Social Diversity by Loren on August 17th, 2010, 2:21 pm
If everyone was like me; identical appearance and identical personality traits there would be no fighting. Everyone would get along as everyone would think alike and know exactly what the other person is thinking. Life would also be extremely boring. That's not to say that "I" am boring perchance, because you can transfer this same portrait upon yourself as the clone for all to assimilate into. For me, variety is the spice of life. The many different appearances, ideas, values, perspectives and attitudes that all we humans assume are what makes life great. I grow tired of the same old repetitive thing day after day. Only through diversity does my life seem uplifting. I appreciate it and welcome it into my life. You must take the bad with the good. Appreciating diversity also means tolerance. Since everyone is different, you will encounter those people who are completely and inexplicably opposite in their ideals and values than yours. Everyone has an opinion. Flexibility of the mind is the key ingredient in acquiring tolerance. In order to appreciate Love and all that is beautiful in our world, we must also learn to tolerate and understand war and hatred. We can not have one without the other. War and Peace are two ends of the same spectrum and both must exist simultaneously. Striving toward peace is similar to striving toward perfection. Knowing you will never be perfect should not deter you from at least working toward perfection. I call this concept "Healthy Perfectionism". The same goes with peace. One must accept and realize that wars will never end. Hostility and violence are an integral part of human co-existence. Once the seeker of peace realizes this, they can in a mature and healthy manner strive towards peace. Every thing in life is both good and bad. Evil is such a strong word, but it may be substituted for bad. As the "good" inhabits the other end of the spectrum regardless of which negative term you use. Like the polarities... [ Continued ]

cardboard signs by Bolden Denusk on November 13th, 2011, 5:49 pm
This is set for only my friends to see and no worries, it has nothing to do with you my dears. I'm worried. Really worried. It started as a teeny little creeper up the back of my neck about four weeks ago, progressed to an uneasy 'I feel -something- going on.' There was an influx of new staff members and then two weeks later, an even bigger influx of new players. I dismissed the beginning as nothing more than the usual malaise that sets in this time of year. Then I saw a few of them pop up all at once within a week. When people get to together in groups of 10 or more, there are cliques. It just happens naturally that like minded people hang out together. Well the same thing for forums. I'm writing this to get out my unease and hopefully not be documenting early, a nebulous apprehension that becomes reality. Factions. It seems like a 'cool thing' or whatever word kids use these days. On my old board, the struggles became vicious popularity contests between factions and players seriously needed stern policing every minute of the friggen day and night. We'd take on more staff to handle more players, more factions and more work. The unrest grew until personal attacks and flamewars grew insanely frequent. We tried the way of the Liberal in the american political sense but it was too damn much hand holding. I'm seeing the seeds of dissension germinating and I'm nervous. I could be very wrong, and I'll admit that I'm a worrier. I make fretting an art form. I know that one of my biggest haters, player B, actually flipped out because I had the gall to say I was nervous about something in front of him. Well here's more... [ Continued ]

More roleplay! by Tarot on March 7th, 2010, 11:15 am
No, this isn't a whining entry about pushing you guys to start more threads, though those are always welcome. Cheese and whine are not my favorite dishes anyways. Alright, I got a little sad going on Google's webmaster tools and checking out the list of keywords Google gets from our site. Most of them have absolutely nothing to do with what we actually do on Mizahar - can you believe 'roleplay' isn't in the top 200 keyword list? Our top ten is... mizahar character lore blog post gnosis posts often zith magic So, we apparently abuse the word 'often' around here. Anyways, these keywords won't help us get more players from Google, so I've been making a few changes to improve the frequency of the keywords that really matter. Replacing 'play' with 'roleplay' on the menu bar was an obvious one. You should expect a few more in the near future. If you can think of places where we could easily fit a mention of words like fantasy and roleplay, then by all means let me know. We get quite a few hits from the search engines - too bad most of them are for such unrelated keywords*** that they don't help much. *** unless you consider stuff like "the world's fattest cat" to be related to Mizahar! P.S. Gossamer is #30 on the keyword list. Tarot is a humble #52.

Many Worlds by Neyasi Tillandsia on January 21st, 2014, 3:19 am
There's a place where we go, That no one else sees, Because it's entirely ours, And we do all that we please. See the lights, see the color, see the rich new wonder, There's more to this than meets the eye.
The world we live in is so plain and dull The pounding of feet on pavement, The screech of tires on asphalt And it's no wonder why we seek to make it end. But there's a better way, a much better way, that I have discovered.
See this world, the world we share, But see the world, the world we know. The sky's the ground, and space within the limit Dragons and castles and damsels in distress See these worlds we could make Worlds we could share, if only we knew how.
So pay attention, yes, pay attention, To the world inside your head. It's the most real world you need know, And it's there when you go to bed.
