Basic questions

Postby Darkalin Pinewood on May 18th, 2014, 8:46 pm

I am thinking of going to Wind Reach, the closest city, and going by sea to Syliras, or Sunberth, and came up with some questions.

1. How long would it take me to get from Wind Reach to Sunberth by boat?
2. If I choose to go to Syliras, would anyone mind if I attempt to kill Kale Belmont?
3. Would anyone want to Mod the above?
4. Would a Symenestra be accepted into Sunberth or Syliras?
5. If I reach competent in Acrobatics, would I be able to front flip over a guy, while staying out of reach?
6. Where would I be more likely to find someone willing to teach Reimancey?
7. If I live in a tent, do I have to pay living expenses?

And that is all.

1. A super long time. Like, a couple years. Mizahar is big.
2. You could try, but you might want to run it by the storyteller first. Attempting to kill NPCs, especially ones with names, usually is the sort of thing they'r want moderated :)
3. It's possible, but you might want to start smaller and establish yourself as a PC first (not to mention train your skills to the point where success is even possible). Prove you respect Mizahar and its world before running off to kill its NPCs :)
4. Sunberth accepts pretty much anything (except mages). (Also, for lose definition of "accept".) I'm not as familiar with Syliras's attitude (Radiant, the Domain Storyteller, would know for sure). My guess is, they'd be permitted, but any sign of trouble would come with...consequences :P
5. You might be able to do a front flip, but in order to get over a guy, AND stay out of reach, would require you to jump pretty high. At competent level, it seems like the sort of thing that you could attempt, but success is by no means guaranteed, and it would probably not be practical as a combat maneuver. You might succeed if the guy was standing perfectly still and you were 100% focused on the flip and not on, say, not getting stabbed :P
6. Your best bet is to probably find a player. Maybe look in the matchmaking forum?
7. Yes. Living expenses cover things like food and clothing. If you're not spending money on living expenses (or, alternatively, spending two threads a season demonstrating obtaining your own food, speak to your local ST for specifics), then you are starving, weak, malnourished, and probably dying. Not to mention cold, homeless, naked, and sober ;)

Travel times can be accessed here: http://www.mizahar.com/lore/Travel_times

1. Wind Reach to Sunberth would take various times depending on season so your question isn't answerable as is. The northern pack ice freezes the ocean making sea travel impossible for at least one season a year. Syliras is a lot further by sea than Sunberth, and you'd find yourself traversing much of the 40,000+ miles of coastline to get there. Sunberth I would get roughly would take two seasons to three seasons of travel by ship.

2. I'm sure folks would mind.

3. You'll need to ask a Syliras mod specifically.

4. Sunberth yes, Syliras not so much.

5. Depends on who you are fighting. But I doubt it. Symenstra aren't that strong at all. They are wily and lithe, but don't have a lot of muscle mass. You can kill them with a stern look if you have any decent skills.

6. Depends on where you are looking for an instructor. I doubt very many people would teach a Sym much of anything at all.

7. Everyone pays living expenses. Always.

Thanks to both of you. Maybe I should head to another port. Any Recommendations?

Trouble is it's sort of hard to get places from Kalea, since it's basically the opposite side of the world from Syliras. But if you've never specified precisely WHERE in Kalea you are, you might try to go to Alvadas. That's more centrally located, and it's a relatively quick hop across the Suvan to Syliras. If you wanted to go to Sunberth at that point, it might be faster to go by land, since the Sylira region has actual roads.

Or course, faster doesn't always mean safer ;)

Graders Please Note :
As Ball is getting closer and closer to maxing out Pyken as a skill, I would like to request that in places where Ball is not doing enough to constitute Pyken XP if Pyken technique lores could be issued instead.

Examples of proper XP level for Pyken would be: Ball developing or refining his technique by adding new thing against an actual moving target, not a dummy.

The use of basic skills alone are not enough to accomplish XP at Ball's current level of Pyken.

Thank you.

I will be handling all Ball related posts on Mondays @ 1800 my time *

Without going far and flung about Lykata-marked knights, Konti Seers, and the fact that Pinewood is a starting character with starting skills.

I say, your chance of success is -140%. :(
