Hey Folks! If you are playing in Syka this season please register in the character registry and post your employment things in the Paradise Rediscovered!

Also, Pulren had a really good point. There's no Bulletin Board for Information Exchange and no way to get Mail on Syka. Everyone kinda just roams to the Mercantile when The Veronica comes in... to pick up their purchases or see what James has brought with him this time (which hes grateful for since he puts everyone to work unloading the ship of goodies).... but I think we'll put in an official Bulletin Board and Mail Center in The Tidepool. Stu wouldn't mind babysitting it since Juli does like some free time away from the Mercantile to play in the sea. She's a waterbaby just like several of you.

If anyone else has any great ideas, let me know! I'd love to include them if they make sense for Syka.

Hello folks.

I had two ideas for Syka in the last two days. The first one is going to be a MANDATORY participation thing. I want to make two lists.... one of all the active PCs in the domain. The second list will be a lengthy list of random events from getting bit by a spider to finding treasure on treasure beach. I will once a week on a specific day roll for one PC and one Event and let the PC know that they need to incorporate that event into their threads somewhere... whatever it is.

What do you guys think? Let me know!

The second idea is to make a start of a more normal settlement by putting in place a sort of Artisan's Row with the forge for the blacksmith and shops that tailor to artists like the potter, leatherworker, weaver, etc... so they have a little row of shops that visiting sailors can visit. These would be workshops. Do you guys like/hate this idea? Let me know!

I adore these ideas
Especially the random rolling for an event that a player has to write about. I imagine it would give lots of inspiration and even more opportunity for character growth using events that people wouldn’t usually choose to do

As for the Artisans Row idea. I think that would also be a really good idea. I can see that developing quite naturally as a way to avoid having poor visitors roaming over the entire beach to try and find what they need

The first idea sounds wonderful. It sounds like the wheel of misadventures! I like it!

I like the second idea too. It will definitely bring more money to the city.

I have been thinking all week that Syka should make a effort to recycle metals. Maybe start a metal salvage effort. Since I am a metalsmith too if I get a blast furnance
than I can melt down the steel and make nails and whatever.

Also my parents live in Florida, and I noticed that alot of the trails through the tropical jungle is covered with sand and crushed seashells. It could be a main road through the settlement. It would help with security, so you do have to run on the sandy beach to help someone and moving goods from parcel to parcel. We can call it Sea Shell Road or Trail. Plus taking down the trees for the road will give us wood to build.

Hehe I feel like I am playing SIM city right now.

Can you run barefoot over crushed seashell? Cause that would suck if you couldn't.
