Introducing The Araka - Godsblood NPCs and PCs

The Araka

Image

Just like The Gods can have offspring, the offspring of Gods often reproduce as well. These children of the Alvina are referred to as Araka. Araka means 'godsblood' in the Ancient Tongue. The Araka are dwellers in the Mortal Realm and do not have access to the Ukalas unless they bear gnosis marks from Gods that grant them access. Then, they are gifted navigators therein. Araka often appear with superior traits from normal mortals. They might have additional strength, enhanced beauty, iron will and determination, or even extremely high intelligence. Superior traits usually never comprise more than one or two characteristics. Arakas often have extreme personality traits due to their conflicting blood, manifesting in hard core zealots, sociopaths, egomaniacs even saintly or selfless types. They are not the best at all things. Often they are users of magic and explorers of the world.

Araka are never the strongest, fastest, bravest, or best all around. While they can have superior traits, they have equal weaknesses and flaws that come about because of the taint of their mortal blood. While they might enjoy superior health, they still age and die like the rest of their mortal counterparts. They often appear as a singular race such as Human, Isur, Konti, or Akalak despite their augmented blood. In many cases, Araka are ignorant of their divine bloodlines or connections to the Gods. There is no way to openly tell an Araka from a regular mortal without direct knowledge of their linage other than through their actions and the marks they leave upon the world.

PC characters are allowed to apply via the Help Desk to become Araka. The requirements are simple. Player Characters must have at least one year of active continuous play on Mizahar, at least a one thousand post count, and outline just how they are related to which existing God or Alvina and why in their help desk application.

Introducing The Araka - Godsblood NPCs and PCs

Question: Does it apply only to a new PC? As in, if you reach 1000 posts, you can only apply to be an Araka as a new PC or can it be a: "Oh my dear Lanta, I'm an Alvina baby."

If you qualify ( at least 1 continuous year on the site, at least 1k posts, and document your bloodlines) then you can apply. We wont' guarantee to give everyone Araka status, but if it makes sense and you've kept yourself out of trouble, odds are we won't give you a hassle about it and just say yes.

Well slap my thighs and call it Zulrav's thunder. That's exciting. :D

Another question: Are any of the current NPCs in the wiki actually Araka? ;D

I'm sure there are. But the one I can think of off the top of my head was Marcus Kelvic, Morwen's Grandson. He is kind of a special case though since he's Yshul's son too which makes him an Alvina to Yshul but a Araka to Morwen.

Ok, just to clarify, this applies to children of both gods and alvina?

If you are an Araka, you are a child of an Alvina who is a child of a God thus making you the granddaughter or grandson of a God.

We do not allow PCs to be Alvina, meaning the direct sons and daughters of Gods. Why? They have too much power. Araka are just exceptional individuals... which is in line to what PCs are supposed to turn out to be anyhow (above the whole NPC population).

Gotcha, and that makes sense! Thanks, Goss. :) I'm excited for this change!

Also, follow up question, are you planning on making any more Alvina to give a wider variety of Araka choices, or are you feeling like the Alvina we currently have are more than enough?

On that question: how do Akalaks, Konti, and Dhani fit into this if they are the children of gods and alvina?
