Ok, so I'll be perfectly honest. I never ever write blog posts because I tend to rant a fair bit, something you all have not be subjected to... yet. But you're in luck, I'm feelin' the love.
So, I usually leave sites after about 2 months of play. This is usually for a variety of reasons. I hit a wall with my character or I get into a rather large argument with another player. So... why am I still here?
Let's look at some major factors shall we?
The World of Mizahar. As Tarot mentioned in his post, the setting of Mizahar is one of its strongest assets. It's not built on top of a world that already exists and it breaks with the typical traditions of a fantasy roleplay. Now this usually leaves sites in a bit of trouble because they can never develop a world that is detailed enough to sustain a varied player base. But holy crap, have the mods done a good job here. 20 races. History stretching back over a thousand years. But each area that they design has a history, it hasn't just sprung up out of nowhere. It's complex but not so complex that you can't jump straight in.
The Boss. Or in this case, bosses. A work place is usually defined by the rule of the boss. A site is no different. You could never get a more friendly, willing batch of moderators gathered anywhere else. These guys are the best. Excellent writers, brain boxes. If I said anymore I'd probably be brown nosing but you guys are just freakin' awesome.
The Players. Nutters. Every single one of you. But you're all brilliant. Those of you I have roleplayed with are great and I look forward to roleplaying with the rest of you at some point. I'm not going to name names. I don't think i really have to.
The Quality of Writing. Writing isn't all about quantity but you all know this. Posts here are more advanced than I was detailed for. I arrived here thinking I was a brilliant roleplayer based on previous sites. But boy, was I blown anyway by the sheer brilliance and vocabulary of these posts. I've really had to up my game and I've loved it. I'm most definitely a better writer than I was 6 months ago. Now, if that isn't the sign of a good site then I don't know what is.
There are very few sites that I feel compelled to donate money to. There are very few places that have a group of people who make you feel like one of the family and make you want to come back. This site is both and so much more. I'm not a religious man, that's a different story, but I feel blessed and humbled that i found this place. I have enjoyed every minute of the past five months.
So a massive thanks to Goss and Tarot for putting up with me. Another massive thanks to Kamalia, 'nuff said. A huge thanks to Gillar, Luminel, Cayenne and Colombina for every bit of work they've put in to this place. Finally but by no means least, thanks to every player who reads this, reads my posts, posts on these and makes this place what it is.
Raise your glass to Mizahar. Here's to six months of sensational storytelling and compelling characters. Let's have sixty more at least!
