The Employment Office

39th of Summer, 513AV

Savio sighed as he once again found himself looking up at the front of the Employment Office. The late afternoon sun was beating down on his head and shoulders but by then Savio was used to it since he had been working in it all day long. He was supposed to meet Seryk here before heading off to the Warfields but it seemed more logical to just go inside and look at the available jobs. They had made plans last night about heading into the Warfields, but stopping here first to see if they could earn a couple of Mizas.

Savio stepped inside the crowded main room and maneuvered himself over to the large board that had several listings for jobs available in the city and also the little side jobs that were available for those who were looking to earn an extra miza to two. It was those jobs that were interested.

As he eyed the ads, he found one that just so happened to be in the Warfield. A child was missing somewhere in there. That was a bad place to get lost for a little kid. A reward was advertised, but Savio was sure he would have done it for free even if it hadn’t listed. He took the paper off the board and moved to stand in line, keeping his eyes open for Seryk.

Seryk was whisteling a happy tune as he walked inside the employment Office, the blistering summer heat didn't faze the small man a bit. It was a lot hotter when he was slaving over a burning stove anyway. He glanced around and couldn't suppress a smile when he saw savio already lining up. He quickly walked over. "Hello savio, you ready for the warfields today?" he said with a big grin on his face he glanced towards the small piece of paper savio was holding, curious as to what

His grin faded when he read the job printed on it. He didn't even bother with checking the reward for the job. "Well, ready or not, we gotta get that kid out there. What the hell happened to the kid though. Don't the northern monks normally patrol the maze?" seryk shivered at how the kid would be feeling, lost in a maze filled with who knows what.

67th of Summer

Having realized she was going to be short on some income. Sayren went over to the Employment Office. She remembered there was a board that listed off extra side jobs that could earn some extra income on the side. This was mainly because she wanted to at least buy something for Revy. The woman had given her so much and what all had Sayren given her? Just late night romance so far...and that wasn't cutting it for Sayren.

When she arrived, she glanced at the board, looking for anything that would catch her interest. House under construction? Seemed simple enough, but she doubt she had the upper arm muscle to handle that just yet. Lost dog needs finding? What kind of creature was that? A dog? She might know more about the creature if she actually saw one, so since she wasn't sure what these creatures were, she skipped onto the next one on the list. Runaway slave! payment for capture? She narrowed her eyes. The subject alone got her stomach churning. She didn't approve of slaves. It just seemed to degrading, even for someone that you hated to the bone.

The last one appeared to be odd. Mutilated goat needs dealing with? She pulled the note off the board and started to read more about it.

Savio & Seryk: "We do." replied what could really be described as an enormous log of man that was busying itself polishing a nearby counter. "The boy-child wasss there, and then he wasssn't. We have looked, but it hasss been in vain." he continued, the circular motions of his arm becoming harder and jerkier. "We are few, ssso we asssk for sssome help."

He stopped for a moment and looked at the pair. "I sswear, sssometimessss I wonder if thisss new meat truly caresss, or if it jusst wantsss the fanssssy robess." The Dhani then shook his head and continued cleaning. "Go to the Northern Quarter and asssk for Franjo Franjic. He isss a good man. He can help you."

Sayren: It was strange. The note read thusly: "Animal found with heart and liver cut out, and sixteen markings carved into its spine. Kept frozen. See Anya Horvat, Southern Quarter for further details."

Savio cocked his head to the side when he heard the lisp in the giant man’s voice. It was an interesting accent of which he never heard before, but he didn’t want to intrude on the big man’s privacy by asking about his homeland.

“Thank you, Ser. We will go there right now and see what we can do.” Savio offered a respectful bow of his head before leading Seryk out of the building and into the summer heat once more.

OOCSavio wasn’t in the school until the 50th, so he didn’t know bones yet

Fall 1st, 513 AV.

Aider sighed as he looked up at the giant employment sign. He needed to earn some money and meet some new people. He pushed his way through the door and looked at the line, another sigh escaped his lips as he stepped into the line and waited for it to be his turn. As the line moved Aider finally made it to the front, he smiled and walked over to one of the monks who looked down at him. Aider returned the look and said
"My name is Aider Silander, Im good at talking to people and writing things down. I can also shot a bow, but Im not really that great at that."

Hey all, just wanted to say I am sorry for any delays and failed promises. I am getting ready for a huge trip out of the country as well as taking on a lot of extra shifts at work. The creative side of my brain hasn't been active as of late.

Aider

The monk looked up, and pursed his lips thoughtfully. One of arms reached and grabbed a sheet of paper, while anther scribbled down Aider's name. Two others sat clasped together, and these the Eypharian rested his head on. "Right. You can write and stuff? How bout working as a scribe in the Halls of the Robes? You organize the library, sometimes transcribe books, that kind of stuff. You'll make... ehhh 3 gold mizas a day." Finishing his speech, the man glanced up at his customer and patiently waited for an answer. As he did, two sets of fingers tapped out an odd rhythm on the wooden desk.

2th of Fall 513 A.V
The coolness of Fall began to set in, mornings began to bring dew upon the rooves of Nyka adding a glitter to the already unreal town. A lone woman sat shivering in her coat on a bench in front of the reddish building that seemed small for the opportunities it held.
Assilsa sat nestled in her coat watching the world pass by, as she sat reluctant to apply for a job. During the long painful night of dealing with the severity of her wounds Assilsa had managed to wash her hair, skin and the surviving clothes she owned, all had been riddled with twigs and mud.
As she sat in silence reviewed her plans for Nyka of which she had a few, Assilsa could attempt to obtain a job that included her either learning her wanted trade, medicine and herbalism. Another plan was to train with her lash so if she was to ever to return to Ravok she could take on the slavers or at least defend herself.
Both of these plans seemed to revolve injuries either her own or others, however those choices seemed to be the only ones she would think off, maybe Assilsa foresaw these were her only choices in her future.
Dismissing those thoughts Assilsa slowly raised from the chair and began the small walk towards the open doors of the employment building. Four flags stood outside, each one of them different, Assilsa didn’t understand their meaning so she just slowly walked in.
The waiting room was simple filled with chairs and locals, the almost silent muttering made Assilsa nervous yet she still managed to wait in line to talk to wait Assilsa had learned was a monk. The line slowly shuffled forward, When it was finally Assilsa turn she fiddled absently with the chains of her earring.

Assilsa

The monk looked up at the odd woman, eyebrows raised. Still, she didn't comment on the Sym's appearance, but did have an answer ready almost as soon as Assilsa was finished. "Hunting?" she asked, scribbling down the name she was given on a sheet. "You could always hunt game for the city. Go out to the woods and such. It's a decent income to tell the truth- 5 gold mizas a day, actually. How does that sound?"

3rd of Fall, 513

The concept of getting a job was as foreign as everything else in Nyka had been so far, but the idea of hard work was second-nature to the Chaktawe. If Kiaramali planned to stay in the city, she would need to support herself. The sooner she found work, the better. There was no telling how long she’d last on the rations in her posession.

She took her place at the end of the line and waited to be called on. When her turn finally came, the monk called on her to list her skills. Just like that, as though her skills were all that defined her.

If nothing else, the last part was truth. Every pair of eyes in the room seemed to judge her—every pair of eyes that had cast her way since she’d arrived in Nyka all did the same. They labeled her an outsider.

As part of the hands of the Tatsuwaat tribe, Kiaramali had never been an outsider anywhere until now.

The monk cleared his throat, bringing her reality crashing down around her once more.

“I dabble in fortune telling, I’m a good tracker...”What else? She couldn’t remember anything with all those eyes staring at her.
