Jeshmin Pashacha

Appearance

Race: Chaktawe
Gender: Female
Age: 25
Birthday: 9th, Autumn, 495 AV.
Birthplace: Around Eyktol area

Appearance: Jeshmin's mother was a renowned beauty, even in her older years, with incredibly high cheek bones and an arched, refined expression. Jeshmin is not. She has a naturally intense look, with blunt eyebrows and a mostly unsmiling mouth. She has the native features of all Chaktawe - the bronze skin, dark hair, and even darker eyes - but dresses in the fashions of the peoples she around, striking an odd image to those who don't know her, and an even odder one to those who don't know of the Chaktawe. Generally speaking she dresses practically, as is her nature, in whatever is more applicable for her day's tasks, but subscribes to her mother's Chaktawe philosophy that functionality and beauty can easily be balanced provided someone is willing to put in the time and effort. She tends to either pull her wavy hair back into braids or let it run loose down her back, and wears neutral or natural colours. More often than not, she travels barefoot.

Character Concept

Jeshmin grew up as a child of two worlds - her mother teaching her the Chaktawe traditions and showing her how to worship their gods, while she lived in the very different land of Lhavit. She thrived in both, applying the lessons her mother taught her to her life in Lhavit, and merging Lhavit and Chaktawe festivals.

A serious, practical girl, Jeshmin could never manage to be as much of a free-spirit as her mum. Even young she tended to have a still, unamused face - more ponderous than unhappy.

After her mother's recent death, Jeshmin's guide, mentor and only parental figure (and, truth be told, only friend) is gone, leaving her to navigate her life alone for the first time.

Character History

Jeshmin (pronounced Heshmin, technically, although she's gone by the expected pronunciation/spelling for years now) was not raised by a slave. Yes, her mother had been bought and sold and owned, but the memories Jeshmin has of that time is of a proud, dignified Chaktawe, teaching her stories of the home she would never see, of their traditions and gods.

Those memories are brief though, and even their escape is fragmented in her mind. What she does remember vividly is waking up that first night in Lhavit, in her mother's arms, in a soft bed, and feeling for the first time genuinely safe.

Times were hard, but frankly had been a lot harder. Jeshmin went to school for the first time, and slowly started to catch up with her peers. Her mother did whatever odd jobs she needed to do earn enough money for the two to survive, and slowly saved enough to buy them a small house. Just them - and their birds, of course.

Her mother passed away recently from a slow sickness, leaving Jeshmin to look after their small house (and pets) on her own.
