I also went with the separate thread route!

Here it is.

In summary, these are the items I chose:

1. Tanroa's 5th Chime Ring + a vial of Rohka's blood
2. Lheroa (fortune telling) cards + pure (see thread for interpretation) water
3. Assassin's Dagger + A generic black mask

This was super fun, thank you :D

Edited item because the previous one was from a thread that isn't done yet

Like Autumn, I decided to turn this action into a thread. The thread is When One Faces Oneself

Thread Quotes:

The girl child smiled. “We are going to brew.” She said, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. She tapped the enormous cauldron in front of her, set over the silver flames, and said… “Put something in there you value… something you love and need.” The child said, her silver eyes earnest.

Kelski nodded at the vision of her younger self. The Kelvic didn’t have a lot on her, but her backpack contained a shocking assortment of abnormalities. She started to reach for it, but the motion of her twisting to one side made her feel Pitch sheathed at her back. The Kelvic paused, changed directions, and pulled her beloved dagger out of its sheath at the small of her back. The dagger gleamed black in her hand and she gently reached out and set it in the cauldron. Immediately a frothy liquid, bubbling happily, began to mysteriously fill the cauldron.

Kelski watched, wide-eyed, as the little girl clapped in delight. “Oh Pitch! I don’t have him in my life yet. I might never have him. I don’t need him like you do. But I’m so glad to see him for a moment.” She said, then swung an identical backpack off her back that mirrored the one Kelski wore. She opened the flap, rummaged around in it, and pulled out a vial of what appeared to look like soulmist to Kelski.

The little girl uncapped the vial of soul mist and dumped it into the bubbling brew that had filled the cauldron and swallowed pitch whole. The soulmist swirled into the liquid, its dark color going from deep blue to a luminous glittering pale blue. It bubbled happily for a few moments and then the liquid began to vanish, either evaporating or draining in some hidden unseen plug at the bottom.

Kelski stared at what was left in the bottom.

The Dagger named Pitch + A Vial of Soulmist

And for the second one....

Thread Quote:

The Nightstalker finished her original motion, sliding off the backpack and rummaging around in it. She soon pulled forth a metal snake skull. It was a huge thing, perhaps a python or larger, though its head was more wedge-shaped and it seemed to have a hundred sharp metallic teeth but no fangs. “I killed this with Vasin below Sunberth. I think it was made of magic. It lived and was metal… I’d seen nothing like it ever.” Kelski told the child, who’s eyes widened and then she grinned with delight.

Kelski set the skull in the bottom of the cauldron with a resounding metal chime. The creature’s skull was almost the size of her own. It had been terrifying while alive. It was still scary dead. The little girl leaned over the cauldron, delight crossing her face. “It was animated and given a soul? How lovely!” She said, then opened her own backpack. She rummaged around in what appeared to be a mirror image of Kelski’s own bag and pulled out a batwing. The cauldron was already filling with a liquid that was swallowing the huge head within it. The batwing was consumed as well. Next, the girl pulled out a jar. She popped the top and grinned. “Brains. Human!” She said with a grin and dumped the contents of the jar into the cauldron that was already bubbling with dark liquid.

The Sea Eagle started to grow nervous. This might be a really bad idea. She had no idea what was going on and what the cauldron was actually doing to her things. However, it seemed the younger version of herself wasn’t done. She rummaged around in the backpack again and pulled out a bundle of three candles. The candles were etched with sigils and magical runes. They practically glowed with power. One was black, one was brown, and the final one was pink.

Kelski the child said… “Candles have power… especially if they were made with power. And colored candles have even more power.” The little girl said as she tossed the items into the cauldron as well. Much like the human brains and batwing, the candles were received and absorbed deep into the liquid. It bubbled happily for a while and then much like the previous batch had done, the liquid either began to evaporate or drained mysteriously out the bottom. It revealed something at the bottom of the cauldron.

OMG The stories!

Everyone got theirs in! And what a lovely variety too. I hope everyone had as much fun with the Cauldron as I did. I have about half your things figured out. I'll post them all tomorrow after work.

Prizes!

Kamilla
  • Item: Iron War Fan
  • Ingredients: Raven feather

At the bottom of the cauldron, once the bubbling brew receded, the war fan remained. It lay transformed, however. Folded up, it was as light as a feather and no thicker than one. Rather than its original shape and style, the war fan now resembled a stylized raven’s black metal feather. When fanned out, one feather became many – as many blades as the war fan had before. And though it was still as light as a feather, it was incredibly sharp – razor sharp – and still as strong as iron.

Kamilla
  • Item: Copper Armband
  • Ingredients: A Vial of Soulmist

At the bottom of the cauldron, once the bubbling brew receded, the copper armband remained. Its shape was the same, though its appearance had drastically altered. No longer appearing to be formed of copper, it had an ethereal quality - as if it did not quite dwell in this plane of existence. If worn, the wearer will immediately discover they have the ability to see ghosts clearly when the ghosts are about. And beyond that, they can sense the presence of ghosts if there are any in the vicinity.

Kamilla
  • Item: Copper Ring
  • Ingredients: A Vial Containing A Swirling Storm, Moonstone

At the bottom of the cauldron, once the bubbling brew receded, a single band of moonstone lay in a small puddle of the leftover potion. It looked like a ring carved of the semiprecious stone that would fit the wearer’s finger perfectly – no matter which she slipped it on. Once on the finger, the wearer would realize the ring had an incredibly calming presence about it. If she were angry, happy, sad, scared… it didn’t matter… any strong emotion would be soothed away and calmed. Likewise, she’d also notice that when wearing the ring, she only had to look at another sentient being to understand exactly what storm of emotion was swirling around within them. If someone was angry, she could tell immediately. If someone was sad… no number of smiles could hide this fact. This was always true of the wearer, though she would learn if she wore the ring in a crowd, the overload of information coming in from the ring would often lead to severe trauma and potentially madness.

Maderia
  • Item: A black cat called Spooks
  • Ingredients: Madeira's soulmist, dirt from the grave of a spirit Madeira has put to rest, vertebrae of a man killed in battle, a grey wolf's tooth, a black licorice candy

At the bottom of the cauldron, once the bubbling brew receded, a black creature not unlike Spooks remained crouched at the bottom. It was still the size of the cat laid in the cauldron; however, it had a distinctive ‘kitten-like’ look to it now. It also had natural bone-like armor down its back and covering the back of its legs.. and a tiny bit of its cranium. Opening its mouth to yowl its unhappiness at being wet, the creature displayed a far greater mouth full of teeth than any cat had ever possessed. Razor-sharp and monstrous, the little creature’s teeth echoed its yowl resounding around the empty cauldron. Its own unhappy noises caused it to jump in startlement at its own voice. It tripped over its huge paws and it whimpered when it fell. Picking itself back up, it mewed at Maderia and its breath smelled like licorice as it rose up, waving dagger-like claws as if asking to be picked up like a child. If she didn’t act immediately, it would blink out of existence – much like a ghost could – and materialize in her arms where it would proceed to purr deeply and make biscuits on her no-doubt finely embroidered or nice silk shirt which would be immediately shredded. Maderia would also learn that Spooks now had the ability to cross cemeteries and holy places people had died or been laid to rest without leaving any trace of his passing. (Hint: This thing will get bigger – mature about small lynx sized.)

Autumn Rose
  • Item: Necklace
  • Ingredients: Soulmist & Bottled Laughter

At the bottom of the cauldron, once the bubbling brew receded, the necklace still lay at the bottom of the cauldron. It had changed a bit, looking identical in form to when Autumn had added it to the mixture save for the fact there were tiny beads on the braided strands of metal necklace woven to hold the pendant. The beads were translucent and had a ghostly quality about them as if they didn’t actually fully exist on this plane. They glowed slightly, making the necklace even prettier than it had been previously. Everything else was the same with the necklace’ appearance. However, if Autumn picked up the necklace, she’d find that she could wear it anywhere and anytime – materialized or not – and it would stay with her. And as she touched it, she’d also know two things more about it. For each bead on the necklace – and there were 24 of them – she could touch an individual bead and store a happy and or mirthful memory there. The beads would keep the memories safe and anyone else – living or dead – could actually re-live the memories as if they experienced the memory themselves by touching the bead. The second thing about the necklace was that it made Autumn - if she willed it – as if she were a ghost to ghosts – untouchable and ethereal. The only way they could touch her wearing the necklace is if they themselves used soulmist on themselves made in a very special way with bits of her own soulmist, not unlike sourdough starter made from sough dough.

Dessarian
  • Item: leather night armor
  • Ingredients: Grave dirt and black spider

At the bottom of the cauldron, once the bubbling brew receded, the armor lay intact. However, rather than pitch black as it had been before, an intricate design not unlike the fine thin veins of a spiderweb crisscrossed its black surface. The design did not stand out in contrasting colors but was rather like fine black gloss paint applied over matte black gloss paint for a texture that formed a pattern. When wearing the armor, Dessarian would find that it gave him the ability to easily climb walls where no real good handholds could be found. This ability was not dependent upon his ability to climb as a skill, but more like a magical effect to his armor. In addition, the armor allowed him to move across graveyards and cemeteries in a way that left no trace – no track, no noise, and not even a thin trail of disturbed dew on the grass. This ability only works in holy places where people are buried.

Dessarian
  • Item: Iron wrist razors
  • Ingredients: Dess's blood and a lock of Kelski's hair

At the bottom of the cauldron, once the bubbling brew receded, the Iron Wrist Razors would be laying whole and seemingly unaltered. However, once the warrior strapped them on to use them, the wrist razors would completely meld to his body and vanish into his skin leaving them gone from sight. They would not even be able to be felt strapped on his wrist. If he actively thought of them and had need of them, they would materialize as not an awkward strapped on the weapon but as a seamless incredibly sharp claw that would form out of each of his wrists of the same size and thickness as the razors were. His ability to manifest and dismiss the ‘razors’ is within his absolute control. If one is damaged in battle, the next time it materialized at his will, it would be whole again. In addition, Dessarian would discover that once the razors melded to his skin, if he ever studied something in the distance – focusing on it to get a better look – he’d find his vision changing, sharpening to that of an eagles where he could see absolutely amazing clarity and detail even at a long-distance away. This ‘sight’ is also within his control and remains as long as the wrist razors are melded to his body and a part of his form.

Ennisa
  • Item: Black felted wide-brim hat
  • Ingredients: pure water + fresh brains

At the bottom of the cauldron, once the bubbling brew receded, the felt hat would remain unscathed. Now, however, it was completely waterproof and would never be soaked or ruined in bad weather. Conversely, it could be inverted and used as a vessel to hold water without the water leaking out. One could even place the hat over a fire and boil water if such a thing was required for survival or elevated comfort. In addition, the hat has gained a sort of limited sentience to its form that allows it to comment sarcastically to whomever is wearing it or using it in its new water-bearer form. It will not answer questions nor hold a conversation with the wearer. It just seems to retain a sort of sarcastic peanut gallery voice that runs commentary throughout its day that only the wearer can hear.

Ennisa
  • Item: Black cloak
  • Ingredient: vial containing a swirling storm, + moonstone

At the bottom of the cauldron, once the bubbling brew receded, the cloak would remain at the bottom seemingly unchanged save for its color. It was now as if someone had dyed its fabric to resemble the whirls and swirls of color on a moonstone. Once slung over ones shoulders, the wearer would realize the cloak had an incredibly calming presence about it. If she were angry, happy, sad, scared… it didn’t matter… any strong emotion would be soothed away and calmed. Likewise, she’d also notice that when wearing the cloak, she only had to look at another sentient being to understand exactly what storm of emotion was swirling around within them. If someone was angry, she could tell immediately. If someone was sad… no number of smiles could hide this fact. This was always true of the wearer, though she would learn if she wore the cloak in a crowd, the overload of information coming in from the cloak would often lead to severe trauma and potentially madness.

Ennisa
  • Item: Vial of black ink
  • Ingredient: red candle

At the bottom of the cauldron, once the bubbling brew receded, the vial of ink would remain. However, having started as black ink, one would now find it is a deep oxblood red in color. Applying quill to paper, using the ink, the person writing with this ink would feel a great inspiration and passion for such things as poems, love letters, and love songs. The ink and its color are amazingly inspiring for such endeavors.

Baelin
  • Item: Eating Knife
  • Ingredient: Grave dirt, "from a family plot", Soulmist, Human finger bone, "was good with his hands”.

At the bottom of the cauldron, once the bubbling brew receded, a knife could be found. This was no simple eating knife now, however. It was a bone-handled bowie style knife that was universally good in most outdoor endeavors making it handy for the wilderness or wild places such as Sunberth. In picking up the knife, one would immediately understand that it would ALWAYS be useful and effective against ghosts, doing them the damage it would do normal humans without any additional treatments to make it ghost friendly (or rather unfriendly). In addition, Baelin would find that his new knife allowed him to sense the presence and even see ghosts lurking about even if they haven’t materialized. In addition, the knife (if carried on his person anywhere) allowed him to move across graveyards and cemeteries in a way that left no trace – no track, no noise, and not even a thin trail of disturbed dew on the grass. This ability only works in holy places where people are buried.

Ialari
  • Item: Silk Robes of a Sentinel of the Silver Tower
  • Ingredients: Vial of Air Velispar Blood, Dhani Brains, A bat wing, Grave dirt of "a champion" (meaning is up in the air), Vial containing a swirling storm

At the bottom of the cauldron, once the bubbling brew receded, Ialari’s Sentinel Robes remained neatly folded. The first time she donned the robes, the very potent mix of Velispar Blood and batwing caused the robes themselves to flare out in a pair of wings that would allow Ialari flight for brief periods of time – to catch herself in a fall or to glide across spans too great to jump in times of emergencies. She couldn’t take off in flight from the ground, but leaping off incredibly tall buildings wearing the robes would result in graceful landings (with practice) in such situations. The robes also had additional properties now that Ialari would discover with wear. The robes would grant her the ability to flick her tongue out – much like a snake – and taste the air. This action, when she touched the tip of her tongue to the roof of her mouth, would flood her senses with information on what she was ‘smelling’ via the tongue motion. She becomes very good at tracking, sensing hidden enemies, or detecting the obscured if whatever is concealed has an odor. When slipping on the robes as well, Ialari also notice that she only had to look at another sentient being to understand exactly what storm of emotion was swirling around within them. If someone was angry, she could tell immediately. If someone was sad… no number of smiles could hide this fact. This was always true of the wearer, though she would learn if she wore the robes in a crowd, the overload of information coming in from the robes would often lead to severe trauma and potentially madness. And finally, the robes will allow her to move across graveyards and cemeteries in a way that left no trace – no track, no noise, and not even a thin trail of disturbed dew on the grass. This ability only works in holy places where people are buried.

Asterope
  • Item: A maledicted dog tooth from Aster's beloved deceased pet, Navi
  • Ingredient: A white candle

At the bottom of the cauldron, once the bubbling brew receded, the tooth still lay gleaming in the moisture in the bottom on a gleaming silver chain. If Asterope slips it back around her neck, she will find its unique properties enhanced. It used to have the ability to grant Asterope a trustful demeanor wherein any animal (not a monster or Kelvic) would look to her and not growl or snap. Now, however, it is full blow friendship. Any animal, even a monster or Kelvic, immediately gravitates towards Asterope and sees her as a friend and ally. They will act accordingly almost every time. (Note: Kelvics and Monstrous PCs may make a Resolve check to avoid this item. It’s resolve is 70 and must be rolled above).

Asterope
  • Item: The Cloak of Comfort
  • Ingredient: A glowing lantern and a white swan feather

At the bottom of the cauldron, once the bubbling brew receded, Asterope’s Cloak will be found to be safely folded at the bottom. Normally, this fine cloak looks to be made of light spun okomo wool and has embroidery around the edges. It appears as the color its owner wishes it too and perfectly regulates its owner’s temperature regardless of the harsh or mild conditions of the weather that surrounds it. Nothing has changed overtly, however, it now has additional properties. The cloak has the ability to glow in the dark at its wearer’s will, creating a radius of illuminating light around it not unlike a lantern that will provide adequate light to get a wearer safely home without fear of stumbling or losing a trail or path in the dark. Its radius of light is enough to provide the same benefit to a group of people accompanying the wearer without blinding either the wearer or their companions. In addition, this cloak will allow the wearer to gain an amazing singing or recitation voice so long as the cloak is worn while a song is sung or say a poem is recited. It will even enhance a wearer making a speech or giving a lecture, causing the audience to focus on the performer without wavering attention.

Rohka
  • Item: Tanroa’s 5th Chime Ring
  • Ingredients: Rokha’s Blood

At the bottom of the cauldron, once the bubbling brew receded, lay the 5th Chime Ring. The first time Rokha slides it onto her finger, the ring is going to meld with her flesh, vanish, and the abilities inherent in the ring will become an ability inherent in her own body independent of the ring. Where the ring did exist, a small birthmark looking liver spot on Rohka’s finger will remain in the shape of Tanroa’s symbol of an hourglass.

Rohka
  • Item: Lheroa cards
  • Ingredients: Pure Water

At the bottom of the cauldron, once the bubbling brew receded, Rohka’s deck of cards lay in pristine condition. These cards, she will find, are now completely waterproof. Rain and snow, even steam, will bead up on them and leave them untouched and undamaged. In addition, if she has a pot or vessel of impure water, Rohka can now slide a card into the vessel (provided the opening is big enough and the vessel will hold the card) and the water will be instantly purified.

Rohka
  • Item: Assassin's Dagger
  • Ingredient: A black Mask

At the bottom of the cauldron, once the bubbling brew receded, the assassin’s dagger will remain relatively untouched. However, once picked up, Rohka will immediately be filled with the knowledge that the dagger can and will appear to be anything of relatively similar size. That means, if she wills it, the dagger will take on the appearance of a stemmed flower, a fork, a screw driver, or even a fancy quill pen. Appearances can be deceiving. Regardless of how it ‘appears’ to everyone else, it will still feel like a dagger in Rohka’s hands and its effectiveness as a weapon remains the same. This means that if Rokha wills it to be a small beautiful bundle of daisies roughly the size and shape of the dagger, she can still plunge those daises into someone’s unsuspecting heart and kill them.

Kelski
  • Item: Pitch
  • Ingredient: A vial of Soulmist

At the bottom of the cauldron, once the bubbling brew receded, Pitch would remain. Once picked up, Kelski would immediately understand that along with all its already magical properties, Pitch would ALWAYS be useful and effective against ghosts, doing them the damage it would do normal humans without any additional treatments to make it ghost friendly (or rather unfriendly). In addition, Kelski would find that her dagger now allows her to sense the presence and even see ghosts lurking about even if they haven’t materialized.

Kelski
  • Item: The Metal Snake Skull
  • Ingredient: Fresh Human Brains, a Batwing, a Black, a Brown, a Pink Candle

At the bottom of the cauldron, once the bubbling brew receded, a metallic egg the size of Kelski’s head would remain. Wobbling crazy, the egg would crack and a winged metallic silver Rakanivas would emerge. This Rakanivas’ eyes would blaze with intelligence even though it was obviously a baby. Being about a foot in length, when picked up, Kelski would understand the creature has all the properties of a Rak’keli’s pets. Meaning, if the Rakanivas are fed toxins or poisons, their venom will become the anti-toxin or poison. One bite is enough, after several hours from the serpents ingesting the poison, to ready their venom, and cure even the most heavily poisoned individuals. In addition, the little creature – which was male - was filled with an intense protective urge, deep all-encompassing love, and the need to protect house and home, even the pets. He was, in essence, the perfect house guardian. The creature, even at its young age, knew its name. “Gleam!” He chanted, in the rudimentary speech of sentient infants.
