Set just a short walk from the inside the Sanikas Gates of Wind Reach on the ground level of the 'City' the Valintar's office is an impressive display of the glassworks of the Inarta. The office itself is in essence a huge stained glass atrium visible from both the air and the ground floor of the twin lakes as a platform that extends out partially on stone pillars over the lower lake itself. It has a small dock and pier attached to it, as well as an 'inner sanctum' portion that runs deep into the walls of the volcano where a small reception room is sheltered inside the volcano proper. A magic called 'sheilding' protects the exposed glass atrium from rock falls and landslides that often frequent Mt. Skyinarta.

The reception lacks a secretary as Kaden handles most of his affairs himself and always maintains his office hours. If the door is unlocked, he's there. And if he's not there and the door is barred, there's always a sign with the return time clearly posted in neat magnetic-backed glass lettering. There's a large bird stand near the door to his office proper, and one can often see one of the large thunder bay eagles (though far smaller than a Wind Eagle) perched. Kaden keeps several birds as pets and often carries them with him save for the thunder bay eagle whos name is Starvine. Starvine roams the twin lakes areas and maintains a permanent residence in the Valintar's office or Kaden's personal quarters.

The space itself looks out over a pier which has a sailboat tied up to it. The sailboat was one Kaden hand crafted himself. Meals can be taken on the dock part of the atrium, while business is conducted inside the reception itself. Kaden's office is offlimits to most people who aren't craftsman or riders, and is probably one of the most magnificent structures in Wind Reach. A side door off the atrium reception leads to Kaden's personal quarters, a large stone suit with its own set of windows looking over the lake.

One doesn't need to knock to get Kaden's attention. All they need to do is open the door to the reception and walk in. They can marvel at the lit glass covering the walls and ceiling illuminated from behind until the structure stretches out over the water itself past giant double glass doors. There is a comfortable sitting area with sunken couches that people can relax in while they are waiting for an audience.

ImageName Kaden Avin
Race Inarta (former Endal)
DoB 468 AV (50 years old)
PoB Wind Reach
Title Valintar
Skills Falconry 61, Leadership 91, Musical Instrument: Drums 6, Organization 44, Persuasion 58

Kaden is the supreme authority in Wind Reach. He is tasked with the responsibility of assigning class to each and every individual in Wind Reach. New or people who have suddenly married, bonded with an Eagle, or gained an education must seek him for reclassification so their food rations can be managed. Kaden also holds rank over the Master's Circle which is the ruling body in Wind Reach. He is also an incredible drummer who often plays at most of the city's party events and festivals. Kaden is extremely approachable, easy to look at but not exactly handsome, and tends to make people feel at ease in his presence. However, he is forthright and will speak his mind as needed. He carries about himself an aura of leadership that tends to quell anyone's desires to question him.

[Wind Reach] The Valintar

Obtaining a Job

In Wind Reach no one has a set job such as 'Glassblower', 'Hunter' or 'Bard'. Instead the city is divided up into a Caste System, with each separate Caste making up a large portion of the population. Each Caste has its own schedule, job types, and payment. Unlike other cities where a job pays more the higher a character's experience in their job related skills, the Caste income stays the same regardless of a character's skill level. A citizen can change Castes under rare circumstances, though their skills must warrant the change and it must be approved by the local ST.

Below lists each Caste and their income, taxes, daily schedules and expectations. All applications will be reviewed by the DS.

Dek
Dek

Income: 100 pinions a season
Tax: 50 pinions a season
Profit Kept: 50 pinions a season
Expectations: Daily work at least ten hours a day. One day off in every ten.

The Dek are the dirty and servant manual labor of Wind Reach. They are paid extraordinarily little and are forced to do the jobs no other Caste wants to do. A Dek does not have a specific job title such as 'Animal Caretaker' instead they do many menial and small jobs on a daily basis such as cleaning, construction, waste removal, etc.

Yasi
Yasi

Income: 80 pinions a season
Tax: None
Profit Kept: 80 pinions a season
Expectations: In every 10 days; five days of half class half work and four days off.

The Yasi incorporate all the children of Wind Reach. Just like Dek, Yasi also have no formal job title. Instead they spend half their time learning and the other half preforming small duties such as clerical work, organization, minor repairs, etc. The goal of a Yasi is either to bond to a Wind Eagle or to gain an apprenticeship to an Avora where they will learn a trade to set their Caste later in life.

No matter the skills of a PC, an Inarta in Wind Reach under the age of 15 will be in the Yasi Caste, unless they have either bonded with a Wind Eagle or spent enough time in an apprenticeship that they have proved to be capable on their own in said profession. No one under 13 can be any other Caste.

Chiet
Chiet

Income: 300 pinions a season
Tax: 160 pinons a season
Profit Kept: 140 pinions a season
Expectations: Daily work at least eight hours a day and two days off in every ten.

The Chiet are the commoners of Wind Reach. They make up the majority of the population and their jobs range widely. Some Chiet may have a specific job title that does not change such as 'teacher' though many Chiet rotate to different jobs based on their skills and the city wide need. A Yasi who has not bonded to a Wind Eagle nor received an apprenticeship, but has also proven to be able to fend for themselves and has no major irregularities is placed into the Chiet Caste.

Avora
Avora

Income: 750 pinions a season
Tax: 450 pinons a season
Profit Kept: 300 pinions a season
Expectations: Daily work at least eight hours a day and three days off during every 10.

The Avora are the craftsman and leaders of Wind Reach. These members make up the skilled glassblowers that are renown around Mizahar and the farmers vital to the citizens survival while they are also the team leaders and project designers. In order to be placed into the Avora caste a player character must have at least competent in a craft or skill such as leadership with a position that utilizes that skill. If the player is a crafter then there must be a mention of his or her apprenticeship as a Yasi somewhere in their history for at least three years. If a job a citizen does benefits the city as a whole greatly, such as providing outside revenue or insuring safety of the citizens, its falls under the Avora caste.

Endal
Endal

Income: 1000 pinions a season
Tax: 500 pinons a season
Profit Kept: 500 pinions a season
Expectations: Daily work hunting and transporting. Schedules for Endal change depending on their Flights duties though they commonly have more free time than any other Caste.

The Endal are the lucky few of Wind Reach that have bonded to a Wind Eagle. All Endal must have a Wind Eagle and all are primarily hunters. Endal do rounds during the season, hunting, protecting and scouting, though bringing food to the city is the main focus of their work. It is highly recommended that a player character roleplay becoming an Endal IC. However you may start your character off as an Endal, though it requires special permission from the local ST. Please contact the ST before posting a request here.

[Wind Reach] The Valintar

Postby Dash on September 18th, 2019, 6:08 pm

Character CS: It says I'm not allowed to post urls. Dash
Requested Caste: Hunter Avora
Relevant Skills: With a 26 Hunting, 18 Shortbow and 16 for WS, he's a fairly competent hunter that could use some practice to improve.
Why do you think your character fits for this Caste?: His entire mentality is that of a hunter in most aspects of his life. Dash enjoys hunting and applies himself fully.
Additional Comments: I think being a Kelvic red wolf gives him an innate hunter mentality in that his senses are sharp and in such constant use that they're a large part of who he is as an Inarta.
