It was one of the colder days from the normal in Avanthal, but it doesn't really bother the young Inarta as he wrapped himself tightly with his cloak. Additionally Ascen has a hood over his face, and luckily the wind isn't as bad today so its not that cold. But its still cold enough that could be dangerous to be out for too long. Especially in Ascen's case since he does not possess a mark from Morwen. Still the boy doesn't plan to be out here in the cold for long since he was just browsing the wares at the market since it has been a while from the last time he came here. Mostly because the last time he came was when he first met Cosillia and Ascen was honestly skeptical about coming back here.

One can easily notice that he's occasionally glancing over his shoulder while searching for something, or that he's looking around the corners before he makes the turn. To the naked eye a bystander can easily assume that he's in some sort of trouble and most likely won't admit it. However underneath that Ascen is actually keeping an eye out for he's not sure when Cosillia is going to come back and possibly steal him away. It could be the next season, next year, or it could even be tomorrow. Ascen is not certain on what day Cosillia is going to be coming back, and that fact has put the boy a bit on edge.

There was some booths in the market that was temporarily ran by a variety of merchants and artisans wishing to sell their wares and buying stuff from the Vantha merchants. These goods range from the Inarta's famous glasswork to the Inarta's bows that is said to be one of the only bows that can pack enough power to pierce the thick hides of Taldera creatures. The bows sounded interesting to Ascen, but he already has a bow with only a few gold Mizas left over. So the boy instead turns his attention over to the glasswork. Noting that there's many glass beads and even beautiful goblets made out of pure glass yet has a blend of midnight blue with a sky blue hue to it. However Ascen wasn't really going to bother trying to buy it considering that he still has to pay for the expense for the next season. Considering that he doesn't have that much to spend since he technically would have to spend just one gold miza. In truth Ascen's brain was throbbing as he was thinking about it too much that he simply buries his face against his opened palm.

Phoenix Sheds a New Fire

Postby Evana Joywave on August 12th, 2016, 1:50 am

Evana strode through Avanthal at a brisk pace holding her cloak closely to her, she had arrived in the city that morning and having left the company of the traveling traders she had shared the road with was no undertaking the task that had brought her to the city.

During the last few weeks of spring she had received a letter that while out hunting her mother Ashe and her younger brother Ascen had not returned from their hunt. Their fate at the time had been unknown as Her mother had only given her Friends a very loose idea of where she planned to hunt on the tundra near the City of Avanthal. It was enough information for her plan to spend summer in Avanthal in hopes of gathering more news.

Along the trip as they passed through villages she heard the story of a young boy found on the frozen tundra alone protected by the body of a bird. In her bone Evana knew this to be her brother and now searched the streets for the young ophan. But as she wandered around the large city she was quickly losing hope as the cold weather seemed to be keeping most of the children inside.

By Habit She began play with the pendant her father had made for her which she now worn of a leather thong around her neck. Her fingers ran over the family shape of a phoenix as she looked around herself and found that her aimless wandering had brought her to the markets. Tucking her long Red curls behind her ears Her golden bird like eyes began to inspect the wares for sale only to find her eyes drawn to the crowd.

Among the shoppers a child size figure walking among the crowd nervously for ever looking over his shoulder. Even with her time among the traders she was still curiously forward and quick to put her nose into other people's business she began to make her way over to the boy stepping in front of him.

“”Are you alright.” she asked in common standing in the boy's path to ensure she got a response

Ascen looks up from the cover of his hood at the lady who stepped in his pathway. Appearing to look confused as his soft liquid gold eyes were shifting from one eye to the other. "What do you mean miss?" The child asked as he kept a firm grip onto his cloak to prevent the chilling wind from stealing the warmth of his small body. In truth the kid didn't really know what was going to happen considering that today was honestly like any other day.

"Did you hear about how there's been strange claw marks on the buildings here lately?" A couple of Vantha merchants were gossiping near the two that Ascen could pick up on. Which he is obviously, from Frangipani's view, paying attention both with his ears and with his eyes as those golden orbs shift towards their direction. "Claw marks? Like a bird sized claw mark?" The other Vantha asked in response before they got into a quieter voice. Thus the wind drowned out their voices to where Ascen could no longer hear what they were saying.

Then Ascen turned his attention back over to the one who was standing before him. "Do you work here or are you a merchant that tends to come in here from time to time?" Ascen asked a simple question, for he didn't really want to be dragged around into buying stuff since he was trying to watch how much he was spending. Kind of rare that a child is worrying and planning financially. But when it comes to living on his own Ascen seems to pick up on these things quicker in order to survive.

Evana couldn‘t help but smiled happily down down at the boy noticing the red hair framing his face as he looked up her, the smile growing as she noticed the say golden eyes that mark this boy as an Inartra. Knowing that Avanthal was the home of the Vantha race she doubted there was many Intarta in the population and that she had her first solid lead on finding her brother standing in front of her.

The boys eyes darted this way and that tracking the movements of those around him discreetly. Despite His young age the boy showed the instinct of a of a hunter standing on the tundra waiting for his next kill to come wandering by. Briefly she looked around once more Unable to see any adults with the boy. She tilted her head as her addressed her showing wisdom beyond his year as he kept his word short and to the point.

She replied “”aye i am a Jeweler.” she said lowering her hood and asking of her Brightly beaded headband to show the child “”but today i am trading information if you are willing to speak of the Inartra of the city i will give you this head band and if you can tell me of a boy named Ascen I will give you some coin to if your information pans out.” she winked at the boy “”what do you say young sir?”

Ascen was uncertain of why she was so happy; like he was trying to figure out why she was smiling and such. While it is true that not many people who live in Avanthal aren't Vantha as in maybe a few hundreds out of the thousand or so that overall lives here. Part of the boy's hood was briefly lifted away from Ascen's head that exposed his face even more so. With his fiery red hair that frames his face while the golden orbs that was said to be a rare trait especially it being like liquid gold amongst the Inarta. One thing that the boy seemed to have kept the Inarta tradition by having an individual braid on the left side of his head that was also wrapped around with a jade green, fine silk. But the wrapped silk lacked any design to it as the boy reached up to grab his hood and pulls it back to cover his head mostly.

Ascen's liquid gold eyes watched her as she took the head band off her forehead. He did seem interested in it, though there was no sign of greed behind the boy's eyes. Just thoughts of what he could do with it and possibly planned on what would happen in emergencies. Say if he was to get cut pretty bad, if Ascen had the head band he could easily take the head band and use that to help keep pressure on the wound and to stop the blood from flowing out. In essence he was thinking of how to use it when he needs to survive out in the wilds, and planning ahead never really hurts either.

She was a jeweler she said, and now she was willing to trade the headband for information about Ascen. When he learned what she was looking for, the boy slightly squinted his eyes as if he's trying to see past her eyes. What if it was Cosillia sending out individuals for information about the boy? But that wouldn't make any sense considering that Cosillia had already gathered enough information to seek him out of all people in the market. "What do you want to know about him?" Ascen asked as he played it calm and collected. The least he can do is to hear her out first before making any other advances.

Evana watched as the boy looked over headband with an admiring gaze. It was one of her bettter pieces of work she usally wore as an example of the quality of her items but it would be easy enough to make another. Yet when the boys gaze went back to her face he seemed to be suspicious of her and her motive for the desired information.

Evana took a deep breath her brow knotted in though. She was used to speaking plainly without beating around the bushes with small talk but as she looked at the boy she knew that some subterfuge would be necessary so she changed her tongue to Nair the language that the Inarta shared with the birds.

“”No need to be suspicious of me young Sir. We are both cut from the same cloth. Now you speak as though you know Asen, so let me tell you i have no desire to hurt him will you trust me on that? She asked before sliping back into the common tongue

""my name is Evana, young Sir and who might you be."
