When I read that, I think of someone I dearly loved to write with. I hope hes doing well.
It was his favorite quote. You know him. You once played his sister-in law. Here's to fond memories. May the world be always full of Venn Drega's.

. Fond memories, I do miss him and his dastardly counterpart and hope all is well. Those were some of my favorite writing/reading times to date. We had some good fun!

I have had some health scares lately that I only shared with one person on here, but now that some things are cleared up, I feel at liberty to write a little more openly as I no longer require sympathy.

Plus this is a lonely corner of the site. I don't like airing my personal life overmuch, but it is cathartic to write some things out. And I could use a bit of a catharsis.

A rather stumbling path of various health anomalies brought me to a possible diagnosis that was a bit unsettling. The diagnosis has been refuted, much to my relief, but we are still digging.

It all winds about my heart. Literally. I was walking to work and I found my hand had crept up to rest over my heart. I was struck with the sudden thought:

"How can one be betrayed by something within them? By themselves?"

The heart is wrapped around so much and symbolic of many things: love, feeling, the core of a matter. It has become a character and embodiment of personality and passion. When it is physically flawed, this warm companion becomes strange. It is like embracing a friend only to find they have turned hateful in your grasp.

I was faced with a particular violation. Disease and injury are external, invasive, an enemy you can look at. It feels so different when you consider it is one of the parts that comprise you that is flawed and destructive.

While one possibility has been struck down, mercifully, there are others to explore. Thankfully, I think they will be less severe. God is good, regardless.

Your heart is a rare jewel.
I will wish it, and indeed all of that which makes up the wonderfulness that is yourself, a swift diagnosis and a speedy recovery.
Life is challenging. It always has been and always will be. It's not ever really about the end, because for us mere humans the end is always the same.
Rather its about all the things in the middle and how we face them. I know you face your own with courage and good humor.
And I hope you always keep doing so, no matter how much things can scare you.
