Jadin

Appearance
One would most accurately compare Jadin's appearance to that of a lion. Her face is framed with an unruly mane of brown curls, and her large eyes take on a hazel hue. Her figure is slim, but not scrawny. She isn't curvy in the slightest, with small breasts and skinny hips. She has hints of muscle on her arms, and is generally healthy-looking. At 5'6", Jadin isn't lacking in height, but still needs to stand on her tip-toes to search a crowd.

Jadin has a certain confidence to her gait and her voice, able to come across like she knows what she's doing and talking about, though it's often bluffing.

Concept
Myers-Briggs Personality Type: ENTP (The Debater)

Brought up with an optimistic perspective on life, Jadin is able to find the silver lining in nearly everything. However, this doesn't mean she's always happy. She gets bored in average situations, but would still rather be on the safer side of a conflict. This need to keep her own hide intact means that, as a journalist, she can adopt views that'll keep her safe. Being a skilled writer, she can argue this side well, even if she wouldn't like to.

Jadin is very open-minded in the sense that everyone is entitle to their own opinion. She feels that if someone argues their side, and argues it well, there's no reason not to take their views into consideration. As a result, she subconsciously ridicules those who follow blindly. She enjoys a good debate, but won't bother discussing something with someone if their argument is just something along the lines of "Well, that's just the way it is!"

Though able to take on any side, Jadin doesn't necessarily have coherent views of her own. She has moral ideas, like "stealing is bad" or "murdering people isn't nice," but instead of feeling particularly strong-willed about serious political topics, she'll simply side with the perspective she feels has a stronger argument.

Jadin is generally logical, and will support the statement that appeals to her left brain. Emotional drives, to her, are a bluff that people often fall for, and are nothing but a tool in her own writing.

This perspective doesn't mean she's cold. If someone's in need of support or in a bad mood, Jadin can understand. She'll be there for support, though she may not be great at it, as she'll slip into her logical habits again.

The Past
NoteI'll come up with names eventually. Bear with me.

Jadin's story begins at the hands of an Alvadan playwright, and his Syliran wife. Jadin's father grew up amongst the performers at the Crooked Playhouse, his own parents often leading the show. However, he lacked that confidence, and chose instead to stand in the background, writing and directing the plays like a puppet master. At some point, Jadin's father took his career to Syliras' Stormhold Citadel. At first, his flame of creativity waned, the stagnant stone walls feeling dull for the writer. Alvadas had had so much light, so much personality. Syliras was so... grey in comparison. Then he met his soon-to be wife, a laughing woman whose personality could only be described as bright. She bore a radiant smile and adored nights with tea by the warm hearth, surrounded by stacks of books. She was a writer herself, a writer of stories that took the greyness of Syliras and spun countless other hues. And he, himself, grew to love Syliras, simply because the woman he loved did.

These were the people Jadin grew up around. A cheerful woman who always had a book in hand, and a man with large, ink-stained hands peering over quickly-written dialogues. Jadin had a vivid image of his handwriting: quick, looping strokes with thick, smudged lines. The hearth was always burning bright, and Jadin was comfortable sharing almost anything with her parents.

To Jadin, Syliras was the beautiful city with the personality that her mother made it out to be. But at the same time, the woman looked for something more. She'd spent the first few years of her adult life writing recounts of dramatic moments in her own home city, but something about it grew mundane. It was an environment she'd grown used to, and her reports and stories reflected the normality of it.

At 17, in the year 510, with just enough money to get started in the world, Jadin accompanied a trade caravan to Zeltiva, writing a less-than-successful piece on the everyday life of those who spend their time traveling. In Zeltiva, Jadin studied journalism and rhetoric, learning to be subtly convincing in her work and twist points of view without the audience's awareness. In her second year there, she began to take auristics classes. She intended to be able to understand how those being interviewed felt, and gain a hint at why they behaved the way they did.

The Great Djed Storm of 512 brought on a flurry of stories, and Jadin tried desperately to write about them all. Much of her journalistic ability grew in this time, and she managed to muster a small reputation in the city.
However, in 514, the budding reporter chose to return to Syliras for what was intended to be a short time, and wound up staying there for a couple of years. She applied her new skills to this city, writing with an understanding only one who had grown up there could have.
Yet again, in the late spring of 517, she grew restless, and made her way to Black Rock, arriving at the beginning of fall 517 in search of interesting career opportunities.

Jadin has a simple blue dress from her mother. It has longer sleeves that end just above the elbow. Thanks to her mother's lack of height, the dress boasts a skirt that is a bit further above the knee than Jadin is comfortable with. However, the woman wouldn't openly admit to this, instead wearing it and repeatedly pulling it down.
