"... Are you sure this is safe, Mommy?" Svasra asked as she eyed the four-person tent her mother displayed in their living room. Well, the packaging at least. Her mother turned to her, laugh lines around her mouth tugging as she frowned fretfully.
"Of course, little snowflake, why wouldn't it be?"
"Because it's too small, and it claims it can fit four people," Svasra said bluntly, jabbing a tiny finger at the print that advertised it 'Can fit up to four adults!!' very excitedly.
"Snowflake, it expands."
"How?"
"You have to build it."
"We're not Iceglaze." Her parents sighed and shook their heads, obviously giving up on the argument.
"Trust me," her father interjected, his deep voice drawing Svasra's narrowed gaze to him.
"Alright, don't let me down," Svasra pouted, trotting off to her room as her parents finished preparations.

Apparently, they were to go camping. They claimed it was deep in the wilderness, and over the snowy hills to the lands where even Morwen cannot reach!! Svasra overheard them saying they would just set up by the Springs, since it was close to Avanthal, and to a bath! Svasra was happy to finally sleep somewhere else rather than her Arvinta, and out beneath the lights of Morwen. Her father would tell stories ... they would have food, and sit around their lantern ... it was going to be fun! Svasra hummed lightly as she played with a ball of ice her father had brought home for her. It had come to her in the shape of a snowflake - almost perfectly replicating her gnosis mark, though since then Svasra re-shaped it into a ball of ice she could toss around and have much more amusement out of.

As she threw the ball into the air, Svasra let her mind wander and think of more whimsical things. We're going on an adventure ... Her hands caught the ball and held it, feeling the coldness of it subconsciously. To somewhere fun and new.
We're gunna have a great time....
Svasra paused and frowned.
And we won't smell like poo? She didn't think that worked that well ...

We'll go on an adventure
Just you and I
In a land of ice and snow
Under Morwen's sky

Who knows what will happen?
Or what will transpire?
The song that we might sing?
Around the glowing fire

Let's just keep walking
Until our feet will tire
Then we'll take a rest
And tell our stories
By the fire!

Svasra smiled as the poem formed in her mind, and nodded to herself. She always loved having something new to share with her parents!
"Svasra Snowsong!" came her mother's voice, sharper than usual. Aw, melted ice, what now? Svasra leaped off her bed, ice globe abandoned in the middle of her floor and peeked a head out of the door. Her mother stood with her hands on her hips and glared playfully. "We've been calling your name for almost two chimes, c'mon, we're ready!" Minara exclaimed, lugging a heavy-looking pack. Svasra nodded and reached for her own pack that had be done up by her parents, of course, trotting after them obediently.

We're going on an adventure . . .

Camping with the Family

Svasra peered at the tent her parents set up, as they spoke in rapid Vani and muttered curses they thought she couldn't hear. It didn't look quite right .... Tilting her head, she squinted at the lope-sided right end, but didn't say anything as Minara tugged at the fabric absently. "I don-" she was cut off as some pole fell over. Stifling a mild snort, Svasra giggled as she made a snow angel, letting her parents worry over the tent and things.

As she wandered off, Svasra peeked at the Springs; a short jaunt from where her parents had settled, she was careful to stay away from the edge. Small creatures swam midst the depths, tiny frogs if Havok had told her right, and steam warmed her face as their mysterious heat wove around her. Closing her eyes, Svasra could almost imagine she was in some dewy forest her parents told her lay so far South. The ones with massive trees, and leaves, and big furry friends! Would it really be so humid there? She hoped not. "Svasra! We're finished, come help us with the rest!" Minara's voice called over, summoning the young Vantha to move back to the meagre camp site.

Peering at her parent's handiwork, Svasra nodded in childish approval, wearing the air any know-it-all child would. "Good work!" she chimed, helping roll out the bed mats. "So ... what do you do when you're camping?" she asked as she wandered around as her parents tried to coerce her into helping more.
"You can do lots of things, Siv," Havok said, pausing as he adjusted some wood. "One of them is share stories, and sing songs, like we'll do tonight. With bigger groups you can go hunting, play games, all sorts of fun."
"I have a new poem to share!" Svasra eagerly exclaimed, dancing around the pile of sticks.
"Then you can share that tonight. Now, Svasra, please unpack some of the supplies in the tent, you haven't even spread out the blankets."

About a bell passed before Svasra was allowed to dangle her feet in the Springs, her parents relaxing on the other side, closing their eyes to breathe in the sweet smell. Svasra watched the moss, keeping still as her mother said, attempting to assure the small frogs she was approachable. "How long will I have to wait, Mommy?" she asked impatiently after a chime, splashing her feet in the water as some type of amusement. Minara only laughed lightly, and peered across the steam at the young Vantha.
"Longer than that, my little snowflake." Svasra pouted, but stayed resolute, laying back to relish the warmth on her legs while feeling the soft moss against her back. Having shed many of her outer layers, Svasra marvelled at the softness of the moss on her arms, wishing she could take some home to sleep with.

One day, a little girl went to the Springs in Avanthal. It was really warm, and she really liked to play in the water. It was like taking a bath, but no one was tugging her hair or making her wash her face!

Afterwards she laid down on the moss around the Springs, which was really soft like fur. She was waiting to see those little froggies that her daddy told her all about! They were supposed to be magical! They would ....

They would .... change colour!

Yeah!

And, they'd come in large groups and ... and swim in circles, changing colours in patterns. Sometimes they'd make colourful snowflake patterns, which was supposed to be a sign of good luck!

Then-!

"Look, Svasra, it looks like you might have made a friend," Minara called softly, her voice lowered to the tone she uses with young animals. Cracking open her eyes, Svasra slowly turned her head to peer at her outstretched arm, and the small frog that had settled on the back of her hand. Excitement grew inside her as she carefully brought the frog closer, peering at it with intense scrutiny. "You'll burn a hole in it, Siv, what are you studying it for?"
"I'm waiting for it ta change colour!" Svasra said, in a tone that was astonished her parents didn't know.
"Change colour?" Her parents exchanged a glance before covering their laughs, Minara gently adding, "Svasra, they don't change colour."
"In my story they do," Svasra said defensively, frowning as the little frog on her arm stayed resolutely ... green. It is still pretty cute though.

After having amused herself with the frog for a few chimes before wanting to move about, which caused the frog to leap away, her parents wanted to head back to the tent as night was beginning to fall.
"Come on, Svasra, it's time for the nighttime fun!"
