Overview: Spring 514 AV
Spring arrives a late to Riverfall, allowing the snow to remain for a few days before abruptly melting and flooding areas of the city. The excessive water is blamed for a brief bout of sickness, but both the sickness and the water eventually subside. Rain continues off and on through the season, leaving the city damp, but bursting with floral life.
Partying is in season this season, with multiple festivals and events giving an excuse to let loose. Festivals celebrating the body, such as the Form and Fitness Festival and the Ink Festival, are offset by Sweetday, a festival of sweets and indulgence. One of the festivals sparks another, and a tournament between Riverfall and the nearby Endrykas is held halfway through the season. A city-wide secret is kept, and after one surprise festival when a Tear of Zintila is spotted, Sava Chivan’s surprise birthday party becomes the premier social event in the later Spring.
Relations with the visiting Drykas are not all roses however. When a pair of women - one from each city - disappear, initial suspicions about the other city’s role in it develop into an extensive search. The situation is resolved however, and traffic between the cliff city and the moving city of tents once again becomes amicable until Endrykas moves away to the north at the end of the season.
1st – Valterrian Survival Festival, cold weather delays much of the snow melting.
2nd – Endrykas settles in its closest yearly position to Riverfall, generating a lot of trade between the cities, particularly in weapons and metals.
5th – Heavy rain and warmer weather melts the remaining snow, causing flooding in the upper and lower tiers of the city.
7th – A stomach flu runs rampant throughout the city, and many point to the large amounts of standing water.
10th – The flooding finally subsides, leaving extensive dirt deposits and water damage.
14th – To welcome Endrykas back to the area, Coalinga Gem Mines opens extensive tours of the upper levels of the mines and allows visitors to ‘mine’ for their own gems.
21st – Heavy rains blanket the city, cleaning the dirty city but also washing many items into the Bluevein.
30th – In anticipation of the Form and Fitness Festival and the Ink Festival later in the season, Riverfall Ink offers a 50% discount on new tattoos.
33rd – The youths of the latest Rite of Trial return without any casualties, sparking an impromptu celebration throughout the city.
45th – The Form and Fitness Festival
52nd – An informal bet started during the Form and Fitness Festival sparks a Tournament of Cities – Endrykas vs Riverfall. Events include horseback riding, one on one combat, and an obstacle course.
59th - The Silk Gulls at Rookery Park begin hatching, and the spot becomes a popular hangout to watch the birds.
60th – Sweetday!
67th - A Nakivak and one of Endrykas’ captured women go missing, and both Riverfall and Endrykas suspect the other as the pair’s hiding location. (Inter-city tracking quest, turns out they took off into the Sea of Grass together)
75th – In the early morning hours, a Tear of Zintila streaks across the sky, and a festival is declared.
84th – Sava Chivan’s birthday, and Nevar throws a surprise, public birthday party in Knirin Gardens.
90th – The Ink Festival
