(sex symbol) by ivy_-_ on July 5th, 2011, 1:35 am
Comments (0) [Delete] [Edit] Ivy's appearance and demeanor have been a focus of discussions, with her commonly compared to or described as a dominatrix,[73][74] and has been noted both as the series' sexiest female and one of the "most beautiful women in gaming".[50][75] She is used as a sex symbol in various third-party media, her likeness appearing in material including magazine swimsuit issue pin-ups,[76] periodicals such as Play's annual "Girls of Gaming" series,[55][77][78][79] and pornographic dōjinshi.[80] Advertisements have also focused on her visual appeal, such as Sega's television commercial for Soulcalibur's Dreamcast port.[81] Other media facets have made comparisons between her and Lara Croft in terms of attractiveness,[82] or depicted them as rivals alongside other female characters in a similar context.[83][84] Other sources have used her as a standard for a character archetype, comparing later created female characters to her design and appearance.[85] Studies on video games have noted Ivy in the subject of games "growing up", discussing the increasing popularity of "video game babes" and the reactions of men and women towards them.[86] The book Game On: The History and Culture of Videogames cited Ivy as an example of realistic character design affected by "the Japanese 'deformed' aesthetic and the global influence of cartoon animation", noting she made characters such as Lara Croft look "positively monastic" by comparison.[87] Race, Gender, Media: Considering Diversity Across Audiences, Content, and Producers used her as an example of most female characters in video games, describing her body and clothing as being created solely for the viewing pleasure of players, often males.[88] Rachael Hutchinson, Assistant Professor of Japanese Studies at the University of Delaware, described her sexualized appearance and behavior as devices used by the developers to emphasize her above-average height ... A new entry. by Julian on March 30th, 2011, 6:51 am
This is the picture I snapped of a daffodil growing in my yard. My yard doesn't have grass, for whatever reason. It has woodchips, meshed not-so-gracefully with a network of ivy that chokes off all other plantlife except for the handful of trees in my 15'x15' yard. But for some reason, this one impudent daffodil decided to grow by my walk, all by itself, as if it were standing for something. Who do you think you are, daffodil? Do you think you can change the world? Do you think somebody will see you and think, "My, what a lovely shade of yellow! Perhaps I'll go feed the homeless!" You're fooling yourself, daffodil. You can pretend you're a special little flower growing in a virtual wasteland. You can pretend it all you like until you're blue in the petals, but once you're gone, no one will remember the point you tried to make. Come on, you're embarrassing yourself. Today has felt very dreary. Perhaps it's just bad timing. Could be that Blake is sort of blaming me for having to use my car to get anywhere. It may be this stifling insecurity that seems to wrap its chokehold around every moment I'm interacting with someone else. Maybe work was too long. Maybe I didn't get enough sleep. I should really focus on writing. Julian is really showing his potential as I write him more. It's really begun to impress me how he's taken on a personality that's actually different from his father's, but with very similar elements. I'm very proud of him. It's now time to watch Star Trek Voyager. What hilarious thing will you cook up today, Neelix?

Afternoon Yellow Fevers by Sorian on December 31st, 2009, 5:44 pm
Lines and shades of light hewn features, painted blazingly by a distant hand deviate mandatorily from the fire-signed raptures of a permanent melancholy, springing in abundance upon colorful stories.. like the breaking dawn of life.
A waking bed under mystic eyes donned under contracting, undulating words, that speak of proud, makeshift smiles, gallant yet adorned by mere necessity.. The essence sewn into formality.. and the affinity, cascading down like angel feathers by the wide, bright sea.
They permeate the distance between two beating jewels, drunk with fraud and failure.. a taste of rare liquorish, and the tiniest semblance of heaven and hell in the belittling wilderness of man's animosity. |

Everything Is Okay by Gereth on December 1st, 2010, 4:44 pm
We’re living in a prison with no walls. People were afraid that wars and things would end the world, this isn’t true. There’s no great revolution coming. You know why? Everything, love, hate, passion, pity, mercy, condemnation, sinning, and sainthood is a product. You live every moment of your life with the knowledge that you don’t really have to play along with it all but you do. You do it everyday. All day.
I’m not saying I’m better. I do it too. There’s got to be a way out of it. At least that’s what I tell myself. I’m probably just doing it to feel better. There’s always a scheme though, a way around the system, a way to not play by the rules, a loophole. I need a loophole... badly.
Quiet desperation isn’t struggling to survive... it’s struggling to LIVE.
Everything is okay.
