Ah! so perhaps I shall do something pertinent with my blog, and use it to map my thoughts on Julius. Seems to make sense.

I do this publicly, in my blog, because I have always enjoyed the process of the development of ideas, and also as a sort of ledger: the forum I had come from often required the usage of outside citation, commonly because in any case of dispute, there existed only a standard of mediation, as opposed to any actual judgment.

A bad habit as it were.

In any case, I have a few threads I am currently in:

Making One's Way, where Julius is to get his job as a Metalsmith (I should really stop being foolish and send Cadence a PM about doing it, I just have been in need of sorting out what I needed to do though, so I can let it sit for a bit. I do so worry I pressure Cadence too much; too many plans of mine that I am trying to get going.

Threads I want to do involve fleshing out the Aldoid Family, and I thought maybe here is a fun a place as any to work them out.

The Aldoid Family actually consists of a variety of interlinked families, related by blood and marriage, that have spread themselves all across Mizahar. It is only by a strong sense of herigate that its various members keep track of one and other over the years.

In Alvadas lives Henry Aldoid and his kin. Henry is a merchant and the oldest living member of the Aldoid family at the age of 85. Dispite being a lifelong worshiper of the Ionu, Henry does not posess a gnosis mark, do in part to a certain degree of agnosticism. Henry, for all of his life, has spent his time as a merchant at sea. He is a strange mix of the characters of Ulyssyes, The Storyteller in the Jim Henson show of the same name, and The Baron Munchhausen- he is a teller of big fish tales, commonly to do with his life or the life of his ancestor, the Ypsimus, all of which tend to portray the gods as not divine beings who are spoken in tones of pious reverence, but instead as more or less very petty beings of divine power who meddle in the affairs of the innocent and are then tricked or teased at some point. As such, though he worships Ionu out of a less of a reverence, and more of a sense that Ionu is the only one who seems to be able to have a good laugh about everything. Perhaps it is for the best- as Henry does not practice magic nor possesses gnosis, he has never really caught the attention of said gods. He is also quite mindful to never refer to the god's real names directly, lest he actually call to them.

For some reason, I imagine him portrayed by the actor Brendan Gleeson, whom most know as the actor who played 'Mad Eye' Moody from Harry Potter, but also should know he did a kick-ass version of Winston Churchhill in a biopic of the former prime minster's life a few years back. In any case, he is a surly old sailor type with a heart of gold.

Be mindful though: as a wiser person then I once said "Always watch out for an old man in a profession where one commonly dies young."

Henry has had 4 wives in his time. His first wife was said to be Konti, but he speaks very little of her. His second wife, whom is Julius' grandmother was actually of the Vantha people, whom kept her eyes always blue. Something of this blueness has acted strangely non-recessive, and such, though his mother was of hazel eyes, and his father of brown, his eyes are blue.

His third wife, Wilhelmina, was a mute worshiper of Nysel, and was suspected to be somewhat insane, even for the people of Alvadas. It took Henry 15 years to realize that while he was away on voyages, she had been raising Julius only by night and on a diet of raw fish.

Juli's current grandmother is a human woman from Zeltiva named Wanda Kite, and is also a very distant relative of Henry.

The Aldoids have gotten round in history, and currently, there are 12 major familes.

The last three have no established residence. History has only been established up to the Valtarian, the progenitor of the line: Occam Al'duede, in a journal currently housed in the Aldoid family library, makes careful note of his family's history, and precise description of what is known as The Ypsimus Tarot.
