvic species, past factors, present factors, and mental factors that it is practically impossible for you to identify a Kelvic simply by just looking at it from afar or talking to it for soemtime unless they clearly come out and say it. Kelvics can take any shape of a mammal or bird, always searching. Kelvics cannot stop halfway through their shapeshift and cannot grow claws The equine Kelvic began summing it all up in her head, placing it into making sense. Her summary was simple but there.
The next section had to do with beliefs and psychological ways. As she read the title she came to the conclusion that she really wasn't like any other Kelvic out there. All Kelvics had different looks, different ways of speaking, different everything. There was only one unique Kelvic all the time. Kelvics differ a lot in this category as well. As they come from so many different backgrounds and inner and outer factors Kelvics have many different ways of life and beliefs. However, a Kelvic always reflects it's animal side. For example, a dog is protective and loyal of it's owner just like a dog Kelvic would be to their bondmate. Kelvics can become miserable and depressed whenever they don't have a bondmate. It pleases a Kelvic to serve their bondmate in whatever they do. A simple task done asked of them by their bondmate makes them feel pleasure and great happiness where as killing an enemy ordered by their bondmate can bring a ton of pleasure and extreme happiness. A majority of Kelvics would rather kill themselves than let their master's things be told or let alone harm come to their master. A smirk appeared across her face as this reflected Septimus. She would rather kill herself than turn over a friend let alone a bondmate. If this is how the book described it, being bonded must be a wonderful thing. she thought.
