Stalk

Appearance

Race: Zith
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Birthday: 1st Winter 495
Birthplace: Cyphrus

Appearance:

Stalk stands around six foot tall his broad shoulders accentuating a lean physique. sue to his upbringing what little meat on him is writhing bands of muscle with scarce amounts of fat. His dark blue eyes seem to be sunk into his skull with dark bags under his eyes. Like all of his race he has an exotic appearance his face is too angular to be fully take as human and his teeth slightly too pointed.

His hair is unkempt and hangs roughly above his shoulders. Like his fur it is a dark black and matted in places.

His fur is midnight black and patchy on his arms courtesy of too many fights and brawls . His wings stretch magnificently behind him the dark leather as black as coal. A sharp claw extends a couple of inches from each long finger, the length varies depending on necessity as they can get in the way of some tasks.

Character Concept

Stalk is called this as his master said that he is made for stalking. He finds this description appealing but moreover it is easy for him to say.
As is such with his race Stalk is ruled by his instincts and is not afraid to 'ruffle feathers' to pursue these instincts. However his upbringing has forced him to evaluate the risks of pursuing his desires more than he feels would normally be necessary. The cutthroat nature of his life has re-enforced his natural survival instinct and has forced him to learn and adapt to interacting with humans, on some level at least.

Stalk doesn't have friends per say but has a collection of useful acquaintances. Of course when they are of no use to him anymore, they are of no interest to him. His first thought when meeting someone new is do they pose a threat to him? If the answer is yes then he has two options. Kill them if he believes he can, or back off and find a safer way of dealing with them. He can be quite civil to people, if he believes that they can be useful.

Character History

No one is sure of Stalks parentage, other than he is a full Zith. Stalk was brought at the Sunberth Slave market when he was a young child around 5 years old. He remembers little of his younger life other than brief memories of grass, other Zith and a collection of slaves. It is these memories that has led Stalk to presume he was born in Cyphrus as this is the only place his master could think of that had long grass.

His master, a rather grubby man known as the 'collector', was a cruel scathing man with a bad attitude and a quick temper. He lived in Slavers row in as reasonable a house as could be found in Sunberth . He had a reasonably large collection of slaves, 8 to 9 at a time, all young aged between eight and early teens. He liked to have a variety of races, hence his title of collector, and used them to do his bidding and earn money from larceny. The older boys, as they were all male, taught the younglings basic skills and at the end of the day the master would exchange earnings for food. If you didn't earn you didn't eat.

It was a tough existence. They boys were separated by age the younger ones sharing one dampo room and the older ones sharing another. The floor was their bed and a bucket the shared toilet, inevitably the weakest male got the duty of cleaning it each day. Fighting was common however the Collector was quick to administer swift intervention if it looked like one boy was going to kill another, after all they were his income. Inevitably competition was rife as earning, or rather stealing, was their only way of being fed. This led to the weak soon being identified and if they were not earning they would be quickly sold, or if they could not be sold their body would inevitably be found washed up after an 'unfortunate' drowning accident.

Stalks racial heritage gave him an advantage over the other boys. Whilst they had to work mostly in daylight he was comfortable at night and his enhanced hearing regularly saved him and his hard earned winnings from an unwanted ambush. His appearance also made the other boys, who were mostly human whilst he was there, wary of him.

Unbeknownst to Stalk once the boys hit and age were their physique and skills could pose a threat to their master, usually around 14-15 depending on the race of course, their master would sell them. This was usually to the sailors as men for their ships or sometimes to members of Sunberth who their master knew or knew posed little threat. Their upbringing gave his slaves a particular desired skillset which in some cases could drive up the price. If however a slave could not be sold they would 'disappear', afteral they would soon be getting to a size where they are too much trouble to be worth the risk.

Stalk however had proved to be a quick learner and his race had made him particularly useful on many an occasion and as such he had become his masters priced piece. He had never owned a Zith before and not many recided in Sunberth. Had he known more about the animalistic nature of the race however he may not have decided to keep Stalk as his possession. Stalk took a role of an overseer showing the basics to boys who were new, and dispensing swift justice to those that fell out of line.

The Zith grew an matured much quicker than his master had anticipated and by the time he was 12 he was fully grown. Stalk had become a useful tool for his master and as his master became older he relied more upon the Zith to look after day to day runnings of his slaves. This was a mistake. Around the summer of 509AV Stalk decided he was tired of being owned as he was now the superior hunter in his situation and it was not the place of the alpha to be enslaved. Late at night he banged on his master's door stating that he needed to hurry to the dorms quickly as the boys had managed to escape and were leaving with stolen food as they spoke. When his master rushed from his room he was easy for the Zith to surprise and with little emotion his sharp claws tore the throat out of the man that had once been the master.

It was than an easy case of rounding up the boys, marching them down to the docks and selling them to the first buyers that he could find. He did however keep one slave boy for himself, a crow kelvic who he renamed Beak. He did not try and drive a hard price. With the money he bought a house in the Sunset quarters were he now lives using his larceny and other skills to eek a living.

Stalk joined the Night eyes, after he had crossed paths with a member late at night that recognised his skills may be of use and advised him to write a message and give it to strange woman in charge of a large number of crows. He was then tested and joined their ranks. He finds it useful to be part of a group, for the time being anyway.

Since then he has enjoyed living amongst his 'prey' and frequently entertains himself by hunting and stealing amongst them to make a living.
