Issie slowly awakes to the dawn rising over the horizon as Mulfir, his horse, neighs as the warmth flows across the skin once more. Issie gets out of his portable shelter and sleeping area as he begins to stretches and stares towards the sun to let the heat hit his body, his mind is at ease as he finds his body feeling comfortable, he hasn't had a night like that in a long time, but today is going to change that. Issie finishes his stretches and breaks down the shelter, clean off his blanket, and makes sure the area he was sleeping in looks like it was natural once more, as he places the blanket and portable shelter with Mulfir, and prepares for his little travels into the wilderness for a few days.

Issie did tell a couple people he would be gone for a few days to see the forest and what is held in there. Issie had also offered to teach people the basics in survival, and it would be free of charge, Issie knew he was less than adequate to competently teach, but he needed to try, how is he to get better if never tries. Issie starts to place all of his gear he had onto Mulfir, and started gearing himself up, as he prepared to leave at noon.

Issie began preparing a meal for before he leaves, and fetches water to quench his thirst, for he does not know what lies beyond. Then he waits as the sun rises.

Issie began to eat as he waits for the sun to almost reach the peak of its cycle. Once he finishes he begins to walk to the center of "town", geared in his gear he wore in the some snowy areas. He had Mulfir with him as he waited.

Issie would wait until the sun reached the top of the sky for people to show up. He did want to wait to see if anyone would take him up on his offer, but if no one would, he would leave to explore the jungle on his own.

The all Mother: Wilderness survival training

Postby Nya Winters on December 17th, 2017, 4:03 am

Nya bounded up the steps of The Syka Commons, looking around to see if anyone was out and about. It was officially Winter in Syka, but it didn’t feel like Winter at all. The Kelvic was barefoot, wearing a loincloth and had a bandana wrapped around her torso and tied up around her neck. She was hot, overly so, from running down the beach from her claim. Pulren had been up on the point again, muttering something about a tower and making some sort of plans that left Nya’s head spinning. He was worried about the security of the settlement, and she didn’t blame him, but sometimes all that information rattling around his head gave her the need to run.

And Nya had ran. She loved running the beach. She’d do it in cat form or human form, either didn’t matter. When she’d first came to Syka she’d been pale, underfed, and so weak that a jog down the beach would have exhausted her. But now things were different. She was slowly building up muscle, regaining her strength, and letting the vitality of the tropics fill her. Nya secretly thought her Talderian Form thrived in the jungle and being so ‘at home’ had done wonders for her fitness. The fresh fruit and vegetables they ate so much of caused her hair and nails to grow. Her skin practically glowed. The oil in the fish they consumed almost daily was really good for her joints that had stopped hurting since her confinement and slavery in Ravok. She was less self conscious and wore her scars proudly.

Coming back to the present, Nya skidded to a halt and announced to no one in particular…. “There’s a horse in Syka! Can you believe it! A real horse!” She said, as if this was big news. And in a way it was. The settlement had no horses, though they could have used a good set of draft animals to plow up bits of land for gardens near individual claims of land.

Looking around, she spotted the stranger, and halted. Nya froze, grew cautious, and offered him a hesitant smile. “Hello…. Is that your horse?” She asked, looking curiously at someone who would bring a horse to a jungle. The newcomer might not be the horse’s owner, but he was a likely candidate since she knew everyone else and knew they didn’t own a horse.

Nya walked forward… curious. “I’m Nya Winters. Who might you be?” She said, last minute remembering her manners and introducing herself properly. She was fairly sure the man wasn’t a danger since The Founders were protective of who they let into the settlement. But that didn’t make him a friend yet either.

Issie hadn't been waiting for long until he heard someone begin yelling about a horse. He didn't really react, it made sense, no other horses were seen, so it is like seeing a magical thing, yet it was strange. Why yell about it?

As Issie begins to survey the situation he sees the culprit of the yelling as she spoke he mentally note she did seem kind of hesitant towards him, yet she did seem to be calm and even trying to be friendly. Issie gave a slight wave towards, "Nya Winters, hu? My name is Issie. You seem very fascinated by Mulfir, wanna pet her?". Issie knew she wouldn't be a problem so it wouldn't be a problem for her to pet Mulfir, and also it'd be a good way to set up a relationship with others here, as it'd be a smart option to have people to call friends.

The stranger introduced himself, which was a good thing, since Nya was curious who the new person was. The Kelvic stood tall and nodded to him, offering him a smile. She tilted his head as the man asked her if she wanted to pet his horse. What? Did he think she was a child or something? Nya frowned and lifted an eyebrow. She gave him a crooked smile and then chuckled slightly.

"No. I don't want to pet your horse. I'd much rather eat it. Horse meat is so delicious." She said, sensibly. "And anyhow, something else is going to eat your horse sooner or later... maybe a tiger or a panther or even one of the bigger snakes if you are not watchful of her every hour of every day. You might as well let me since I'll kill her cleanly and share the meat with everyone." The Kelvic said kindly, knowing her offer was more than reasonable.

She looked over the man, sizing him up, and wondering what he was doing in Syka anyhow. The Founders were very strict on who they let in, so he must have some special skill or worthy qualification. Nya just had no idea what it was. And she knew enough to understand that asking him outright would be beyond rude.

Besides, she was a bit hungry. Maybe he'd take her up on the offer of killing his horse cleanly.

Issie looked towards he and began seeing what he could read from her demeanor, yet this was instantly broken as he heard about wanting to eat Mulfir. His face went from a stoic mask, to a disgusted and even angered look as he said, "You will not eat her. You will not kill her. And let any god be my witness, if you even dare try, I will end you". Issie felt a well of emotions become filled and ready to explode as he heard someone say such a thing as to kill his friend. He broke eye contact as he looked towards Mulfir and said, "I suggest the next words are chosen carefully, thin ice is being treaded on".

Issie calmed himself down as he readjusted his vision back to Nya, a stone cold stoic mask fell over him again as he then waited for her response. He was prepared if there is a confrontation, yet is almost certain one will not occur as they are in the commons and people would be able to see them. His eyes never left her's as he waited for a response, he instantly lost any hope of them being "friends", he only sees her now as a threat to Mulfir.

The Kelvic was slightly baffled over Issie's reaction. His anger seemed unjustified since she'd offered the mare a clean humane death. Her offer was reasonable. It was more than a jungle animal would give the mare. Nya took a step back and raised her hands as if to fend him off. She didn't want any trouble with the newcomer. It wasn't that she was afraid of him because she wasn't. The Kelvic had eaten many humans before in darker times when that was all the meat she could get a hold of to survive. But that was not the situation here and she did not want to have to go before Mathias or Randal or even James and explain why there was blood on her paws.

"Threatening someone isn't nice. You could have simply thanked me and said no thanks." The Kelvic said, reaching up to release the bandana at the back of her neck and free the wrap from her torso. She tossed it on one of the tables beside her in The Commons and then reached for her loincloth and freed it from her body as well. Her pack joined the clothing and she suddenly dissolved in a shower of colored lights.

The lights swirled up and around and reformed into an enormous shape. A cat stood where the woman was, huge in size, with brindled fur the color of the jungle. Opening her mouth, the cat yawned widely then reached her front paws forward, stretching, before she shifted backwards and stretched again. Nya, in her kelvic form, was easily larger than Mulfir, being a Talderian Forest Cat. Her moss green eyes met Issie's gaze, unblinking, and locked onto him with a magic that was powerful in her natural form.

Djed flooded her gaze as the cat held his eyes with her own. The power felt good to the Kelvic. It was one she didn't use often, but it was one that could come in handy. Hypnotism was a powerful magic, one that came naturally to Forest Cats of all sizes. Nya's message for the man was clear. Peace. She wanted him to calm down and that's what she sent through her gaze at him, subtle, invasive, and demanding.

When at last she blinked, the Kelvic rose up to her full height and made towards the stairway down. Mathias always looked at her like he was going to scold her if he caught her up on the Syka Commons in her Kelvic form. It was a strong structure and could easily hold several of her kind and dozens of people, but the Kelvic didn't want to take a chance.

If Issie let her pass, the Kelvic would leave, leaving the horse in peace.

The all Mother: Wilderness survival training

Postby Issie Asure on December 18th, 2017, 5:35 am

Issie watched he as he heard her, he knew she didn't know the weight of what she said, he did feel at fault for making the situation tense as he listened. He did feel obligated, as well, as it is the same as someone walking up to you and saying, 'Hey can I eat your friend right there? I'll make it painless for them, less painful than what could happen to them out on the streets.,

His anger softened into worry as he watched the woman transform into a giant forest cat. As he looked into her eyes he did feel a sensation of there is presence similar to what he used to feel when he was younger. Issie's father said that feeling was your mother watching over him, that is her magic keeping him safe. Issie didn't fully believe his father, yet, he did understand what he felt then wasn't similar, there is a difference, the other felt more coaxing and kind, this one was incredibly intrusive and unsettling as he thought the woman/big cat just asked for him to calm down. Issie was prepared to pull out his sword yet, he hadn't seen such a thing, he feared this could be the moment he had to be tested of his mettle, like his father was when he died. Then there was no need to fight as the woman/big cat began to walk away. He let her pass and felt his emotions subside, they were a jumble of positive and negative emotions, calm and aggressive feelings, and a feeling that could be of wonder. What could she be? No animal Issie has ever seen could do what she did, Issie has seen much, yet, this proves he has much more to learn.

Issie's wonder got the best of him as began to look back on his past to see if there was any connection he could make, could she shape shift into anything, was she at first a woman or an animal, and how does that work? Issie had many questions of his mother, he had many questions of Nya, and he had many questions on what else exists in this world. For now Issie sat down and began to groom Mulfir, as he begins to think of what could set him on the path to solve these questions.
