Picture Perfection

For those of you, if there is any, who are reading this you may notice that my profile pictures kinda suck. Well dearest reader allow me to explain why. I draw my own pictures but there is a small catch. I'm not all that good, I try to get more into realism but it ends up looking like....well if a cartoonist, manga drawer, and realist had a child. It would look like my drawings. When I was very young my first grade teacher basically forced anime down our throats. But in contrast to this my mother was naturally talented in drawing realism. So I learned from both ends but I don't have a real middle ground. And since anime is easier to draw (sometimes) I do that more often than not. I kinda suck at that too so yeah. But I am kinda happy about how it turned out. At least it doesn't look as bad as my last one.

Anyway moving on. I'm thinking about asking someone else to draw the picture of Banir. I personally have this image of him with his hood down standing so that he's on an angle. His head looking off to the right with his dirty green coat moving in the wind and with a bit of snow falling. That would look SO epic! I might even attempt to draw that if I don't fall flat on my face about it.

I spied another fellow artist so I just had to post. I have the same trouble with you, that my pictures aren't always amaizing.

I think you draw well if I was to give some suggestions I'd suggest trying to add more shading. Shading gets a really nice feel of realism!
If only I could draw adult males, I'd be happy to give drawing your char a chances...

Oh, heh. Wish I would have read ur entry about that pose you wanted before :rolleyes:

But, meh at least it's something.

What I find about drawing characters is that the first time you draw them it always sucks. The more you know your character as a person and really understand them the easier it gets to draw them. :nod:

Keep trying. In the mean time maybe you can find some use for that picture.

If nothing else it's not as Alistairesque

(kept ur hair style though lol)

I like what you did and it gives me a close sense of a more realistic Banir but there are nit picks I have with it. Admittedly though you've done far better than I. And I also agree but sometimes its the lack of skill that gets in the way.

Ya I think it's really impossible to ever draw another person's character. Only they can know what a character REALLY looks like. But hopefully this will work as a loose model and an avi while you work out the perfect Banir. I very much look forward to seeing him when your skills catch up with your passion ^-^

I thank you most kindly for this, I added the shading that I thought was right for the situation. If you wish to try to draw my character I will by all means not stop you. Everything you need to know of my brutish and shy friend is on his CS
