Running Into New Acquaintances [Yiakin]

Postby Maria on February 16th, 2013, 6:42 am

Time Stamp :: 88th day of winter, 512AV
Location :: Market Place

Maria runs her fingers through her thick dark red colored hair. The girl's hair has always been dark red, more towards a brown color rather than towards a fiery orange. No one knows exactly why this is. Both of her parents had bright, blazing red hair. However her hair is and has always been one of Maria's favorite features. She loves how thick and long it is and how easy it is for her to make it do pretty much whatever she wants. That is except keep it clean and neat looking. No matter how many times the girl runs her brush through the thick mane it will not stay neat looking for very long. Today, Maria wears her hair down. Delicate, thin braids have been carefully woven and placed among the curls. The hair frames her face, its color making her bright, blue eyes pop more than they already do. The blue irises are easily seen as the girl they belong to looks around at all the stalls around her.

A chilly breeze sends a shiver down Maria's spine as she walks through the market place. This breeze makes the girl pull her dark green katinu closer against her body. Maria sighs and looks up at the blue winter sky. Not many clouds can be seen in the nearly clear sky. Letting out another sigh, Maria looks back towards the stalls. Her eyes quickly glance and take in what the stall is selling before she moves on and continues looking. The girl isn't looking to buy anything really. She is just enjoying walking through the street and taking in all that is around her. Just as she isn't looking to buy anything, Maria isn't particularly watching her step. She has been lucky in that she hasn't run into anything just yet. But that can easily change in just a moment of time and it just might. She might run into someone or someone could run into her. It is really unknown what will happen, all that is known is what could happen. And Maria running into someone or someone running into her could very easily happen.

Running Into New Acquaintances [Yiakin]

Postby Yiakin on February 16th, 2013, 7:27 am

Yiakin played with the edge of her auburn braid. While her hair wasn't extremely long; it did come down to the top of her breast. She twirled her finger in her hair looking at all the stalls at the market. She usually kept it in a braid, it made it easier to take care and kept it from getting in her face. Her eyes sparkled at all the exciting things to buy. Her lagoon blue-green eyes dancing in the light and standing out against her hair. She bit her lower lip as she walked past a stall selling birds. Look at those owls. Their so pretty. She thought not paying attention to people. Yiakin tripped on something and felt her self falling only feel her hit some one and drag that person down with her.
Yiakin and the other person landed on the ground. She rolled of the other person and got up on her knees. "I am so sorry. I wasn't paying attention and tripped and just fell." She rambled on rubbing the back of her neck. "I'm really sorry. I hope you didn't get hurt."

Running Into New Acquaintances [Yiakin]

Postby Maria on February 17th, 2013, 1:26 am

Lost in the many different scents the market place has, it takes a chime for Maria to register that she is falling. Not only that, but she doesn't realize that someone is on top of her as the weight applied to her body doesn't channel to her brain right away. But it soon does and Maria realizes how uncomfortable it is on the ground with someone on top of her and no air in her lungs. Which is a learning experience as this has never happened to her in this way. Very much to Maria's happiness the girl quickly rolls off of her and she can breath again. Sucking in air, the girl gets the oxygen circulating through her body again and her mind starts going through the pain she is in. Its not a ton of pain. More like a lot of discomfort. I think Maria is emotionally more damaged than physically. Physically she seems to be alright aside from the fact she will have at least one bruise from the fall. Emotionally, this is pretty humiliating. Maria isn't one to draw attention to herself and she can see that some people have stopped to watch the little scene. Thankfully no one besides the girl who fell on her stops for very long and they soon continue on with their lives and their day.

Speaking of the girl who fell on top of her, Maria notices she is speaking. She has been too busy with her own body to actually focus in and figure out what the girl is saying, but now that her brain is starting to come back to her she is trying to figure out the words the girl's voice is making. It seems like a sort of apology. A rambling apology, but an apology nonetheless. The girl also seems concerned for Maria's physical health. To this Maria wants to snap back with some reply, but considering the fact that she is on the ground and the girl is back standing up and the girl could be an Avora or Endal she decides against this. Maria simply presses her palms against the pavement and pushes herself up to her feet. She quickly looks over her clothes and sees the only damage is a little dirt on her katinu. For this she is thankful. Maria then turns her attention to the girl.

“No, I'm fine,” she says rather simply. Looking over the girl, Maria quickly sees that she is an Inarta like herself and by the looks of it is maybe a couple years younger? Maria isn't sure for she has always been rather bad at figuring out people's ages by just looking at them, but judging by what she sees and the sound of the girl's voice she guesses she is sixteen or so. The irritation of being knocked over now having subsided, Maria finds it in her to give a small smile to the girl and say, “That's alright, it was an accident. Happens to the best of us. I'm Maria.” She says this in her nice, pleasant, but not really mentally fully there voice as she uses her hands to fix her hair so it doesn't look worse than it already did. The truth is that her mind is really drifting between talking to this girl and trying to get her hair back into a decent shape. She is more mentally focused on the hair as it looks bad enough as it is and she doesn't want it looking worse.

Running Into New Acquaintances [Yiakin]

Postby Yiakin on February 17th, 2013, 5:15 am

Yiakin strehed her back out as this other girl stood up. "I'm really sorry about that." She said once more. "I'm Yiakin. It's nice to meet you." She sad happily and friendly. Yiakin wasn't normaly clumsy but it seemed today she was spacing out. Thinking about Wind Eagles and how beautiful. Even the Snow owl made her space out, the same owl she was thinking about when she bumped into... What was her name again... Mira... Mari... Maria... That sounded right. Maria, that was her name. Now Yiakins thoughts driffed off to wondering if this Maria was an Endal or Avora, maybe she had a Wind Eagle. Maybe she was going to push Yiakin. Yiakin took a deep breath and waited calmly. "You're okay right? I didn't hurt you right?" She said nicely putting on her best friendly face she could.
Yiakin fixed her braid as it had fallen out during the fall. It flowed down paster her mid back. She devided her hair up into three large chucks before slowly braiding it into t nice braid. "You know, a braid would make you hair easilier to take care of." She mubbled to herself as she finished her braid. Triwlling it up into a little bun on top of her head. She fxed her bangs out of her eyes, smiling at the girl now standing in front of her.

Running Into New Acquaintances [Yiakin]

Maria watches as the girl stretches her back. Her deep blue eyes once again take in all that the girl is. She listens as the girl speaks again. She seems to feel the need to continue to apologize which makes Maria want to roll her eyes or say something really sarcastic and devious just to scare the girl. But she doesn't. Though she probably could. The girl doesn't seem to be an Endal, at least if she is Maria has never had a run in with one as apologetic as this girl, Yiakin. With the top caste eliminated as a possibility for this girl, Maria goes to think up what caste she could be in. As she does this she smiles and says very simply to the girl, “Pleasure is all mine.” When Maria speaks these words it is with an air of grace and not one of her usual quiet self. She seems rather comfortable and at peace with the situation. This surprises even Maria herself, for ever since her parents passed away she has been rather introverted. Not shy, but just more closed off and not really comfortable with herself. Especially around other people.

The Cheit's attention is turned back to Yiakin as the girl asks yet again if she is alright. This time Maria can't help herself, she does in fact roll her eyes. It is a very small roll. Only one of someone who is slightly annoyed and thinks that the other person is making a big deal out of nothing. “I'm fine, really,” she insists. Dark red bangs fall into her eyes as she says this. With a simple swish of the head the bangs go back into their place right over Maria's left eyebrow. It is right after this that Maria just barley hears the advice Yiakin has said about her hair and braiding it. This comment brings a ever so slight frown upon Maria's lips for she is not used to other people noticing how hard it is to manage it.

“It would, but I like it down and free. A braid doesn't give it that feeling,” she says. Though it has always been harder to manage than most other peoples' hair, Maria does love keeping it down. She loves the feeling of wind blowing through it and tossing it all around. Sure it may look a little messy at times, but it doesn't make it look bad. It just, in Maria's eyes that is, makes it look free and wild. It looks how she imagines her hair would look if she spent all day traveling amongst the clouds on a Wind Eagle. “But I do put it in braids, when I really don't want to mess with it,” the young Inarta adds after a moments pause. This is true as well.

See, Maria's mother taught her how to braid at a young age. It was one thing they did together, braid each others hair. Maria just loved the feeling of her mother's long, experienced, but soft hands working through her hair. Whenever Maria was upset or hurt, her mother would sit her on her lap and run her hands through Maria's long hair to comfort her. A lot of the times this method worked in stopping Maria's tears to a point that she could then talk it out and eventually get rid of her sorrows. In the mornings her mother would do whatever braid she knew how that Maria wanted in her hair. That is, if she was home and there was time. So you see, braids are something Maria has always loved and they bring her closer to her mother. Which is another reason Maria doesn't put all of her hair into a braid or a series of braids. It brings her to close to her mother and her past, which makes Maria feel rather sad and gloomy the rest of the day.

Maria turns back to the girl in front of her. She has been staring off into space for a chime or so now and she is pretty sure the girl probably thinks she is rather weird. So she tries to think of something to say. It takes a chime, but she does figure out a question to ask. “So, what were you looking at?” she says in a softer voice that is closer to her normal one, “That made you run into me that is.”

Running Into New Acquaintances [Yiakin]

Postby Yiakin on February 22nd, 2013, 8:27 pm

Yiakin smiled. "Oh, just that snow owl. It's so gorgeous. I really love owls, how elegant they our out at night hunting and it amazing that they can do the whole 360 with their heads." Yiakin realized she was rambling on. "So, yeah." She said lamely. Yiakin wasn't usually a ramble mouth but it was something about talking about owls that she couldn't help rambling.
She loved owls more than any bird besides the Wind Eagles. The Wind Eagles beat out every other bird. But, she remembers the short time she spent with her dad, he was always training some type of bird and the owls were always the fasts to learn. Yiakin always assumed they were just eager to learn like her; however, her dad told her it was just because they were the smartest.
Yiakin looked back at Maria realizing that she had spaced out again. "So, have you seen anything you liked?" Yiakin asked, hoping to get a conversation going with this girl. This time maybe we won't end up on the floor together. Yiakin held back a small laugh at her thoughts. This girl probably thinks I'm crazy. Oh well. Yiakin thought looking around the market.

Running Into New Acquaintances [Yiakin]

Postby Maria on February 26th, 2013, 5:09 am

Maria listens politely as the girl across from her speaks, but she makes no comets. This mostly is because she really has nothing to say on the matter. In her mind owls are elagant birds, but they do not compare to the Wind Eagles. Nothing compares to the Wind Eagles.

As Yiakin rambles on, Maria finds her mind slipping into the past. Foggy memories of the two birds that shared a home with her and her parents fill her mind. The feeling of hatred towards them when neither one of them wanted to bond with her after her parents past fills her heart once more. The heavy weight of anger and yearning rests on her shoulders and she lets the dark feelings the memories consume her mind. On the outside, Maria looks perfectly composed and interested in what Yiakin is saying, but on the inside all these feelings boil.

Maria had thought she let go of the memories and feelings. Buried them along with everything else she got rid of. But for some reason, this girl bringing up the owls brings the memories and feelings back. Maria hates the way the memories make her feel. Its not like they are all bad memories. Actually most of them are pretty good memories, but it is those very last moments she had with the two birds that are probably some of the worst moments in her short lived life.

Refusing to let these thoughts consume her much longer, Maria attempts pushing them away and making her mind think about something else. At first she fails, but when she hears a question coming from Yiakin, she snaps out of it and her eyes flicker over and focus on the girl's face instead of right to the side of it where she has been looking this whole time. Maria crosses her arms and shrugs in an answer to the girl's question. She then looks around a minute before turning back to Yiakin.

"Not really. I am just looking and enjoying this last of the winter weather," she comments, keeping her eyes focused on Yiakin and her thoughts focused on the answer to the question rather than letting them wander where they want. After answering, Maria realizes she is rather tense and probably looks that way. Relazing her shoulders and letting her arms fall to her side once more, Maria smiles in attempt to loosen up and keep a light air between herself and Yiakin.

Running a hand through her hair, Maria looks over to a stall before looking back to Yiakin. She gives a light smile before stuffing her hands in the pockets of her Katinu. "Want to walk with me?" she asks, "Unless of course you have somewhere to go, if that is the case I completely understand you turning me down." Maria's words are said in a very nuetral tone as if she both cares and could care less whether or not Yiakin comes with her. This is in fact the case as Maria is just as fine, if not better, by herself than with another person, but it would be rude -in her mind- to just leave. So she doesn't see the harm in inviting Yiakin to walk with her.

Running Into New Acquaintances [Yiakin]

Postby Yiakin on February 27th, 2013, 6:48 pm

Yiakin smiles at Maria. "Yeah, I'll walk with you," she replied. "Which way do you want to head?" She asked realizing that they where heading in different directions when they ran into each other. Yiakin looked at the stuff around them as she waited. Everything was really cool and uniques whether it was the birds or the jewerly. Everything was beautiful. Yiakin had a smile plastered to her face as she thought about the few times her dad and she has gone to the market to buy a falconery tool or some small fish or mice to feed the birds he was training or owned. Yiakin remembered that it was during one of these days that she got her first bird. A raven that she named Tom. Her dad taught her the basics up until he left with Tom and his new wife. While Yiakin ended up dispising both of her parents for leaving her here, she was happy they had found someone.
Yiakin smile slowly faded as she thought of her parents. She had smiliar exprencines with her parents that most of the other Inartas had with theirs. She just happen never to have seen her's again. Yiakin stopped thinking of her parents. She looked around the market again. "The winter is a nice time of year. It always seem to be peaceful." She said not really thinking about it. She alway enjoyed the snow and how it made everything white. Like the world was one color for the time being. She also enjoyed how after the snow melted that spring would come bring new colors and more animals to hunt. Thinking of hunting she had to practiced her archery skills if she planed on getting anything to impress a Wind Eagle. "Are you a Endal?" She blurted out before turely thinking about it. "That was rude." She said laughing softly at herself. She played with the end of her braid, twriling it around her fingers over and over again.

Running Into New Acquaintances [Yiakin]

Postby Maria on March 1st, 2013, 7:50 pm

Not really thinking about what she is doing, Maria completely ignores Yiakin's question about which way they should go. Instead her attention has been captivated by a little bird that by the looks of it is for sale in one of the stalls. What is so interesting about the bird is that it seems to have gone nuts. Its just pacing back in forth in its cage, twitching its head in weird directions and then turning in that direction. It then will eat and drink, clean its feathers and go back to pacing. It keeps doing this cycle over and over, making Maria wonder if this is normal or if something is wrong. Either way, Maria is paying more attention to the bird than to the person in front of her.

Her attention however is turned back to the girl, when she hears a question blurted out from her mouth. Maria's blue eyes turn from the bird and the cage and look back to Yiakin. She almost laughs at how ridiculous the question is, but she doesn't. Instead she simply thinks up and answer for the girl. The answer is quite simple and it doesn't take long for Maria to come up with it, but she really hates having to say it. For the one dream the girl has always had was to become an Endal. And she used to say she was one. When she was young and naive and her parents were Endals. But sadly, that time of her life is over now.

"No," Maria answers, "I am not. And I am guessing that because you had to ask you are not one either?" Her words end in a question, but at the same time they sound rather awkward for she hadn't planned on speaking them. They just sort of spilled out of her mouth last minute.

Running Into New Acquaintances [Yiakin]

Postby Yiakin on March 2nd, 2013, 7:15 am

Yiakin smiled softly. "Not yet, but, hopefully, soon I will be." She said happily. Thinking about the day when she will become a Endal. She looked around the Market. Thinking about the time. The time. She wondered what time it was. "Do you know what time it is, Maria?" She asked. Thinking about what she had to do today. She couldn't remember but it was something important. She looked around the market some more looking at the birds and the necklaces they had to sell. She walked over to one of the booths picking up a beautiful blue and red glass necklace.
She smiled at it. It was like swirls of red and blue in the glass making it look like it was moving. She liked the jewelry. When she became a Endal she planed on being some jewelry. She smiled at Maria. "Have you seen this necklace? It's so beautiful!" She exclaimed, happier than she normally would be. She was making a new friend. She felt the smooth glass of the necklace. It was perfectly done. She set it back down carefully before going back to Maria. "What are your plans for the day after the market trip?" Yiakin asked making conversation.
