History and Overview

Take the tour.

The Everstone Forest is a very old landmark located in the northern regions of the Wildlands, nestled between rolling hills and a lake set in the center. The “forest” is not so much a cluster of trees as it is a conglomeration of tall stalagmites composed of limestone riddling the expanse of the hills, with a handful of trees sprouting between them as one travels along. Most of the stalagmites reach 50ft in height and nearly all of them have survived the elements and the raging djed storms of the Valterrian. Some have crumpled blocked off paths that have once been used long ago, others sport caves of many sorts for various fauna that thrive there but many of them still stand, a testament to the strange and exotic formations that sprout on the expansive world of Mizahar.

Among archeologists, the Everstone Forest is still a rather heated debate as to it's formations and existence. Some like to believe the forest was built by ancient primordial humans for ritualistic purposes, although the sheer expanse of the "forest" denotes this. Others believe the goddess Semele had a hand in forming the clusters of stalagmites to lend a helping hand for the wildlife that would normally suffer under the cruel tyranny of the elements. But many believe that it is just a natural wonder that all should enjoy, even in the midst of recovery from a catastrophic event.

Locations of Interest

Jade Pool

The Jade Pool is a natural stream pool nestled between three prominent stalagmites and derives it's name from the unnaturally beautiful quality of the water. The Jade Pool is fed by the lake of the same name, and many travelers do not miss up a chance to dive into it's depths and cool themselves off on a hot day.

Wildcat Mountain

Wildcat Mountain is a a boulder naturally carved in the shape of a cat. It stands nearly 53ft tall on a hill overlooking the Everstone Forest, a landmark that is easily identifiable and often used as a meet-up point for adventurers. Much of how it came to be is unknown, but many markings on the boulder might hint at days long past when people would contribute to the shaping of this rock in some form or another.

Serpent's River

The Serpent's River is an underground river located near the southern border of the Everstone Forest. Rumors tell of a hungry and lethal dhani group who have made their homes in this lair, eager for the arrival of the unwary traveler to make their next meal. The steady stream that emerges from the Serpent's River emits a hissing sound, perhaps, this is the reason why many a person believes such a tale.
