Description

Layota is a short woman standing at 5'4. She has a very tough but mothering look to her. She likes to think of herself almost like a mother figure to the Snowsongs even though many of them are older than her. Her hair is long and highlighted with subtle hints of dark pink. She is a bit rougher looking than most Snowsong Vantha. She likes to make sure people know she is in charge of her hold. Normally her eyes are a light purple but they shift through colors due to the fact she is Vantha.

Personality

Layota is the perfect example of Vantha hardiness. While she is not overtly strong, she is tough and all who know her know this. She leads her Hold with a kind hand but can be very strict if needed.

Layota is fiercely protective of her daughter, Kenava and this motherly attribute often will extend to her entire hold. Her Hold is her family and she will defend it to the death if needed (although few find a reason to put Snowsong Hold in a situation of danger).

History

Layota was the daughter of the last Pavintu Janta of Snowsong Hold, Benicaan Snowsong. He brought her up with the promise that she would be the next Pavintu Janta of the Hold, although she would have to work for it. Her father made sure she and all other Vantha of Snowsong knew there would be an equal chance for all who wanted to become leader. Layota knew she would not let anyone take the position from her. It had been her dream and although there were others who wanted to step up to the challenge, she refused to see them as a threat.

In the years following, Layota trained her skills to make sure she would be the obvious choice to be the next leader. She was already one of the best teachers in the Hold as well as a instrument crafter. There was another that opposed her though. A man by the name of Denik who was, like herself, a instrument crafter. Their rivalry was a bit harsh at first. Layota was too stubborn to back down to him and Denik refused to be shown up by a woman. They were respectful of one another. It was the proper way.

As time went on Benicaan was getting ready to pass the title of leader on. He was growing too old to run the Hold. The choice came down to Layota and Denik but in the end, Layota showed more skill than her competitor. The woman was given the title of Pavintu Janta and has served as such ever since.

A few years after becoming Pavintu Janta of her hold, Layota and her husband Morin Snowsong had their daughter Kenava Snowsong. She was their first and only child.
