[Windswept Condos] Legacy (Rinya)

Rinya did not really make very much comment on his own fascination with the history of 'w', beyond mentioning it and quirking an eyebrow at him. He grinned sheepishly back, his face flushing slightly and he coughed a bit before continuing on. She also asked whether or not someone could simply write 'w' with two 'u's rather than 'v's, something Jorin hadn't considered. Then she drew the letter onto his chest with the rounded bottoms instead of the sharp edges he'd shown her.

"I suppose you could," he mused. "In the end the real question is if someone reading your text can understand what you are writing. So long as it is legible, I don't think it really matters if your 'w' has rounded bottoms or not." Jorin shrugged slightly, watching Rinya carefully as her face became a mask of concentration, trying hard to get the letter right. It was something he was learning about her - that she took learning seriously and wanted to get things right the first time.

"It was simply how the letter was taught to me," he explained further, as she successfully completed 'w', and Jorin smiled and congratulated her on a job well done. "But of course, every single person has their own flourish to their writing. Their own personal mark, you could say. No two people's writing is ever the same."

The truth was, Jorin couldn't stop the surge of desire from rising if he tried. He knew his wife felt it - Rinya was always as present in their bond as he was. Even as the kiss continued, he was concentrating on Rinya, and that meant he was also concentrating on how soft her skin was, pressed against his. It would have been quite easy to turn the kiss more passionate, to simply let the desire bounce between them like it always did, feeding off one another until it overwhelmed their senses and their reason.

But Jorin knew that while Rinya would never deny him his affections, she would be disappointed that they wouldn't have finished their lesson. Especially since they were so close to the end. Only three more letters, he told himself, even as the inevitable disappointment ran through him. Only 'x', 'y', and 'z' left, and she would have the whole alphabet. After that, it was only a matter of repetition, to ensure she learned all the letters.

But even despite the fact that they had broken the kiss willingly, without it escalating further, Jorin couldn't help the surge of emotions that flowed through him simply from that one act. Rinya had kissed him back just as lovingly, just as passionately, and as always they fed off one another until the feelings were all-consuming in their heads. It was almost a bit dizzying, honestly, but in a very good way, and he never wanted it to stop.

How different from their first shy kiss this one was. They'd barely brushed lips then, nowhere near the deep passion that they shared in bed together. And yet even then, Jorin remembered how it had felt. Like lightning surging through his body simply via contact with her lips, the kiss sending a charge straight through his heart. The bond was very fuzzy then, but he knew that she felt something that day too, though of course he couldn't know if it was nearly intense as it was for him. He suspected it had been.

Rinya muttered his name a second time when he pulled her in close, and Jorin just held her there. He could recognize the warning in her tone, and more to the point, he could feel it across the bond. She wasn't pushing him away - not really - but she was telling him that enough was enough. And she was right. At this rate they'd never get finished. So he pushed on, showing her 'x', before kissing her once again, this time much more lightly.

Rinya's soft sigh and attendant contentment made him smile with simple happiness. It always pleased him to see his wife so content. Like everything she wanted in life, she had. Sure, the two of them were young. For many, undoubtedly they were moving ridiculously fast. They'd only been married for less than a season and they were already agreeing to make children together - some couples took years to come to that conclusion.

But Jorin had never been one to feel like there was ever any reason to delay something you knew was right. For her part, Rinya decided to reply to his sentiment about loving her, telling him that she loved him as much as he loved her. Rinya's face flushed and she looked down shyly, and he couldn't help but feel a fresh surge of love for her. He loved all parts of his wife, of course. But he couldn't deny he was especially fond of this side of her. The shy girl who blushed prettily as she admitted her love for her husband... it was a side that she never showed anyone else.

She wanted to show him that she loved him, as much as he did. Jorin shook his head, taking Rinya's hand and pressing it again to his chest. He held it there, while taking his own right hand and pressing it to hers. "My love, you show me you love me every day," he insisted, waiting for Rinya to look back up at him before continuing. "You show my by smiling for me when you come home every evening, even if it hadn't necessarily been the best day. You show me by loving every part of me, even the silly little quirks other people probably find weird or stupid. Most importantly... Rinya you show me you love me every time we touch or kiss. Words can lie. This..."

At the speaking of the word 'this', Jorin leaned in, kissing Rinya again, knowing from the bond and the feel of her heart beneath his hand that the strong yet tender emotions were crossing to her. Every kiss told him she loved him. Every single one, without fail. He couldn't see how she could think she wasn't good at showing her affection for him. As far as he could tell, she was great at it. He couldn't imagine how it could've been any clearer even if she'd shouted it from the rooftops.

"This cannot," he concluded breathlessly as the kiss ended. "We've always been better communicating without words, love. Especially when it came to what we feel for each other. Just because you might not be able to form what you feel into words, doesn't mean you're not good at showing me anyway." Jorin smiled softly, as his hand gently squeezed Rinya's over his heart before proceeding to stroke the back of her hand softly with it.

"Now let's see that 'x', love," he insisted, and watched carefully as his wife drew the letter onto his skin. It was a fairly simple letter, and she got it quickly. He had to correct her slightly, as she had a tendency to elongate the letter a bit too much, but she got the hang of it quickly enough. He knew they'd have to do a full review of all the letters at some point, but tonight they simply wanted to get the last remaining ones out of the way.

Once Jorin was satisfied that Rinya had finally learned 'x', he turned his attention to the second-to-last letter. "Well, the second-to-last letter in the common alphabet is 'y', and in fact you've already seen this letter once before," Jorin announced, and instead of grabbing his quill, he simply returned to the very first page of the poetry book. The one that contained his name... and hers, right below it.

"Here it is... 'Rinya'. The most beautiful name in the world, because of who it is attached to," he whispered as he traced his fingers over the letters. His eyes were glued to the soft gentle curves of the letters. Interesting, how it curved like that, much like the woman it belonged to. "The 'y' is the second-to-last letter in your name. The only one you didn't know when I introduced it to you..."

Jorin looked back up at his wife. The bond flooded with love, more than the usual, as he felt it swell inside him. He wanted her to know what she meant to him, and the lessons were nearly over anyway. "This book, these pieces of my soul, they're both yours already. I wrote your name in here, mainly so that anyone else looking at it would know, but everything that is me, belonged to you long before." With a gentle smile, he started tracing 'y' a few times onto Rinya's shoulder, before writing her name, slowly and deliberately, across her arm. When he had finished, he took her hand and softly placed it on his chest, silently prompting her to try for herself.

"Only one more letter left to go after this, love," he smiled. He would miss these lessons, honestly. Certainly, they were sometimes interrupted by their mutual distractions, but they were fun. Interesting. He learned many interesting things about his wife while teaching her the Common alphabet. And even though he knew their evenings would not exactly fall silent once the lessons stopped, he wondered if he should continue to trace letters onto her skin anyway, even after the lessons ended. Just as a reminder to make sure she didn't forget what she learned, of course. Yeah... that was what he was going to go with.

Jorin took her opinion of the ‘w’ into serious consideration, and after a moment seemed to agree with her that so long as it was clear what she had written there was no reason why it couldn’t be rounded across the bottom. It had honestly only been speculation at that point for her, but Jorin stated that it was just how he was taught and she found absolutely nothing wrong with that. It was probably wise to just follow his example anyways--she didn’t need to make simple mistakes this early on in her lessons. She could experiment later when she had the alphabet down without missing letters.

Rinya still enjoyed how easy it was to make Jorin happy. A simple sigh, or feeling of content could make him beam with joy. Of course she was just as easy to please--she did have everything she wanted, even if she hadn’t always known it. For the longest time she didn’t even want anything, save for the ability to just survive another day. It was odd--in some ways it seemed she had been looking for something, or rather someone… even beyond the bond. Rinya had just never paid enough attention to realize it. Or maybe it had been avoidance--the fact she didn’t want to rely on someone else to help her.

But Rinya had known Jorin would deny the fact that she did not show him affection. She suspected he probably didn’t quite get her meaning and she found herself correct as he tried to explain all the ways she showed him love. Granted Rinya did not expect to show him love exactly as he did, but to her it wasn’t just enough to smile… though in the very least Jorin understood the meaning behind her more silent attempts at affection. Her fingers squirmed under his hand against his chest, not in an attempt to get away but to better feel his heartbeat. He punctuated that words could lie and trailed the sentence off to kiss her instead.

As always she accepted and returned the kiss, but if nothing else he proved her point more than anything--at least to her. Rinya merely grunted as he told her that just because she couldn’t form the words did not mean she didn't do a decent job at showing him love. Shaking her head slightly, she sighed roughly before looking back at him. "It’s not words I’m talking about Jorin. This," Rinya leaned forward to press her lips to his for just a moment. Enough to flare the emotions they felt but she drew away nearly as quickly as she approached. "You do that all the time… so effortless."

While technically the kiss she had given him had been fairly effortless as well, the fact remained it had been a kiss to more show than tell. "I still have a hard time…being unafraid to show you." Rinya shrugged awkwardly, ignoring the blush on her face and went back to staring at his chest. Jorin of course would not be upset by this--she knew that much--but it upset her to some extent. Rinya may have never denied him a kiss or a touch, but Jorin had grown comfortable being able to do it any time he wanted. For some reason Rinya still held back slightly… as if she could upset him by doing so… which was utterly ridiculous. Jorin made her feel wanted all the time, but she was afraid she would come across as needy... in a bad way--again--ridiculous, but it was there none the less.

Her fingers began to move under his hand, tracing the letter ‘x’ into his skin as he had asked of her. The first few strokes of her fingers must have been incorrect and Jorin used his hand to guide her correctly until she could repeat the letter over and over without much flaw. Without pause this time, he moved onto the next letter, scrolling back through the poem book back to the first page that scrawled the letters of their name across it. He traced his fingers across her name, staring at the name of the page very much like he did her. Was that what she looked like when she stared at his name? Rinya could feel his emotions swell , and her face flooded red once again. She couldn’t even look up at him when he moved his eyes from the page to her, staring at the book intently as he insisted that no matter what--the pieces of soul he had placed into this book through hard work and ink all belonged to her before anyone else. It wasn’t new information either, but Rinya had no idea how to respond to it. Instead she swallowed thickly and simply nodded in confirmation, glancing up at him out of the corner of her eye.

Jorin took the usual route in showing her how to draw the letter into her skin, before tugging her hand back to his heart in a silent signal to show him if she had picked up on the letter. Biting down on her bottom lip, Rinya went about tracing the letter ‘y’ delicately into his skin, almost unaware that her finger had begun to flourish the end of the ‘y’ all on her own. At first it was simple, but her finger began to trace across his ribs after each finished ‘y’ with more and more arc to travel lightly across his ribs. After several chimes Rinya realized she had actually dazed out slightly and she looked up sheepishly--pulling her hand away. "Sorry.. uhm… next?"

[Windswept Condos] Legacy (Rinya)

Rinya had shook her head when he'd told her that she always was able to show him that she loved him, insisting that it wasn't words she was talking about. She kissed him then, emotions flaring in both of them at the brief contact of lips, before pulling away and saying that he did it all the time, that it was effortless. Jorin quirked his head slightly, as he honestly wasn't sure he was fully understanding her meaning. Of course it was effortless. He loved her. Why would it require any effort on his part to show it?

Rinya admitted then, that she had a hard time being unafraid to show him that she loved him too. She blushed again, eyes falling to his chest as Jorin couldn't help but reach out to gently stroke her face, smiling at the instant reaction she had to the touch. He wasn't upset at all, though he still disagreed on a rather fundamental level. He thought his wife very much did show him how much she loved him, but he supposed she wanted to show him more.

"You don't ever have to be afraid, Rinya," he insisted, as he drew her in close, wrapping his arms around her shoulders and nuzzling her neck. Her softness and warmth spread throughout his body and he just closed his eyes and allowed the feeling to spread everywhere, before sighing slightly and pulling back slightly to look her in the eye. "In some ways you and I are quite similar. We both don't change our minds once they're made up. I've chosen you, Rinya. Just like you chose me. No matter what, I will always be by your side. There's never anything to fear."

After all, Rinya had already shown him that she loved him, and only him. When she was sick, and not in her right mind, she still chose him - in fact he was the only thing she could focus on. Jorin knew that if he had been in the same situation, his first thoughts would be of Rinya as well. That was only one of many ways they showed they loved one another. Sure, Jorin often got there first when it came to initiating touches and kisses, but he still knew that Rinya loved him.

Jorin noticed that Rinya flushed red once more when he traced her name with his finger. It made her look both beautiful and incredibly cute, and he felt the tender emotions cross the bond when he told her that the pieces of his soul in his poetry book were hers. He didn't think she quite understood his actual meaning - that they had been hers, long before he'd written her name into it. That his soul was always hers, and would have been even without letters scrawled onto paper.

Nonetheless, he silently drew 'y' for her a few times before asking her to reciprocate, and she did, each time arcing the letter a bit more as she traced across his ribs. Jorin could feel Rinya's emotions settle into a pleasant daze, and he smiled as she seemed to completely relax, just tracing her finger across his skin. Jorin almost chuckled. And she said she didn't show him how she loved him - as far as he was concerned, she was doing it right at that moment.

Rinya seemed to snap out of it after a few chimes, with a sheepish look she pulled away and asked what was next. Jorin felt a slightly disappointed - it was very nice having Rinya just relax, the bond filled with nothing but positive emotions, soft and gentle and happy. But the lesson was nearly done - wait! Jorin's brow furrowed slightly. There was something missing.

He knew they'd gone over 'u' in periphery. He'd mentioned how it almost always followed 'q', and he'd mentioned it in passing while teaching his wife 'v' and 'w' - noting how 'v' is basically a 'u' with a sharp bottom, and how 'w' is pronounced 'double u' but is actually written 'double v'. But try as he might, he never actually covered 'u' itself. Or at least, he didn't think he did. Jorin almost wanted to slap his own head. Here he was, teaching Rinya the Common alphabet, and he actually missed a letter. His father would have his head.

"Ah, well," Jorin coughed, himself now sporting a rather sheepish grin. "We might have to backtrack juuuust a bit," he sighed. Well, there was no getting around it. There was an order to the letters, and it was best for Rinya if she learned the letters in that order. She certainly knew of 'u' in periphery but he wanted to ensure she actually knew it. And that meant they had to officially cover it, as they had done for all the others.

"It, uhm, well it seems I accidentally forgot to cover 'u', at least officially," Jorin confessed, his face flushing with embarrassment at the oversight. He looked away slightly, even though he knew his wife would not judge him for his forgetfulness. It was still embarrassing - he'd developed a slight ego, teaching her. She picked up so quickly he'd actually thought he was some sort of good teacher, but this lapse in memory showed him he had a long way to go.

"Anyway, as you may know, 'u' actually precedes 'v' and is after 't'. It looks like a 'v' except with a rounded bottom." Jorin drew the letter onto Rinya's arm, watching carefully to ensure his wife was paying attention before taking her hand and placing it on his ribs so she could show him that she'd learned it. Jorin had considered actually writing the letter out on the page for her, but thought better of it.

She'd seen it before, actually, when she was learning 'q' (as the letter 'u' immediately proceeded it), he just never actually asked her to practice writing it. Rinya, however, proved to be a very sharp woman, and easily remembered the letter from before. Jorin figured she might have even felt a bit annoyed, since technically he had taught the letter to her, just not in the official way he'd taught the others.

But Jorin sensed no annoyance or anger from his wife as she dutifully copied the rune onto his skin. For some reason, it just made his heart clench more with tender love for her. She forgave him so much - more than he really deserved, honestly. He would have completely understood if she'd been upset - it was his oversight that was now making extra work for her, but it didn't even occur to her to be mad about it.

Jorin found it strangely difficult to move onto the last letter, even after he congratulated Rinya on a job well done. With 'z', their lessons on letters would end, and he was strangely nostalgic for it, despite all the teasing and distractions. Perhaps because of all the teasing and distractions. Somehow, they'd managed to tie learning letters into their lives, and he learned so much about his mate, his wife, in these lessons of theirs.

"The last letter is 'z'," Jorin said finally, after a few ticks. He quietly reached over to the poetry book and Rinya's quill, carefully writing the word 'zenith' on the page. It was quite literally the only word that came to mind when he searched his memory for words that began with 'z'. It was truly one of the least-used letters in the Common alphabet if it was that difficult for him to come up with examples.

"The word here is 'zenith'," he explained, as he carefully set aside Rinya's quill. In truth, the quill was not worth anything monetarily. Yes, Osprey feathers were not altogether easily acquired but still, in terms of hard Mizas, Rinya's quill wasn't worth all that much. But it had been a gift, one she'd given from her self, and from her heart. And because of that, in Jorin's eyes, the Quill he'd made from her feather was absolutely priceless. Irreplaceable, just like the woman it had come from.

"It begins with the last letter of the alphabet, 'z'. The letter kind of looks like a backwards 's', except not as curvy and more sharp." Jorin shrugged slightly. "It's also not exactly a frequently used letter in Common, but it's still in the alphabet so..."

Jorin drew 'z' onto Rinya's arm, as usual working his way down to the palm of her hand. The smoothness of her skin beneath his touch was almost hypnotizing, and Jorin couldn't help but draw her up closer a bit, so that she was almost half laying across him, before pressing her hand against his chest to repeat the letter onto his chest.

"And that's the last letter in the alphabet," Jorin breathed. "You know... for all that you learned these last few lessons, I learned quite a bit too." He smiled gently at her as she continued to practice 'z'.

"You say that you're sometimes have a difficult time being unafraid to show me that you love me," Jorin whispered, deliberately echoing Rinya's earlier words. "Like I said, love. You don't ever have to be afraid. Not with me. I love every single part of you. I love you as a woman, and as a bird. You are Rinya, and I love all parts of you." Jorin stalled Rinya's roving hand, pressing it up against his heart.

"You have no idea how much I need you," he insisted, as he drew Rinya up and making sure to look directly into her beautiful golden eyes. "You say sometimes that it could have been someone else. I say to you that no one else could have understood me like you. Who could know in her heart, when to be soft, and when to push back. You are everything that I need."

He wasn't sure if she fully understood. There was just so much he could say on this subject. And for once, his fancy words were failing him. So rather than using them, he simply decided to continue embracing his wife, looking at her lovingly while caressing her face gently with his hand. For once, he did not lean in for a kiss, though his tender love for her still floated across the bond. Rinya had said she wanted to show him she loved him - said he did so for her so effortlessly. So Jorin just continued to smile at her gently, and gave her that chance.

[Windswept Condos] Legacy (Rinya)

Rinya shrugged as Jorin insisted that she didn’t have to be afraid. She knew that, of course she knew that but… it was always easier said than done not to be afraid of something - even if that something included Jorin. With him pressing her up against him and nuzzling her neck it was easy to forget however that she was the one that was ‘supposed’ to be the one showering him with attention, not the other way around. His presence did all sorts of things for her mind, but one of them was that she forgot what she was planning on doing and simply letting him sweep her up in emotions. Terribly simple, but terribly easy in the same line.

"I know you chose me Jorin, I just..." Rinya blew out a breath, attempting to shift some hair that had fallen across her face instead of reaching up to move it. "Somehow when you show me affection it feels natural and just… right. But I over think it, always thinking if I tried to do the same that it would come off needy and insecure." Rinya shrugged again, only this time more out of embarrassment. Her father’s upbringing about how males treated females never had really justified with Jorin - and still didn’t really - but it was a hard habit to shake at times. Sometimes it really was just so easy to draw him for a kiss or to show him just what she wanted exactly, but most of the time it was her - reacting to him. Willingly of course.

The twinge of disappointment that clouded the bond when she pulled away from her daze confused her a little, perhaps because she hadn’t been paying attention to his reaction in the first place. His face shifted from happy, to a slight frown and because of her recent mindset she wondered if she had done something wrong. Jorin coughed slightly, telling her that they would have to backtrack a little and she couldn’t help but frown this time. Why ever would they need to backtrack? Rinya’s eyebrows shot up slightly as Jorin mentioned that he had forgotten to show her the letter ‘u’. Well… that certainly accounted for backtracking she supposed.

She did have a little knowledge already about the letter, but as Jorin tried to tell her where it exactly sat in the alphabet, Rinya found she couldn’t quite place it. More than likely Jorin would have to write out the whole alphabet later and give her an example to go by despite the fact that ‘t’ and ‘v’ seemed to sit very close together. But she traced the symbol none the less into his skin as he encouraged her without complaint. Honestly she had no right to be upset considering the fact he still had to help her with the order the letters were supposed to go in. Besides it was too easy considering ‘v’ itself was so very cousin like to ‘u’.

As they fixed their apparent ‘missing letter’ issue, Jorin moved on to the final letter. Much like he felt, Rinya knew she would miss this as well. Of course she got to move on to actually trying to read after this point - something she had been dying to do for some time now. The ability that she might get to read his poems made the slight disappointment over the lesson dulled, and Rinya watched as Jorin wrote yet another new word for the newest - and last - rune she had to learn. The letter itself looked… well not complicated, but certainly more different than all the rest. Perhaps that was why it wasn’t such a common letter?

Jorin traced the letter one last time into her skin, trailing it down slowly as her eyes followed the sharp points and long lines of the letter. On her own turn she traced the rune silently into his skin, trying her best not to over do the lines, but Jorin still had to correct her now and again. He mentioned that as this was the last letter of the alphabet, that he had learned quite a bit himself. Rinya blinked and looked up at him confused, but he barreled onward about how she shouldn’t be afraid to show him how she felt. Rinya wanted to argue that it was just easier to react to his affection than it was to start her own, but he already knew that. After all he took advantage of that all the time.

He pressed her fingers against his chest once again and Rinya licked her lips slightly. It was there again, hanging between them that he was likely to say something that would take her breath away. His next words proved her right as he insisted that he needed her, that no one could understand him like she did. Honestly when it came time to push her mate, it was simply instinctual… nothing more. Maybe for them it did just come naturally, and Rinya much rather preferred to think of it that way. But normally his words were followed by a kiss, only this time one did not come.

Instead Jorin just drew her in close, with her lying half across him with one of her legs falling once again between his. Her hand still stalled across his heart while his own simply stroked her face - waiting. There was a kind of expectation dwelling across the bond, as if he really was just waiting for something - for her. She considered the fact that she could scold him… that it wasn’t entirely natural for him to just lay back and expect it of her, but she also knew he was trying to give her that window… to show him like he did for her. So instead Rinya pressed her pride into the back of her mind. Like many other emotions, it was one that did not belong in their bed, much less in a relationship such as theirs.

Shyly Rinya took her opportunity, leaning forward slowly in order to press her lips against his. Stopping for a moment just short of kissing, she simply stared down at him - locking eyes not to judge but in consideration of the three simple words. But really they didn’t need to be said - kiss or not - so instead she nudged his nose with hers before smiling softly at him and finished the distance between them.

It really wasn’t so bad to take the lead sometimes.

This grade was brought to you by the letters A and W! For 'Awww....' :)

As with all emotional threads like this, it's always difficult to encapsulate everything you learn about each other into lores, but I did my best. There was a lot of talking here, but I really didn't feel Socialization was warranted, given the seriousness of the topics.

As usual, a lovely, lovely thread. Riverfall will be sad to see you go...
