Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

(Training) A Quality Day Of Work

Having cleaned the new warhammer head off he gave it a look over. Heading back to the work table he got the metal cutters. Cutting off the excess channel with some effort he began to also cut off other excesses from mistakes he had made. When he could no longer get anything else off with the cutters he brought the hammer head over to the grind wheel.

Sitting down he began to kick the grind wheel pedal and spin the wheel up. After a little he began to grind down imperfections and additional excesses he could not reach with the cutters. Having ground things down he began to smooth over the hammer head with the grind wheel.

When he had finished with the grind wheel he got up and went to the work table. Now at the work table he got out some fine grit paper and began rubbing the hammer head down with it. Once it was smoother from the fine grit paper he got out a file and did some last bits of detail work.

(Training) A Quality Day Of Work

This process like usual for him had taken most of the work day so he went over and put the hammer head in the scrap pile already knowing it was bound for there anyways. For the last bits of his time at the Smithy for the work day David sharpened some swords on the grind wheel. Having sat down he gave one sword a convex edge for ease of sharpening. However one had to be careful not to give one side to much grinding or the sword would be off.

Another sword he gave a flat grind which was difficult and took a lot of extra work because he had to be very precise. Otherwise one side would be more angled then the other and lead to a ugly kind of sword.

(Training) A Quality Day Of Work

Postby David Arnim on August 3rd, 2015, 6:57 pm

After finishing up work David would leave the workshop and say hello to Haiduk on the way out of the smithy. Once outside he was of course met by the cool ocean breeze. A stark contrast to the dry intense heat of the forge and workshop. Now standing on the sidewalk in front of the smithy David thought on what to do next for the day. There was still afterall a few hours left in the day. So with that in mind David decided to go for a job over to the general market.

Jogging over to the Zhongjie Warren General Market he kept his pace up. After a bit of jogging he would arrive and resume walking doing a rather smooth-ish transition. Now looking through the market he began thinking of what he needed. Going through the crowds of people he looked around at the various sights, sounds, and vendors. After a bit he would spot some simple practice dummies for sale.

David thought and realized it had been some time since he last practiced his combat abilities. So with a smile he approached the vendor."Hello sir, I am interested in purchasing a practice dummy." he would say to the vendor who would pay quick attention."Ah very good, how many would you like?" he would ask."Just one." he would say prompting a nod from the vendor."One shall be 12 gm." the vendor said crossing his arms."12 GM? now that is hardly worth it. It's just a simple wooden cross with some old tattered leather strapped on stuck into a rock." he said with a pause."10 GM is what I am willing to pay for such a contraption, nothing more." he said to the now flustered vendor."11 GM." the vendor said trying to dig his heals in."10, and I mean it. In the future I might be in the market for more training equipment. I am not sure I would come to a place that sells above market value in the future." David said crossing his arms."Fine! 10 and it's yours." the vendor said prompting David to slap 10 GM into his hand."Great!" he said with a smirk.

(Training) A Quality Day Of Work

Postby David Arnim on August 3rd, 2015, 7:09 pm

Having acquired the weighted simple training dummy David began to with a lot of effort drag it back home. No doubt a couple or so people would ask if he needed help on the way, but he would insist that "I got this." each and every time. By the way he got it to his home no doubt things were starting to grow dark as evening came into full play. Dragging the training dummy to the center of his cottage he closed the door behind him.

Catching his breath David looked over the training dummy proudly as it stood in the center of his home. Deciding he wanted to get some training in before shut eye David went to his personal chest and got out his weapons and armor. Sitting down he meticulously put on his chainmail armor, his padded tabard, and then finnally his greathelm. Standing up from his sitting position he belted on his sword and scabbard and then grabbed his shield.

Gripping his sword he began to circle this enemy of a practice dummy imagining it as a large big mean bandit who was no less then seven feat tall! He imagined in his head the bandit was facing him down and had taken a defensive stance. David then quickly did a mock charge with sword raised however quickly came to a stop and brought up his shield to block the imaginary attack.

No doubt if someone saw this he would look extremely silly.

David having just blocked the imaginary attack stepped back and examined his imaginary dummy opponent further. He charged again bringing up his shield as he collided and smashed into the training dummy using it as a sort of battering ram. This caused the dummy to tip a little. Bashing the dummy with his shield again David then proceeded to raise his long sword and then hit the practice dummy with the pommel of his sword.

Stepping back with a shove of his shield David swung at the practice dummy right where the neck would be just above the strapped on leather. Due to his decent posture and solid enough stance he sent the black right into the wood chiping and cutting into a little. Withdrawing he brought his shield up and pulled his sword out taking a couple of steps back.

Lowering his shield a little he hopped forward bringing his sword up and swinging downwards. However on the down swing he adjusted the trajectory as a fake out measure and instead changed direction to hit the side. This sort of attack could potentially catch someone off guard in a intense fight. Cutting into the leather around the practice dummy he slashed and then pulled back.

He then ran forward and bashed the practice dummy with his shield with sword lowered and did a thrust a bit under and a bit to the side of his shield. Stabbing the lower portion of the practice dummy he then bashed it again and pushed off before he began to circle again looking for weakness.

Quickly he ran forward blocking imaginary attacks moving his shield to intercept them and then pushed into the dummy with his shield before bashing it in where it's face would be to disorientate them. David then proceeded to hack at their side cutting into the leather armor with each swing and cut. He dug himself in getting a good very stable stance as he then proceeded to hit the 'head' of the practice dummy with the pommel of his sword and then stab it in the 'gut'. Pushing back again he walked backwards with shield raised and got into his stance.

Running forward again he brought his sword this time into a defensive position as e brought his shield up and used one of the corners to bash the practice dummy right where the throat would be. David then kicked the practice dummy before bringing his sword to it's 'armpit' and slashing there quickly and powerfully cutting through the leather and into the wood.

David then didn't back up as much as he normally does and brought his shield up. Stepping forward quickly he brought his lowered sword into a swing and cut at the 'legs' of the practice dummy cutting into the wood. David then proceeded to bash the dummy with his sheild and began mercilessly beating it with the pommel of his sword and his shield.

Stepping back and panting David got back into stance and brought his sword up. Charging he brought his shield to the side and did a straight through right into the 'chest' of the dummy going through the leather. He did so arm fully extended and made sure to bring it back quickly and ten bring his shield back up to protect himself from the dummy.

He would continue this sort of training until he grew to tired and would take off his armor and equipment before retiring for the night.
