Appearance

Soft green eyes laced with grey peer out from the center of a milky face. A slender nose drips towards lips such a pale pink shade, that Nabisa seems dead already. Her skin, so smooth, seems cold. Harsh, against the iridescent white scales that line her forehead; scales which shimmer a minty green in Syna's light. Framed by blonde hair braided, and bound tightly with slender ropes and colored ribbons; loose strands.

Her neck, upon which gills seem to flap, even when not underwater, glides slowly into her slender form. Her delicate grace, a beauty seemingly marred by the excess of scales that line her body. The scars of her many travels. Things which seem to have cut her down to size, for she fails to reach more than 62 inches off of the ground.

Personality

Nabisa appears just as delicate as her appearance- for the most part, she is rather soft spoken, although, if instigated, she is known to grow rough about the edges. Like the imperfect flesh of a snake. She can have a quick whit, and her mind is said to sparkle and shimmer much as her scales do. What her vast age has shown her is said to be a real gem to behold. If only, she will let you pluck everything from within the inner reaches of her mind. It is not that she is a truly guarded person, as much as she truly wishes to offer everything she has only to those who have an overall desire to know. To share her passions, the things she has come to understand over time. To master. Her best students then, tend to be those who are persistent, and have a knack for knowing the proper questions to ask at any given time.

History

On Summer 5, 389 AV, Nabisa was born to her Konti mother, and her Akalak father. Her mother, having experienced complications during the pregnancy, died shortly thereafter, leaving the girl to be cared for by her older sister, Nalia, being that her father had already returned to Riverfall to tend to his other duties. The two girls struggled through life on Mura for many years. Not because the other woman seemed unwilling to lend a helping hand, or anything of the like, but because, both, being unable to work, left them rather poor, and at times, unable to feed themselves for several days on end. Coupled with the crippling lack each girl experienced without a proper mother to look after them, and each became prone to severe bouts of depression.

Over the years however, those lingering feelings began to fade, allowing young Nabisa to pay a greater level of attention to the things she enjoyed most. As any young girl would, she spent larger periods of time upon Mura's beach, simply drawing in the sand with the aid of a stick, before allowing the higher tides to wipe everything away. At other times, she'd simply build elaborate sand castles for hours, before destroying them completely, and returning home. With the pattern repeating itself day after day, Nalia, playing the part of mother, came to realize that her younger sister may soon be able to develop a lifestyle around her artwork, if only she was pushed a little, and the skill was nurtured.

Time passed, in which Nalia saved a bit of money to buy Nabisa a gift for her birthday: charcoal, pencils, and a sketchbook. Overjoyed with the presentation, Nabisa soon filled the book, causing her older sister to buy her another, along with a set of paints the following year, so that she may try out another medium. Nabisa, was at first, surprised and perhaps, a little stunned that her sister would buy her such things, but she soon came to realize, the more she practiced, and drew of what she saw around Mura, that she enjoyed painting just as much as she did drawing, if not more.

As she got older, Nabisa began to sell a few of her paintings, helping to support herself and Nalia. But even so, chaos struck, and soon, their simple cottage was washed away by a storm, and Nalia, caught out within the madness, was lost to it. Disheartened and filled with sorrow, Nabisa decided that in order to get over her pain, she'd have to start over. Thus, she decided to take a boat from the Island to Zeltiva, at the age of 44. Once there, she came to realize that in a way, she fit in, and that she could further develop her skill by attending the university. There, she studied for many years, training her eye, and her ability with her hands to craft great works of art. There, she developed her skill until her painting professor, a human, died of old age.

For a time, the Konti wept for her, until again, she was asked, by the university to move on. At the age of 57, she was asked to replace her teacher, and gladly took the post. At first, she started with teaching novices painting, largely with watercolors. Yet, as time passed, and the university and her students grew to respect her, she took on teaching far more courses, to a widening spectrum of students.

To this day she remains, unwilling to relinquish her post.
