Just Getting Started by Gale Austin McCenry on July 28th, 2014, 6:06 pm
Alright! It's about time that I started one of these things. And before I begin with my very first blog post thing ever! I must say that I've never done this before. I still struggle to find the difference between a blog and a scrapbook. BUT! I don't care. I'm doing this anyway! And it's going to be very long and probably very annoying!
And to kick this blog off, I had my first Jam Session with a few other instrumentalists and singers last Wednesday.
I'm unsure of how many of you remember me talking about making my own band and everything, but whether you remember now or not, now you know. With some help with some people in my scrapbook and in chat, I have narrowed my band name choices to Ghosts Don't Sleep, Strike the Cover, and Fables Story/Ruin. I'm not officially deciding on the name yet simply because I don't have all my band members yet. And I want the band name to be something we all agree on so yeah. Right now, though, it appears we're calling ourselves Ghosts Don't Sleep, but that might change! I don't know yet!
Right, right, back to the Jam Session.
So, not too many people showed up to the Jam Session, but there were about 5 others there (2 being adults who have had their own band before) so it was pretty cool. I'm not totally awesomely fantastically good yet, let me just say now. I only know a handful of songs on the guitar and only one or two (fully) on the piano. And don't ask about the violin. The only thing I'm actually good at is the clarinet but I'm not going to play the clarinet in a band. So coming into this Jam Session, I'm not the best. I'm hardly even decent. But let me explain how things went down.
I came early. I always do. It's a habit I get from my dad. I bring my guitar, unaware they had plenty of guitars to spare. I sit down on the couch in front of the stage waiting for it to start. There are a few people already there getting... [ Continued ]

I think the one thing that is really drawing me to Mizahar is Lore Creation. Its something I've always liked to do. I can remember my senior year of high-school. Me and a friend created an solar system for our D&D game. Multiple planets, 20+ nations, 5 custom races, ecosystems, planet diameters, moon orbits, some really crazy details. Josh did most of the mathy type of details, while I worked on the history, the pantheon, how the different nations behaved, ect. Fond memories of that. And I'm looking forward to maybe dipping my feet into the water of Mizahar. And specifically, the water-dwelling Charoda. There was something about that little thumbnail and short description in the Race List that instantly drew me to them. So, my head is already abuzz with ideas, and I'm just waiting to hear from some people before I hopefully can start contributing. Huzzah!

Food. My Favorite Subject. by Shijara on April 21st, 2014, 5:53 pm
Hey, Miz.
It's me, Maria.
The diet has begun. I really don't like the term diet, because every time I say it, people scowl at me and say stuff like, "You don't need to lose weight! You're already skinny!" It's irritating. Mostly because I think we all have ideals of what we would like to see our body as. And they're right. By most people, I am considered thin. But I want to be healthy (I can't emphasize this enough, guys). I want to eat stuff that gives me energy and vitamins and all that jazz. It's true that I've craved nothing but hot fries all weekend, but I think that is just an example of the problem.
I also have a little bit of a belly pudge. It happens. I would like to get a bit more muscle, and at least make that go down. So, no, I'm not overweight, but I think I could improve. Some people want curves, some want thigh gaps, I would would like strength and endurance. Worst case scenario? It doesn't work out, I hate it, and I go from there.
Okay, sorry. /rant over.
Moral of the story: Aim for your goals. You're beautiful.
So, I went grocery shopping last night with my roommate and some buddies of ours. I bought a few things with the a little help from some friends (*breaks out into The Beatle's song*). A sneak peek:
Lean chicken breast Spinach Broccoli Tuna Wheat Bread Total cereal 2% Milk
These are a just a few of the things, but everything I bought was less than 50 bucks (that's my personal goal when I go shopping). For breakfast this morning, I had a measured out bowl of Total, a banana and a water bottle. To snack on, I measured out a few nuts to nibble on, and some more water. I think I'll make some rice and chicken tonight, maybe with some spinach.
So far, I think I'm doing pretty good. At least it's not White Castle, right? Also, I want to give... [ Continued ]
