Scratch all that, I figured out that I just need to switch to Internet explorer, which I hate, but if I only have to use it for chat then I think I'll survive.
So yeah, my character sheet may be up, but I'm still working on it. Very intently in fact. Due to the nature of my character, and the fact that I have a particular vision for her, I've decided to learn as much about slavery in Mizahar as possible since it's highly probable that she fell victim to it. There are plenty of references to slavers and slaves, but not much that you can really sink your teeth into, unless you're enslaved to a Zith. This fact is completely understandable given the already enormous amount of information as well as the fact that the knowledge base is still largely under construction.
So I've begun compiling my own notes on slavery which currently span 5 pages, including a basic analysis on each race's potential for being or having slaves. So far the results are obvious to anyone who is familiar with the world, which isn't the case for anyone new. Here's what I've learned so far.
Almost any race can be enslaved, though in some cases you'd have to be thoroughly daft to make such an attempt. Meanwhile there are only four races that would keep slaves on a large scale (Humans, Zith, Eypharians, and Dhana). While the first three have specific mentions of slavery in their lore, the Dhana possibility is gleaned from the unofficial guide to Zinrah. The Dhana's stated psychology doesn't explicitly contradict this so I've gone ahead and included it. Individuals of any other race, probably having been raised outside the context of their own race, may hold some potential for collecting slaves but it seems highly unlikely to me.
I also took a brief look at the stances each human city might or does take on slavery. I figure that cities associated with other races will reflect that race so I didn't bother with them. The only wild cards I found are Zeltiva, Lisnar, Alvadas, and Nyka. There really wasn't enough info in the lore to make any sound determinations. IF slavery exists in any of these cities, it's probably illegal, though Nyka and Alvadas are probably long shots. Meanwhile, and this is stating the obvious, the only human cities that explicitly condone slavery are, of course, Sunberth and Ravok. If it's human and not one of those listed, then I find it highly unlikely that slavery exists due to the nature of the peoples that live there.
Beyond that I'm trying to put together information regarding what to expect as a slave among the different races/cities as well as the various ways someone might have become a slave. So far I've read every reference brought up by slave* in the wiki, not to mention the personalities and general histories of all the races. My next step is to sift through the boards, especially the RP threads, to figure out what has been established through actual play. This is going to be quite an arduous process as when searching through message text, slave* gets 596 hits among the Mizahar regional boards, along with an additional 147 when searched for among the rest (at my last check). The worst part is probably the fact that most of these hits are for brief, non-relevant mentions.
I do actually look forward to reading through some of the posts since it gives me a good opportunity to get used to the style of RP around here before I start posting, though I doubt I'll be nearly as long and detailed at first. That can really only be gained by knowledge and experience.
The other bonus side of all this work is that I'm learning a lot about the world and story, which makes me very happy. Maybe I should make my character into some sort of archivist/historian with the gift of a photographic memory, or the ability to learn history from things or people she encounters... Of course that second one is basically Lykata, which I wouldn't even know about if it didn't get a slave* hit. I also considered a form of dreamwalking for my character's Konti gift, but quickly found that it is also a Gnosis ability. A brief summary list of each of the Gnosis abilities, as well as the magic, might be in order. I really believe in easily digestible information, with the possibility to peruse more in depth info if anything is found to be relevant. I'll probably do it myself at some point, but one thing at a time.
Anyway, for the moment I'll keep the detailed notes to myself as they are incomplete, possibly inaccurate in some spots, and mostly taken straight from lore entries. Anyone who knows of, or where to find, any information specific to slavery will receive lots of love and admiration from me if they are willing to share. Otherwise, I'm just going to keep reading.
