AppearanceRace: Sverfa
Gender: Male
Height:6'2''
Weight:190lbs
Age: 21
Birthday: 3, Winter.493
Birthplace: Somewhere on the Suvan Sea
Appearance: Svene is a relatively tall Sverfa standing 6' 2'' and is relatively lean despite his tall stature. As with all Sverfa he has Laviku's gift of blue eyes, and you will always find that his hair is tied in dreadlocks that reach well past his shoulders. Sometimes he ties his dreadlocks back in a pony tail and at other times they are left untied. (He is absolutely uncompromising on changing his hair). Out on the sea he will usually go without a shirt, but in towns he is normally wearing some form of clothing for the upper body. He has a weak spot for jewelry and will buy some whenever he can. Whether its piercings, adorning his dreads, or his clothes, Svene will wear it proudly. Currently he has an earring in each ear, a nose ring, and a necklace all made out of silver.
Character ConceptSvene could be described by some as eccentric, quirky, and lazy. On the other hand, other would describe him as intelligent, original, and talented. Svene was naturally intelligent; however, he never looked down upon others not as smart as him. He actually prefers to socialize with people of a simple nature because more often than not intelligent people are one dimensional and shut their minds to views apart from theirs. Svene's intellect stems from a natural curiosity of the world around him. He is always eager to learn and discover the unknown. His curiosity and easy-going nature gives him a unique outlook on several things. Some of his quirks include willfully forgetting/avoiding things that do not interest him. Lying with a straight face, or a smile even though the lie itself is obvious. He usually lies to protect someone's feelings, or pull childish pranks.
Svene despises anyone who uses their blessings in life to take advantage of other people just for the sake of getting ahead in life. This is why he dislikes institutions, people with great knowledge, and the rich. He normally does not judge people at first glance or because of their background; however, he remains wary of these things.
Svene has his share of faults which he is more or less aware of. Besides his laziness, and willful ignorance, Svene will try to avoid getting involved in any major conflicts. This is not because he fears confrontation, but rather it is simply too much work and not productive. This can lead in things going unsaid, Another fault is that he can be very sensitive at times. This can lead in him becoming completely involved in the problems of others to the point that he forgets what he was doing beforehand. His sensitivity can cause him to severely misjudge a situation, or words. He is usually slow to anger; moreover, he might go through an array of emotions before he resorts to fury. When he does get to his breaking point it is said that he can be cold and ruthless. Last but not least he enjoys a good game. He is not reckless but he is not afraid to gamble for better or for worst.
Character History
So far Svene is the youngest of the newly formed Highwind Pod. He was the seventh child born and was the only one out of his siblings who attained the mark of Laviku at birth. (Hence where his nickname, "Lucky", comes from) In some cultures/families a situation like this could cause discord, and jealousy amongst each other, but everyone was extremely proud and happy for him. They even celebrated with a party. That said it is normal to have high expectations for a person with special qualities amongst relative normalcy. (That is if you consider Sverfa normal).
As a child he was often over protected due to the potential his family saw in him. He would often be accompanied while swimming, and would be subject to his family's over reactions at even the most minor injuries; moreover, It did not help his case that at the time he was the youngest child. It was a strange juxtaposition at this time because even though the Sverfa were a fairly free willed race, he felt the walls of confinement all around him. He would often sneak out on his own at night to go swimming, adventuring, or anything that would quench his curiosity and thirst for freedom. His life was not too hard, and it was not overly tragic. The worst he had to deal with was hyper-affectionate family. His life would change when his older brother brought an instrument from Syliras. His second oldest sibling "Tow Highwind" (pronounced 'T'-'ow') discovered a Violin on his trip to Sylirias. He never specified whether he stole it or not, but what was evident was that he didn't seem to lose any of the money he left with. Tow wanted to trade or barter it; but Svene's eyes was lit with curiosity, excitement, and joy. He had seen, heard, and read about musician's and an instrument of this caliber must have been meant for him. Svene hated the fact that he was treated differently from the others, so he would rarely ask for anything because he knew his parents would just give him anything he wanted. That said this was something he just had to have, but he still didn't want to ask. Tow could clearly see his brothers excitement and gave it to him even though Svene never asked for it. This would definitely frustrate Svene, but he couldn't be too angry with his brother.
As he got older he would often lead the parties with his violin and would practice everyday. Music was his heart, and a tempo was his soul, but Svene was never one to become one dimensional. The violin only rose his curiosity about the world and gave him an unlikely thirst for independence. Around age 13 he would often entertain the idea of leaving the pod to become a world famous musician, and more often than not his family would quickly scold him for wanting to do something so rash. There was only one other option...lie. Around age 15, during one of their parties with another Sverfa pod, Svene told his parents that he was in love with a female Sverfa in another pod and he wished to join them. Of course he waited until they were drunk and in a great mood after dancing to his music. Even in this inebriated state they showed resistance to his departure; however, they eventually gave in as they would leave the rest to Laviku. Since Svene was such a terrible liar even he was surprised that his plan actually succeeded. He would then leave a note to explain the situation just in case they would not be able to remember what had happened the night before. This would not be a permanent goodbye as he held the Sverfa culture in high regard just like anyone else. He eventually would want to join a pod, but for the first time in his life he wanted to aim for his dreams.
Upon breaking away from the Highwind Pod he found himself in Zeltiva. It was the nearest city and why he chose to leave at this particular moment. He had heard many stories about Zeltiva. He figured a place like this could satisfy his curiosity until he would be able to travel across the world. It was also a good place to use his skills obtained while out at sea in order to make some extra money or trade for goods.
Svene's ultimate dream is to compose what he calls the Universal Symphony. He wants to create the ultimate musical piece using sounds, and cultures from all over the world. He often keeps this dream to himself as most would only dismiss it or call it foolish; however, there was never a moment where he was discouraged. For now he only focuses on learning as much as he can.
ReligionLaviku-Being born into the Sverfa culture and being marked by Laviku has left him little choice but to hold Laviku in high regard. He is always drawn to the sea no matter where he is and when he is out on sea he trusts in life IN Laviku's hands.
Rhaus-Ever since he took up his first interest he fell in love with music. This has lead in a deep respect for Rhaus.
Eyris-Svene usally acts on curiosity and he loves to attain knowledge of new things. For this reason he respects Eyris and may even pray to her from time to time.
Zulrav-Along with Laviku Svene considers Zulrav the other force out on the seas. He always makes sure to pay his respect to Zulrav whenever he is out on the sea.
