Physical Description
Alea Jacta Est

Conor is a young man, who has just recently become a grown-up, but who clearly has some boyish features left. With his short raven black hair and his green eyes, he has always looked somewhat impenetrable, and he has always been attractive. Strangers often think he looks arrogant because of his witty eyes and mysterious look. He does indeed always look like he is in total control, like he's invincible. His personality couldn't be more different. The black hair actually sets him apart the most, because in the northern region of Taldera, that is pretty rare. When he became a man, the young boy he once was turned into a handsome adult with a muscled and athletic built. His skin is pale, like most humans hailing from the Taldera region.

He has several scars adorning his skin, most of them on his back; each one of them is a memory of failure from his training. His smile is yet another reason why he is good looking, his pearl white teeth and his gentle features have always given him somewhat of a mischievous smile. Conor always has a penchant for tattoo’s and due to that he has several of them adorning his body. A red dragon crawls up around his left eye, and his wrist is decorated with a black spiral. Both of them represent courage and martial prowess. Conor is 6’2” tall, and weights around 85 kg.

Conor wears a black shirt with silver stitches when he’s just strolling around in hamlets and cities. He wears black trousers with it. Due to the dark color of his clothing, Conor generally manages to blend in with crowds and he’s quite good at staying out of sight. The downside of his black clothing is that it makes him look like a brigand or a thief. Dark colors - and black in particular - have always been favored by bandits after all. His cloak, one of his trademark items, is dark, dark blue to be accurate, and it has some white fur around the edges of the collar.

Character Concept

One for all, all for one!

Personality

Conor has had a harsh youth, being the son of the village chieftain, he was often evaded by the other childs and excluded from the games of the other childs. The "others" like Conor used to call them picked fights with him, and they tried to make fun of every aspect of Conor's life. Whether he was learning how to handle a sword or how to rule a village, it didn't matter to them, they just made fun of it regardless. Conor's father tried his best to help his son by giving him a busy schedual, but Conor just wanted to fit in. His youth permanently put a mark on him, and even now, he still tries to be loved, to be accepted by the world. He learned the world was unfair, and he lost track of the times that luck had abandonned him. When he failed at a most of the courses his father had given him, like mathematics and history, he lost the respect of his tutors and they punished him severly. Beatings became a routine in his life, and they described him as bone idle. In fact, Conor was pretty lazy because he didn't like the subjects, they didn't seem nessecary to him. No one - not even the son of the village guard captain managed to beat him in melee, and that was were Conor found a way out of his dreadful existence.

To improve his life standard and to gain the respect of the others, Conor learned how to stand up for himself. He applied his martial prowess with a blade - the one subject he didn't fail miserably at - to every day circumstances. He used wooden branches to fend off other kids and he used the different feints and ruses he had learned to dodge their punches. He became accustomed to pain, and his endurence grew bigger every day. Such was his prowess in melee that soon the kids stopped to bully him. Because of this, Conor learned that sometimes, to earn the respect of others, he needs to fight for it. Not just with blades and weapons, but with his mind and wits as well. His tongue became sharper as he became older and soon his comments were often witty and sarcastic. He discovered the benefits of humor, and soon, he laughed away his troubles with his charming laugh.

When Conor became an adult, his craving for knowledge expanded. No longer did he want to stay in that miserable little village, he wanted to broaden his horizon, to meet new cultures and to learn about them. The lessons of his tutors which had mainly focussed on repeating the same folklore over and over again became neigh unbearable. His duties as the heir to the village throne soon irritated Conor even more. He was fed up with the Talderan lore, and he wanted to see the world, all of it. He wanted to leave this dreadful existence in Highpeak, his native village. He wanted to go to area's where they respected him for who he was, where they didn't condemn him for his origin. Even though his life became a bit more comfortable as an adult - his attractiveness far outmatched the others of his village - he still made preparations to sneak out.

Conor likes to make new friends and he loves to discover new experiences and races. His craving for knowledge grew exponentially and he finally ran off. Conor is Courageous - he does fear certain things and he feels anxious sometimes, but he does things regardlessly. That is were true courage lies. Conor wants to be loved (especially by women) and he loves to make new friends. He's always up for a quick drink at a tavern. Nevertheless, Conor's wrath is not one you want to behold. If you get on the wrong side of him, he will strike you down like a vengeful monster

Ethics

Conor isn’t the law abiding person on could find on Mizahar; he has never been one to support the concept of rules. Perhaps that is where part of his charm lies, in his brigand way of live. Although Conor wouldn’t even consider steeling from the poor, he has never been to fond of nobility, and so if he ever got the chance to wrong them, he would probably take it. Taxes and the like aren’t even known to Conor, he’s oblivious to them, and he would never allow the government to take money or items of him. But since he travels and doesn’t really have any nationality anymore, he has never been confronted with such an occasion yet; but he keeps his blade sharp for would it ever occur. Moral is something Conor puts up with, he wouldn’t wrong the innocent – although he is sometimes tempted when those ignorant civilians start ranting again. Conor has a survival attitude, but he combines that with his helping nature. He’s always ready to help someone, be it by liberating a wagon out of a muddy pool or by fending off a couple of bandits. Conor likes doing the right thing, but he isn’t naïve, sometimes it is impossible to use moral as a guide. Sometimes one has to chose for a lesser evil in order to achieve a greater good. Nevertheless, Conor would never make such a decision for evil lightly, and he would always take a shot at taking the good way. It might seem like Conor has a complicated mix of feelings regarding morals and ethics, but to him, that’s just the way of life. His most frequently used expression has always been; “Fortune Favors The Bold”, and he tries to live his way like that.

Religion

As far as religion is concerned, Conor has no deity or god to whom he answers. He doesn’t even believe they exist – except for the ones that played a key role in the Valterrian. He despises that one god that led to the massacre of thousands – even millions of people all for one woman’s sake. As far as Conor knows the other gods and goddesses, he has not found a deity worthy of his worship yet. Some call him arrogant for it – especially the overzealous followers – because he thinks that they need to be worthy of his worship. They think that man should be honored to have the chance to worship them, instead of the other way around, but Conor believes that people shape their own destiny and that the gods are there to guide them. But people shouldn’t follow any deity, they should be very wary not to pick the wrong god. Conor won’t be found in temples, except for when it is a custom in a culture – then he would go to pay his respects to the people, not the god. One of Conor’s goals is to find a divinity that suits him, that he really believes in. Alas he hasn’t found one yet – due to the fact that he has only just begun with his travels . A perfect deity would be a just and powerful being in Conor’s eyes, that rewards and protects followers, but that doesn’t request holy wars, human/blood sacrifice or anything else that is deemed malicious. The perfect divinity respects the choices of its flock, believers and atheists alike.

Likes, Dislikes and Fears

Likes: Conor is into lots of stuff, he has an eager mind ready to soak up every little crumble of knowledge that passes him on his travels. But it is mainly the physical that he is interested in. Sword fighting, horseback riding, running, Conor loves it all. Flirting is yet another pastime that Conor enjoys; nothing beats a lazy Sunday in his book then one that is spend conquering yet another woman. But Conor doesn’t like every girl, slutty ones are always a big no in his book – except when they enjoy the flirting part like he does. With slutty girls he means the ones that are looking for a quick hump and that are plain stupid. Drinking is another hobby of Conor’s and he is getting quite adept at it. Weaponry and armor are yet another thing that Conor is fond off. He loves to try different weapons – mainly exotic ones – and he is always looking for yet another weapon style to better himself with. Such as throwing weapons, a relatively new interest of Conor. Javelin and knife, Conor enjoys throwing both of them to spice up his melee. Combat prowess is one of the main virtues Conor wants to better himself with, and another goal of his is to combine the best of every warrior culture to become the ultimate swordsman. Culture and lore is yet another subject Conor loves to know about, and he can often be found reading books about them in libraries. His small village had a tiny library, and despite the boring books it contained, Conor eventually read them all to please his tutors and to gain the knowledge held within.

Likes: woman, flirting, drinking, fighting, swords, armor, knowledge, lore, culture, travelling, treasure, money, rogues, bounties, puzzles, rewards,…

Dislikes:There are as many things that Conor likes as there are things he hates, common citizenry not being the least of them. As a result of an unhappy youth, Conor pinned most of his troubles on the narrow minded commoners that swamp the lands. Just because they aren’t looking for a life filled with adventure and freedom, they shouldn’t criticize people who do. In Conor’s eyes, commoners are chained to their rigid existence and they don’t want anyone to unshackle themselves when they lack the strength to unshackle themselves. They hide themselves and their true goals in life behind their dull faces and they deny the truth till one day it catches up with them and they feel sorrow that they didn’t try harder to achieve them. Despite the fact that Conor likes rogues, he isn’t fond of bandits. He deems them as a plague that floods the lands; he isn’t really fond of them, not the least because they prey on the innocent and the unarmed and they butcher them. Linked to that, arrogance is yet another thing Conor hates. Even though many insult him of being arrogant himself – a lie – because he follows his principles of not choosing a deity before he finds one worthy, or because he chose to ran off, he really hates those that are overconfident. He can’t help himself but teach them a lesson when he has the chance to do so. Whores and the like are yet another caste that Conor can’t stand, they seem mindless and feeble and they lack the courage to escape their existence. They are shallow and ignorant in his eyes, especially the ones that choose for such a life.

Dislikes: Bandits, whores, sluts, commoners, arrogance, zealous men, shallowness, rules, laws, jails, …

Fears:
It takes a courageous man to admit ones fears. Conor fears many things, like most people do, but then again he never lets those fears hinder him. For instance, Conor fears monstrous creatures but that wouldn’t stop him from hunting one down and killing it. So can those things be really considered fears? What Conor does really fear is that he will lose everyone that is dear to him – or that he will never become close friends/lovers with someone. Another fear of his is that he will never become anything more than just another adventurer that will find death somewhere along his travels. But Conor’s heart belongs to travelling, adventuring and discovering. Never will he let fears intervene and he will always confront them until they finally disappear.

Experience

Personal Flaws and Merits
Flaws: Conor’s main personal flaw is his commitment to certain projects(e.g. travelling). He won’t ever quit those causes, even if it would cause his death or if it would mean suicide. Once he sets his eyes on something, he goes for it, diving headlong into adventure and danger, expecting fate to catch him. It is a certainty that one day this will have severe consequences, but as long as lady fortune smiles upon Conor, he will continue his bold actions. Another flaw would be his laziness, yes, that’s right, despite his commitment to certain schemes of his, he’s quite lazy when such a dedication is missing. For instance if he is forced to do something, he usually doesn’t do it right, he’s not really one to obey. Conor is homeless and in unknown territory, which makes him somewhat of a pariah, an outsider to society. His hatred towards commoners and their narrow minded visions on the world don’t exactly help him to be accepted. And being accepted is one of his main concerns, this duality can be found in almost anything that Conor does. For instance, he can hate or dislike a certain person, but if that person would be a treasure of knowledge or experience, he would put such feelings aside for his own advantage. But he’s not one to do so likely, so beware his wrath if you wrong him.
Flaws: Homeless, pariah, drinks a lot, sometimes dishonest,...

Merits: Every person has his flaws, but just like every person, Conor has his merits. He’s loyal and brave, always ready to help friends and ready to put aside his own concern. His commitment to certain projects and persons is unmatched and when he sets his mind on something, he will achieve it. His sometimes bold actions make him seem invulnerable even though he often gets into bad situations due to them. But with his charismatic laughter and ways he always manages to get out stronger than before, ready to learn out of every single experience. Conor is a quick student – at least, he is so when he commits himself to studying something. He’s the sort of guy that always tries to make a difference in the world around him and that certainly tells something about him. He’s courageous and charming, and he’s a born rogue. Rules are there to be broken and they are not worthy of his attention. With these peculiar character traits, Conor opens as many doors as he closes, but it’s worth it.

Merits: Courageous, charming, loyal, commitment, born rogue,...

Race: Human
Age: 19

Appearance

Appearance: Conor is a youthful man, who has just become a grown-up, but who clearly has some boyish features left. With his short raven black hair and his green eyes, he has always looked somewhat baffling, and he always seemed to have a certain appeal. The black hair actually sets him apart the most, because in the northern region of Taldera, that is pretty rare. When he became a man, the young boy he once was turned into a handsome adult with a muscled and athletic built. His skin is pale, like most humans hailing from the Taldera region.

Conor has several scars adorning his skin, most of them on his back. Each one of them is a memory of failure from his training.
But of course, Conor wears armor as well; splintmail to be precise. His armor is made of narrow, vertical strips of metal riveted to a backing of leather that is worn over his cloth padding. Flexible chainmail protects the joints. A helmet protects his head, and is decorated with red horse hair on top of it.

Home Region/Domain
Home region: (he grew up in Taldera, but he visits Sylira more frequently) Sylira

Personality

Likes: sexy women, rogues, combat, money, improving himself, alcohol, traveling, discovering, puzzles
Dislikes: bandits, arrogance, rules, laws, cities, farmers,…
Personality: Conor is a man of contradictions, with a complex and interesting personality. For instance, Conor is pretty lazy, and he enjoys hanging around in the Inn more then he likes hard work. But as soon as he finds something worthy of committing himself to, he’s neigh unstoppable. Then he’s like a workaholic, not being able to stop with his new obsession, whether he’s trying to find an old forgotten ruin, or trying to win the heart of a fair damsel in distress. Conor always had this sort of aura around him, a sort of natural charm that made him somewhat of a pariah as well as almost irresistible. Conor was always fond of his freedom, yet, if he finds a suitable employer, he’s willing to give it up for a little while.

Conor is a sarcastic type, with a rather sharp tongue. To become friends - or perhaps even more? - with Conor one needs to be a rather "lose" type. Gray doesn't really grasps the concept of rules, and he doesn't really understand why people tend to follow them. That's why he has a rather cold disposition towards those people. Some sense of humor and being able to converse decently are two other requirements that are necessary to gain Conor’s confidence. However, people who lack all three do have a chance to win his favor, in a number of ways; like helping him out, or whatever. Gray isn't the most forgiving kind of guy, he tends to hold grudges for long times.

History

Conor was born in Taldera, he was the son of a village chieftain there. His father, Graywulf, ran a small village in the mountain outskirts. Life was hard there, and every day was a constant fight for survival. Conor wasn’t spoiled like many children of political leaders, no he was raised the hard way. Every failure was compensated with a beating, and Conor soon learned his lesson. Those beating however also formed his hatred for laws and bounds. He always felt restricted by them, he felt like a caged animal.

But life wasn’t that bad, at night, the village gathered around a campfire, and the elders told stories about the great war that once had led to the demise of two great empires. Conor always dreamt away, hearing stories of the old heroes. He wanted to see the world outside his village, away from the mountainsides with their constant avalanche threat, and with the cold climate. Conor learnt how to defend himself, and he tried his best to improve himself every time he could. He had a goal now, getting out of the village, and running off to distant lands with exotic names and many heroes.

When he turned eighteen his father took Conor with him, travelling to Sylira to make his son join the knights. Conor escaped just in time, leaving his father when they were just a day’s travel away from Sylira.
