Syka Spring 13, 522AV
The sun was nearing high noon when Evalynn emerged from beneath the bowels of the boat. It kissed her skin with a warm touch, causing her to close her eyes and take it in. The one refreshing thing she had experienced on this vessel since they set sail. Otherwise, she was down underneath, sick to her stomach and having a hard time keeping her balance. But it was all worth the 30 gold she spent to get here.
"Lookin' better missy, glad ta see yer walkin' now."
A crewmate greeted her with a smile as he walked by, hauling along some thick ropes for later.
"We be nearin' land soon, best get yerself ready ta dock."
At that, Evalynn perked up and scurried to the nearest edge of the boat. She hadn't realized they were already so close to the land. From this distance, she could see the sandy beach and lush greenery in the back. It fit the bill of a jungle oasis and this made Evalynn all the more anxious with anticipation.
'This is exciting, a new beginning in a new place! And one where everything is just starting to grow!'
Her thoughts of future plans rushed through her head like a wave rolling over the coastal sands. She would sink her toes into the sands of the beach as she laid back under the sun and basked in the heat. Or maybe she would timidly explore the edges of the city, careful not to go into the jungle for she was not experienced enough. Her mind shifted to her hand crafting herself a home, sculpting it into what she was visualizing and bringing it to life like a potter would a slab of clay. Evalynn was so in her head, that she don't notice as the ship had already docked and began to settle in.
"Oh! Drat, I forgot to get my things!"
And by things, Evalynn mainly meant her small pack of common items and her father's dagger. It wasn't a lot, and by no means was any of it worth any value, but it was everything that she owned. After a few minutes, she followed the crowd from the docks and was hit with instant humidity. Her body began to perspirate rapidly and she had to take a few swipes at her forehead to keep the sweat from her eyes.
'From the blessings above, why is it so hot and humid!' She thought, pulling away the clothes that cling to her body. She felt as if she had been dipped in honey and thrown to the arctic. 'I need to get out of these clothes, even though they are the lightest clothes I could get l.'
Her thoughts once again had her lost before she was called out to by a man's voice. Startled a bit, she turned some to find a tall man, standing alone and gesturing for her to come over. He was older, looking to be late 50's to early 60's judging by his white hair. However, that wasn't the only thing to him, the rest of his body would probably put him in his 40's. He wore a white collared, button up and some shorts with bare feet mingling with the sand. He seemed so welcoming that she walked over as if she knew him and gave a polite hello.
"Well, hello. You look to be another new face coming to Syka. Let me welcome you, my name is Mathias, a founder of this city. It also seems you also met another founder, Captain James, upon the ship?"
Mathias guides Evalynn along the Swing Beach, allowing her to take in the sight with awe. He then began to speak again.
"If not, you will have another chance today to meet with him. But for now, you will be meeting with me and Randal."
