I'll open this topic to upload some most Spanish important songs in the early History, could be interesting for some people. Enjoy!

Cara al Sol

When the Spanish Civil War finished at 1939 the new Spanish Anthem was this, the ''Cara al Sol'' (Face to Sun) representing the new Fascist's ideals. This song is in the Spanish memories and our grandparents and parents had to sing this at school.

Primavera

When the Spanish Blue Division went to fight against Russian at the World War Two they listen the Russian singing their popular song ''Katyusha'' and the Spanish made their own version: ''Primavera'' (Spring)

Auras de Gloria

''Auras de Gloria'' was a popular song in the early XX century. In 1908 ''Auras de Gloria'' was the most singed song on the Military emplacements in Morocco, in the same year the song started to be the Infantery's Anthem.

El inglés que vino de London

''El inglés que vino de London'' (The English who cames from London) was a military march composed when Peter Kemp join to Spanish Foreign Legion.

Gypsy Kings - Volaré (My favourite)

Gypsy Kings was a international group who song Popular Spanish songs, they were born in France, but all of they are Spanish Exiliates' sons of the Civil War.

That's enough for today. Thanks!

Wow.. America totally stole the tune from that first song and used it in the "I've been working on the railroad" song.

...actually, according to google I am wrong. The railroad song apparently came out in 1898. Although I don't know if it had the same tune.

According to Wikipedia -

""I've Been Working on the Railroad" is an American folk song. The first published version appeared as "Levee Song" in Carmina Princetonia, a book of Princeton University songs published in 1894.[1] The earliest known recording is by the Sandhills Sixteen, released by Victor Records in 1927"

That predates 1939 and Cara al Sol, so if someone stole something it's the other way around. But I've been working on the railroads origins are unknown before that other than speculation from an Irish Folk song that is from around the early 1800's.

V, you knew someone would look this up right?
