Shock and Awe. A tactic used by the military for years. It evolves a surprise that shocks the enemy into a sate of near awe as your troops move in and attack, taking the enemy completely surprised. This is not a new tactic, indeed it has been used since man could make fire. The Germans used it as a part of their Blitzkrieg and today’s police use it in the form of a Flash bang grenade.

Up until now I only know what it detailed, I only knew the facts, but now I have seen it and truly appreciate it. Not in the form of a group of heavily armed policeman breaking down my door and blinding me with a grenade, not for a group of German soldier invading my office with the use of tanks and close air support. No, I now know the true meaning of the word from a picture.

No other point to this Blog entry, but the wish that someone will read this one day and be as Shocked and Awed as I was and continue to be.

I mean think about. You've got long hours or painstaking work, re-checking and re-writing, Lets face it! I can't think of a more mentally demanding task than writing.

Then you have the physical strains, in the digital age, writing can be very hazardous. You spend years in front of a computer screen subjecting yourself to eye strain or even the loss of some eye sight. Then you've got typing, imagine this. A man sitting down hunched over his keyboard, endless typing for hours on end, to the point his fingers are bleeding to the bone.

Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating, but the point still stands! Typing for long periods of time can lead to RSI, arthritis or even worse! And this is only the Digital Age! What hope have the people who still write using a pencil and paper? Their doomed I tells yah, DOOOMED!

Then why do I do it? Why do I write at all? In fact why in all the evidence in front of us do I even RP? And, is it even worth it?

For fun?

Yes. That is exactly why I do it. I do it for the pleasure of writing a story and then saying that I did that. I write for the sake of writing. And I most certainly write to enjoy life!

However it is hard, with very little hope that at the end of it all anyone will read it or even appreciate it. But I do it any way.

But RP sites help.

I love the way that read your work and come back with something equally or more enjoyable to read. You meet and work with talented writers or even just people with an imagination and its these moments that make me keep coming back and back.

So, my long rant seems to be reaching its limit and I have still not answered the question. Is it worth it?

What!?! You didn't think I wouldn't lead you along this merry rant for a no? Its a yes! And I hope for many more years of writing, even with all its bad points. So in the words of a man I once saw on TV. Uh-hum... "BRING IT ON!" ...
