The High Masha ![]() The Masha or weaving is the almost nightly gathering of Benshiras and their families, where the news of the day is discussed over good food and between music and dancing. Sometimes, there is a need for city wide discussion or announcements of especial importance. In such cases, the elders of families will be called to the place of the High Masha. During these High Mashas, the Prophet might speak or the elders will be petitioned for what manner of punishment a criminal ought to receive, if any. Only criminals with less than three witnesses to their crimes will be brought to High Masha, the rest are dealt with by the city's Yahalmen. Discontents unable to find redress from their Tent's elders will also air their grievances here. Issues are decided by timed discussion from either side complete with witnesses and evidence. The length of the discussion is dictated by the severity of the crime or issue. After this initial entreaty, elders may ask questions. Following this is a time of prayer to Yahal then a vote. To dole out punishment a majority must vote in favor. The punishment will be carried out the next morning. However, a Kiban may arise to take the guilty person's place. Kibans are those willing to receive the punishment of the guilty, absolving the criminal from further redress. Kibans are rare figures, as few will bear the punishment for a crime not their own. If the Prophet is absent, the elders will look to a temple keeper to maintain order. |
