Deliath Telori

6th Fall, 516AV
Deliath had finished getting ready, and now placed one foot in front of the other as she left her house in the Sunset Quarter to walk to her place of work - The Pig Foot Tavern. Since starting her work there, she found the name more amusing, as she had dealt with a lot of men in there that she viewed as nothing more than pigs, driven by their own greed and lust, most of whom had not been pleasant customers.
As she walked, she imagined that the streets of Sunberth would be a funhouse for Yshul, with the lack of laws and all the thieves and deviants that ran wild in the place.
Silently, she shuddered remembering that she was an obvious target for such thieves. She was weak compared to most, and she lacked any sort of fighting skill.
"Gold on legs..." she spoke softly to herself, although she knew that any thief would be very much disappointed in the lack of value they would find on her, before the Pigs Foot Tavern came into view.
She quickened her pace, feeling even more uneasy, as though something was watching her, until she had reached the entrance of the Tavern and she could exhaled a sigh of relief.

She entered the tavern, nodding a greeting to a barmaid that was obviously getting ready to leave, as Deliath moved to stand behind the bar with a warm smile on her face.

Already, a collection of used, dirty mugs, tankards and glasses had gathered on the bar, and it became obvious that the other girl hadn't done much towards the cleanliness of the place.
Sighing, Deliath ran a bowl of water and began cleaning each of the vessels, making sure not to break any of them.
It was a tedious process, but more for the fact that they had all been left and nobody had tried to keep on top of the mess, which should have been a somewhat simple task.
But Deliath managed to build a rhythm. Grab the vessel, put it in the water, rub it clean, and then place it upside down to her left so the water could drain from it, ready for her to dry each vessel and do her best to polish them.
It wasn't long before all the mugs and tankards were done and only a few, more delicate, glasses and wine glasses remained.
She took even more care with those, making sure to handle them gently as she didn't want to risk them breaking and cutting her, or having to pay for the replacements. She had enough trouble paying for her own food at the moment, never mind things that weren't hers.
She smiled slightly as she glanced around the tavern. Everybody there seemed satisfied with what they had, leaving her with the time to get on with what should have been done before she got there.

Deliath went to grab another glass, not looking at where they had been, but found her hand hitting nothing but the hard wood of the bar.
She looked, unsure of what had happened, only to found that she had cleaned the last glance and that all of them were happily draining to her left.
"All cleaned already? Onto drying I guess?" she thought to herself softly as she grabbed a clean and dry cloth from behind her, and one of the wine glasses.
Carefully, she began rubbing the wine glass with the cloth, removing the remaining droplets of water until the glass shone cleanly in the dim lighting. It was dry.
She glanced around until she spotted the shelf that the wine glasses were house and carefully placed it with them, before picking up the next wine glass and repeating the process until the wine glasses were all done. Sighing, she moved onto the tankards, finding that they belonged on a shelf underneath the wine glasses, then finally onto the mugs.
"Where do you live, little mug..." she thought to herself.
With the mugs, she wasn't sure at all where they belonged, and after a few moments of searching she found a fairly bare shelf tucked under the bar which held only three mugs. Grinning, she carefully dried each of the mugs and placed them with the three, before hearing somebody approach the bar.
Before she turned around, she made sure to pull down her dress slightly so her bust was more visible, in the hope that it would aid in some subtle seduction.

OOCMind timestamping this one for me? I'm free any day other than the 11th and 12th. :)

It had been a rough day, to say the least.

It was just the normal wear and tear of Sunberth, she told herself, but she couldn't believe it. Her arms were tired from lifting her water-logged net from the water over and over. Her skin was delicate and sensitive from being soaked all day. Her shoulders felt burnt from Syna's gaze, and her head ached from the noise of the docks. And to top it all off, she hadn't made a silver.

Aladari plopped herself down inside the tavern with the relief of a working man coming home to his wife. The Pig's Foot wasn't her favorite, but today she didn't feel like small talk, and she was too well known at the Drunken Fish. No, Pig's Foot would get her drunk just as fine, without the unnecessary chatter.

She dug around in her coin purse idly before pulling out a handful of coin. It was then that she looked up to find a soft and familiar face, smiling and drying cups. Aladari consciously chose not to acknowledge their familiarity. It would require being friendly- something she didn't think she could do still sober.

"Hit me, 'tender." She said, dropping four coppers for the ale. She turned tired turquoise eyes to the glasses behind the counter. "It's been a day, and I'm ready to forget."

Deliath Telori

~
Deliath looked up to see a familiar face. It was Aladari, the girl with the colour changing eyes. A Vantha.
She looked tired and fed up, as though she was here to just drink, not to play around at being nice to people and Deliath eyed her as she sat down.
Unfortuantely it looked as though Aladari wasn't someone that Deliath could even attempt to seduce.

"Hit me, 'tender. It's been a day, and I'm ready to forget." she heard Aladari say and she saw her drop four copper Mizas and instantly nodding and smiled.

"Of course." she kept it short, not wanting to intrude on the other girls time and thoughts, before she grabbed one of the mugs from under the bar.

"Ale is here..." she thought to herself as she silently spoke her way through the process, hoping the she didn't end up causing a mess or making a scene at all.

Once the mug was filled with the ale she placed it in front of Aladari, flashing her usual warm smile before taking the money.

After getting the girl her drink, she wasn't too sure what to do and briefly resting her arm on the bar as she glanced around, making sure that all the other patrons were happy and kept joyfully intoxicated, before she moved to stand up, her arm sticking to the bar slightly. She hasn't quite expected it, but it seemed that the glasses had all left a sticky residue on the wood that should have been wiped off before it dried fully, long before Deliath had arrived.

"Oh Shyke..." she thought to herself before she grabbed the cloth and squeezed it out, before beginning to work on the sticky patches. It took more work than she would have allowed it too, had she been here before the glasses had been left standing, but it didn't take too long, although she wasn't sure whether her rubbing at the mess on the wood had disturbed the young woman sat nearby.

"I'm not disturbing you, am I?" she asked calmly, turning to look at Aladari slightly, wondering whether the girl was ready for another drink, or whether she'd talk at all.

Oumren was out, hair down shoulders back, face grimacing at anyone that stood in her way. She'd grown tired of sitting at the orphanage with the children that annoyed her with their screaming and running about so she decided it was a good time to explore the city. She'd gotten lost for a moment and had to ask for direction from a homeless man who refused to give any information without payment, but soon changed his mind after a swift stomping and pointed the lass to the main roads which she traveled now.

Sunberth was different from Zeltiva, it was dirtier, had many rancid smells and it seemed that everyone wanted to rob you, beg, or sleep with you. She'd almost punched a woman asking if she wanted to try a new side of life before Ren ran the woman off. She continued down the road unsure of where she was going and too stubborn to ask for direction again. She was getting hungry. Going into her pouch she counted out the miza that her and Sas split down the middle. It wasn't much. Hopefully they came across something that would get them coin. Their father, or well Sas's father and her uncle got them a job offer from the owner of the orphanage as guards so that was something.

Turning her nose to the smell of cooked food that made her stomach rumble, she headed in the direction that her nose told her. She only prayed that she didn't walk up on someone cooking a body or something weird though she was hunger enough to try it if that was the case. Turning a corner she came upon a building, it looked...stable, having being built of old wood with newer planks in certain places. Looking at the sign on the door she read the words that stated that the building was known as "The Pig Foot Tavern"

She happened to walk in behind a slightly shorter woman that looked to be in a bad mood. She was greeted by the waitress who seemed to be in a completely opposite mood as the woman she greeted. Following the woman's motions, Ren sat a stool down from the dark haired woman who tossed her miza on the counter demanding a pint of ale to which the waitress brought it out whilst asking if she were bothering the woman. Ignoring their conversation for a moment, Ren dug into her own pouch pulling out the miza needed for the drink.

"Aye lady, let me get what she's having." She spoke to the woman placing her miza upon the counter. "This city is pissing you off too huh?" She spoke to the woman who still seemed to be in a sour mood.

She was content with her ale. The glass was clean (a novelty in some of the local bars), and the ale was crisp. It warmed her throat as she swallowed, easing her muscles and coaxing her nerves.

By the time Deliath had finished her busy work and spoke up to Aladari, she was affected enough to smile. "Na, yer just fine." She waved off the idea with her hand. Unfortunately, her smile faded as her memories of the day resurfaced. Not enough ale.

"Matter a fact, I might feel good to talk to somebodys else. Ya see,"

Before she could launch into her pity party, a stranger took a seat next to her. The stranger was beautiful- long and flowing in her form- but her face was twisted into a scowl. "This city is pissing you off too huh?"

It must have been obvious from her face that she was displeased, and that simple fact made her even more upset. She hated being so transparent. Her eyes darkened, betraying her emotions rather ironically.

"Yeah." She admitted. "But is gettin' better by tha minute, nah?" She held up her glass, as if in a toast, and gave a sharp bark of laughter. "What's wrong wit'you?"

Deliath Telori

~
Deliath heard Aladari mention how it might be nice to talk to someone, before Del noticed another girl approaching the bar, this one with red hair that she could notice from quite a distance.

The other girl sat herself down at the bar and asked for the same as Aladari and Del smiled, grabbing another mug from under the bar and holding it under the tap. She turned it on and watched as the liquid ran into the glass, frothing up slightly more than she wanted until she tilted the mug slightly.

She placed the glass in front of the redhead and listen to what her and Aladari were saying and she noticed Aladari's eyes had darkened. It was fairly easy to tell that she wasn't happy.

She noticed a man approaching the bar, leaving about three glasses on it and she couldn't help but smile and kindly thank the man for bringing the glasses instead of leaving them elsewhere.
She grabbed the glasses carefully and began to clean them, slowly and carefully. She'd submerge them, rub them with a cloth and then allow them to drain upside down before grabbing a dry cloth to wipe them dry, before placing them back.
These glasses weren't as clean and dry as the others had ended up, but they were still fairly cleaner than most places would have them.

Smiling Deliath figured that though the girls were both females, she could at least try to seduce them into buying more.
Carefully she leant forwards on the bar, exposing most of her cleavage, hoping that one of them was someone that would allow themselves to be seduced.

"Can I get either of you anything else? Something to eat perhaps? Or maybe a stronger drink?" she asked, her voice lower and somewhat more seductive as she tried to imitate the prostitutes she had met before, then she tilted her head as she looked at the two girls before turning to look at the liquors and spirits on one of the higher shelves.
The bottles were slightly dusty, as though nobody had touched them in a while, but they all still looked fine to drink.
"I'll have to clean those later..." she thought to herself, hating how dirty the place looked.
Of course, she'd never be able to completely clean the place, but she could try and make the place slightly more presentable.

Deliath Telori

~
Deliath watched the two girls as she made sure that the bar was tidy, before she smiled at the two. They both seemed satisfied with what they had, and that meant that Deliath could get on with other things.

Sighing, she turned to look at the bottles of spirits and the layers of grime and dust that decorated the bottles. They were high up, but she could just reach them and carefully she brought one of them down.

The liquid inside it was a light golden brown, and on the bottle was a slightly faded label that read 'whiskey'.

Grinning she grabbed a nearby cloth that was dry, although not completely clean, and carefully wiped away the dust and some of the marks, leaving the bottles slightly more presentable.
It still wasn't perfectly polished and shining, but that would require a thorough cleaning using water, and Deliath didn't want to risk damaging the whiskey inside it.

She placed the bottle back on the shelf before starting on with the next, continuing the process until each of the bottles were slightly cleaner and more attractive in her eyes.

"'Scuse me!" she heard a loud voice and instantly turned around to see a man stood at the bar.

"Sorry, I didn't keep you waiting for too long? Did I?" she asked, looking at the man as he shook his head.

"Could yer get me some stew? An' some bread." the man said as he put a handful of Mizas on the bar before leaving.

Deliath glanced around the tavern to see a few other members of staff, meaning that she would be okay to go through to the kitchen for a bit.

Carefully, she put the mans money away before walking through to the kitchen to see the cook. This was a man she'd never really seen before.

"We have an order for stew and bread. Is there anything I can do to help out back here?" she asked before being handed a knife and pointed to a pile of vegetables. Carrots, parsnips, potato, and one onion.

"They're already washed, cut 'em up, then yer can cu' the bread." the man said and Deliath nodded.

First, she picked up a carrot and tried to remember how she'd seen them served before.
"Chunky circles?" she thought to herself before beginning to cut them into cylinders, each one about an inch deep. It was a fairly easy task, but Deliath was still careful. She didn't want to risk cutting herself on the knife, which felt sharper than she was comfortable with.

It wasn't long before she had finished cutting the carrots, and now she decided to move onto the parsnips.
She figured that since they were so similar in shape and size to the carrots, that they should be cut in a similar way and so she got started.
The parsnips felt different to the carrots. They were harder and slightly more woody, and Deliath was instantly worried that they would take longer to cook, but she pressed on, cutting them how she'd decided until she'd ran out of parsnips.
Next she picked up the potatoes, deciding to chop them into inch cubes. They were a lot easier to cut than the potatoes or carrots, feeling as though they had much more water in them. The cubes were fairly slimy though, and the knife felt as though it was going to slip a few times.
One time the knife did slip, almost hitting her fingers. It probably would have cut her fingers had Deliath not jumped from the shock, quickly pulling her hand away from the knife.

Finally she found herself moving onto the onion. She could remember seeing someone cutting them into small pieces and so she figured that was what she should do, but it her memory the onion was a white colour with a slight green tinge to it, while what she had was a brown papery texture.
Sighing, she went ahead and cut the onion in half to discover the the inside of the onion was the greenish-white she remembered.
"The brown must be a skin of some sort..." she thought to herself, before peeling off a few thin layers of the brown papery skin until the white flesh was completely exposed.
Then she began by cutting the onion into thin rings, before beginning to cut the rings into finer pieces.
It was then that she felt her starting to sting, before tears began to well up, then started streaming down her face.
"I can see why only one of these is needed! I wonder if it's useful for any medicines..." she thought to herself before wiping her face on her arm and continuing with chopping the onion.

"Yer done there?" came the voice of the cook and Deliath turned to him and nodded in response, still trying to stop her eyes from tearing up. "Good, now cut off a chunk of that bread, yer stew is ready now!" the man pointing at the bread and Deliath moved over to it to find a different knife next to it. This one had a serrated edge that seemed as though it should be used in a sawing motion.
And that's what Deliath did. She picked up the knife and started sawing off a chunk of the bread. It wasn't a neat job, and it probably showed that she'd never really done this before, but she got the job done and then placed the bread onto a small plate and picked it up, before the cook handed her a bowl of stew and she went back to the front of the tavern, quickly spotting the man that had ordered the food and moving to set it down in front of him, making sure to expose her cleavage as she bent down. She caught his eye glancing at her bust, then his Adam's apple twitched indicating that he had swallowed. He seemed nervous, and she couldn't help but smile.

"Stew and a piece of bread!" she exclaimed before she stood up straight and smiled at the man. "If you need anything else, just let me know. I'll be at the bar waiting for you." she attempted to make her smile more seductive before making her way back to the bar.

Drunken Secrets

Postby Deliath on December 1st, 2016, 12:23 pm

Deliath Telori

~
The tavern begin to get busier, with more and more dissatisfied men coming into the building, wanting to drown their sorrows or perhaps even improve their mood with a quick drink.
It wasn't long before Deliath was carrying mugs of ale to the tables furthest from the bar, whilst maintaining a cheerful smile to help ease her customers.
She knew that she wasn't the best at her job, and she knew she wasn't the most popular barmaid there, but she enjoyed it, despite the occasional groping from a man that was too drunk to realise that she wasn't actually interested in him! Still, she'd smile and blow a kiss at him in the hope that he'd give her a bit of an extra tip.

"Two mugs of ale please?" she heard from a table behind her, and she turned to nod happily as the money was thrown towards her.
She failed to catch it and almost immediately bent down to pick the Mizas up from the floor, before straightening and skipping to the bar to get the two mugs of ale.
Within minutes she was returning to the table, skipping around people who almost crashed into her when they didn't watch where they were heading.
Smiling, she placed the drinks on the table and before she had a chance to say anything one of the men put his hand on hers, patting it slightly as he stared up at her.
"Keep the change." he said and Deliath nodded.
"Thank you!" she smiled, before pulling her hand away and making her way back to the bar.

She kept an eye on Aladari as the day passed on, wondering whether the girl wanted to talk.
Many times she debated starting up a conversation with the girl, although more and more people kept buying drinks, thereby keeping Deliath from even starting the conversation.
