Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Fake Translates To Real [Caelum]

Live through every single season as if it were your last. Take advantage of the opportunities you had within your grasp that others didn't. That Kylie would.

Riverfall was a very special land; at least that's what Kylie's family told her. Her mother had said the second safest place where a Konti woman could live after Mura was indeed Riverfall. Many other woman out in this dangerous world didn't have the luxurious option to go to sleep in their own beds; sleep with both of their eyes closed; have a good meal at night; wake up in the morning with things to look forward to.

Yes.

Kylie was a fortunate scaled woman. She adored the outdoors. Quiet walks. Kylie couldn't leave her Windswept condo in undergarments. She slipped her legs into a pair of leather pants that were rather tight. Designed to show off curves. In addition Kylie pulled a short sleeves; pink cotton blouse over her head and onto her body. The final touch was a pair of custom pink leather boots.

A fully dressed Kylie skipped her way outside of the condo. To her luck she instantly spotted a favored face. Caelum! The first word that popped to the scaled woman's head when she saw this man was 'luscious.' The horns on his head in addition to his glow made him that much more exotic. That much more desirable to Kylie. A human man with horns? Who would have thought? Kylie said in her head. In the dark about what Caelum truly was.

There was some bad news; Kylie thought someone like Caelum was way out of her league. She had come across him one time in the past but wasn't keen on holding a long conversation.

Before Caelum could dance off past the Windswept condos Kylie was trailing behind him. Quick paced steps. She called out to him "Wait a moment. I need you." That ought to work. Pretending to have a slight dilemma would be a conversation starter.

Fake Translates To Real [Caelum]

Postby Caelum on December 10th, 2013, 12:41 am

The morning had already proved to be somewhat of a trial.

Since his ordeal with Haev Provedan, head slaver of Riverfall and Rattling Chains, Caelum had not ventured beyond the borders of the Sanctuary. He had not even gone down to the beach to scowl with ill concealed bitterness at the outbound tides as if by sheer force of will alone he could bid them stay. Instead he had huddled within the Sanctuary walls, finding dozens upon dozens of things to do that did not require him to even so much as step too far into the pastures. Yet as the days waned and waxed, a note came for the ethaefal from the Tuvya Sasarin where his instructor resided. It was a request that, if Caelum would be so kind, Ismail Bahram himself was in need of an especial tincture to help ease him of a hacking cough that was keeping him awake at night.

Pulled by a healer's duty perhaps more than what ghosts of need might have lingered on the politely penned letter Caelum had at last packed up the appropriate potions taken from philtering lab and a few more typically useful items from the healing clinic. He set out, dressed in riding boots and riding leathers, a hooded cotton shirt beneath the high collar of his jacket. He walked loose hipped but dedicated through the streets of Riverfall, watching things largely from the corners of his eyes rather than lift his head and risk catching anyone's eye.

Nonetheless, he had managed to turn a corner and be tumbled into by a rushing sailor. It had taken nearly an bell to sort his way through that unexpected compulsion; and newly on guard, the ethaefal's steps slowed at the unexpected call.

He turned, golden eyes sliding over to catch up on the konti in his regard. His eyebrows rocked slowly up, tugged at by that particular choice of words. Almost immediately, he began to perform a visual inspection of the woman in search of signs of injury or illness. He was used to being stopped for such reasons, what with the gnosis mark of sweet Rak'keli boldly imprinted on the back of his right hand. Moreover, the longer he stayed in Riverfall, the more and more people seemed to recognize him in that vague sort of way anyone would have when trying to remember a horned man.

"Are you well?'" He asked, quiet and to the point, when the konti drew closer. She looked vaguely familiar and he cast about for the appropriate connection before recalling a fleeting conversation in a shop a little while back. "Kylie," he remembered. "Is everything alright?"

Fake Translates To Real [Caelum]

It has often been said that there isn't a thing in the world that could disorientate you; change your natural state of mind more than a simple bottle of alcohol. Kylie herself had her own saying to combat those words.

The only thing that could intoxicate a woman more than alcohol was a man with the physical features that Caelum possessed. Those piercing eyes; that flawless skin; a visually perfect frame. It would make you almost as thirsty or even more thirsty than all the horrors of the world. It was dangerous. An exhilarating dangerous. The scaled woman made a mental note to write that down later in the day. He really was something an author would have thought of brought to life.

As the scaled woman eased closer and closer to the man he asked her if she was well. As an instant reaction; as fast as prey jumping out of a predator's way she blurted out; "No."

Which was nothing more or less than a lie. She just didn't want Caelum to wander off away from her right then and there. Kylie wanted to draw this out and see if she can suck information out of him like a leech. Personal information in a bold attempt to grow closer to him. Caelum remembering her name was a big bonus. It made the Konti smile lightly. She must have said something interesting that day for him to recall.

"My side is in a lot of pain. Would you have the time to inspect?" Another lie. She placed her left hand on her stomach revealing her pasty white side. To Kylie's misfortune her Rak'keli mark was located right on her left side. It stood out like a light. Occupied by trying to keep Caelum around; someone the scaled woman forgot. A gorgeous man made her forget things about her own body.

Fake Translates To Real [Caelum]

"Of course." Caelum frowned, concern crawling across his face. For a few moments, he held the young woman's eyes, his own bright gold shadowed with a healer's natural empathy. He adjusted the strap of his bag over his shoulder and then let them tilt, slouching him comfortably out of the way of a few passers-by.

He lifted one hand in quiet beckon for Kylie to step closer to the stone wall of the building they stood behind and, when she did, he finally dropped his regard to where she placed her hand against her side. Noting nothing of any immediate harm, he instead found himself inspecting the familiar, opalescent glow of Rak'keli's gnosis on the konti's hand. Many konti were marked by Avalis' dark sister in Caelum's experience, the nature of the society on Mura and the existence of the indomitable Opal Order inclining many of the women in the direction of healing.

"You're a healer," he noted and lifted his eyes, paring her a brief flash of a smile. "What do you think is causing the problem? We can work our way back from there." A part of him wondered if Kylie was of those, once marked by Rak'keli, who relied too heavily on the divine intervention of their patron goddess. Caelum did not think very highly of such healers, finding the practice lazy and assumptive; but Kylie struck him as being young, and it was easily as likely that she simply had not had the time or opportunity yet to be trained in more mundane aspects of being a physician.

"A pain in the side can be the result of a number of things, and the symptom of more. You haven't suffered any sort of minor accident, have you? " He hesitated. "Should we step out of the street?"

Fake Translates To Real [Caelum]

Postby Kylie on December 23rd, 2013, 3:34 pm

Hearing Caelum agree to help was great. It was like having an individual place a large bag of spending money into your hands. Essentially to check and see if there was something wrong with Kylie's side Caelum likely wouldn't have any other choice but to touch that same side; so Kylie thought.

The potential to have a large; warm; comforting hand placed on her stomach drowned out any other thought process.

Kylie took a few steps moving towards the stone wall. Good and ready to have Caelum 'heal' her she stood there with an expression on her face. An impatient one. Kylie didn't have the stomach to tell anyone to hurry; those expressions told the story for her.

That's when the man figured out Kylie was a healer for whatever reason. What in the world would tell him that? Kylie thought to herself scanning the area around her. Then looking down to her own Gnosis mark. Her heart sunk so low it felt as if it could have fell out of her chest and on to the ground.

The questions rained in; the scared scaled woman thought Caelum would never talk to her again for wasting his precious time. Kylie tried to dodge them by only answering Caelum's final question. "Yes. Exiting the street is a good idea, love." She said with obvious fear in her tone.

As Kylie turned around she could hear two figures dragging themselves on the ground. It caught the attention of both healers. "Help!" One of the figures yelled out. They inched closer. Kylie now saw two Akalak. One blue. One red. Holding each other up. The blue Akalak had a dagger stuck in his own left side. Blood already escaping his mouth; dripping down his chin. The red one had a large; bloody gash on his stomach along with various stab wounds on his chest. One around the lung area. There was no telling how much damage was done to them.

"Caelum...." the Konti called out to her friend looking for an answer as to what she should do. She never dealt with things like this. That was her grandmother's job. It was quite overwhelming. To think a lie got her caught up in it all.

Fake Translates To Real [Caelum]

Postby Caelum on January 1st, 2014, 7:27 pm

Caelum was clueless to the inner turmoil roiling through Kylie. If they were alone in a room together rather than on a public street then the divine power of his Nikali gnosis mark would have likely picked up on more than a bit of it, but as it was things moved too fast for anything to properly translate and raise his eyebrows. He was still under the impression that Kylie was ill and needed his help, and that was all he needed to know. Wasn't it?

"Alright," he agreed, squinting one eye at the shifting expressions on her face. The fear in her tone snagged at him. "Kylie, what's going on? Where..." He trailed off, muscles stiffening, and his head turned to the side like a weathervane at the cry for help.

With surprise, Caelum watched the injured Akalaks crawl. "What in the world," he muttered, and a blistering curse lit the air at the heels of that remark. Where did they come from? How had they been injured? What was it about this day? All of it ceased to matter and he sprung into action.

"Kylie," he ordered, "Send to the Gilia for help. Quickly!"

There was a great deal of blood and Caelum did not know if he was capable of handling this situation in the middle of a public street without all of the proper equipment. Then again, he had teethed his learning in medicine on field work and piss poor conditions, trying to triage and save lives with dwindling supplies and going on little to no sleep. Caelum was often capable of more than he gave himself credit for.

"Hey, here --" He spoke, shifting his body around to catch the blue skinned Akalak when his elbows buckled. He grunted at the weight, but held on and swept his consideration to the flowering entrance of the Windswept Condos. They were too heavy, however, and Caelum spilled the blue Akalak onto his back with a careful shove. His jacket was shrugged out of, dropped on the ground even as he pulled a cloth out hastily wrap over the entry wound where the knife was still sticking out.

Golden eyes went to the other Akalak, then back to the blue. He noted the stab wounds in the red, but the blue was coughing up blood. That was a sign of higher danger, though both were right up there on the scales. Swift triage had him focusing his attention on the blue skinned Akalak.

"Kylie!" He called again. "Get over here. You need to slow down his bleeding." Caelum's words adopted a strong, mellow tone, one laden with expectation that his instruction would be followed along with the confidence that his unexpected student could successfully follow them. It was a trick he had learned from Cian Noc ages and ages back. Healers had to keep their heads about them.

That didn't that he didn't hope physicians from the Gilia Medical Center didn't arrive soon. His healing gnosis lit up like flame on his left hand, but it would not be enough. He could only hope that he and Kylie's combined skills were.
