I HAVE BEEN MADE A GRADER!

Now, this is super news. I feel pretty glad that I made it, and I'm looking forward to being able to start doing some grading. I still have reservations about my skill level in actually being able to grade, but practice makes perfect.

Hopefully in the future, around Christmas time when I have more time, I will be able to do something.

YYYYYYAAAY!

[Karin's Scrapbook] Stuff and Things

[Location]Snaps

The first impression you get when you enter this establishment are of the innumerable flycatchers, the plants of variable sizes and housed in different sized and coloured pots. It wouldn't be immediately apparent that there was anyone there, and you might even turn around to leave, but a woman would greet you and show you to a seat.

The place is highly deceptive, and from first glance there only appear to be four tables to sit at. But through the course of the evening, many more than four people enter, and they all have somewhere to sit.

The menu is brought out, and the food seems reasonable enough, a little plain maybe. However, when it is delivered, concerned patrons will soon realise that what it looks like isn't what it tastes like, in true Alvad style.

During the day, the woman who owns Snaps has a wooden stall at the Bizarre, with the same name.

NPC's: Moira Fezzle.
The proprietor is a short, plump woman with shoulder length frizzy, curly hair that is butterscotch coloured. She hails from Alvadas, and taught herself to cook from a book she found. She is 42 yrs old, and is always friendly and welcoming. She has a mischievous side which manifests whenever she gets a tricky customer: that customer will soon find some kind of prank is pulled on them.
Skills:
  • Cooking: 50

She also has cooking lores and is willing to take apprentices. She has the gnosis of Ionu.

[Location] The Nowhere House

If you are feeling bitter or sour towards someone close to you, this small, run-down house with a door forever ajar will find you. If you are the curious type, that open door will strike a chord and you will enter the house.

Inside, well. It is very dark, and the only illumination is from one small window located right above the now closed door. The single room is grimy, there is dirt and soil on the floor, and there is an unpleasant smell.

But this is not the most striking thing. That would be the three doors that you can just make out, one on each wall. Standing in the centre of the room is a badly made golem.

Although you always have the chance to get out of this unpleasant room, you are now unsure which door you came in from. The window always seems to change its position, and the doors all look the same.

On the walls are scribbles by different people throughout the ages. Some are confessions of a cheating partner. Others are taunts. Some, even, are declarations of love for a person no longer alive. They are barely discernable, unless you have a candle.

Presently, the badly made golem would speak. It only has three questions, which never change. "Do you love someone." A yes or a no would answer. "Do you hate someone." Finally, "Do you love..-" But unfortunately the final question is forever broken. If you answer the last question no, then you go to your peril, as the golem points at a door which leads to a plummet down the side of a cliff, 50 miles away on a small island. However, if you answer yes, the golem points at a different door, one that leads you to the same island, but instead to the modest house there. If you answer yes to the first question, no to the second, and yes to the final the golem will point you out the door which lead's to Alvadas, as this place isn't for a gentle soul like you. (Note: golem doesn't accept lies. Also, even if you say no to the last question, you could still survive, but you would have bad injuries from the fall.)

The small island truly is that, small. It is the size of the small house that resides there, with a metre each way. In fact, it is more of a rock than an island. The house is divided into two. One room contains a small fishing boat and tackle, and fishing nets and is in frequent use. The other room is bare, and only furnished with a small bedframe, excluding the mattress. It is high up however, the house, and the Suvan is accessible by a twisting staircase carved into the rock, which gets steadily me eroded further down. At the base of the Rock is a small cove, with a rough pebbly 'beach'. It is not for bathers though, as the water is filled with the occasional skeleton of some unfortunate soul who said 'no' to the golem.

NPC's: The Bitter Bride (Ghost)
This restless spirit has inhabited the island since as long as can be remembered. She tries to possess any person that arrives at the island. She is the ghost of a spiteful woman, who's husband realised she was cheating and set the trap to kill her.

Tarken Coolsie
An Alvad fisherman who visits once every 20 days to check on his rare seagrasses he has growing in the cove, which are his favourite delicacy. If there is anyone at the island, he will allow you free passage on his boat back to Alvadas.

Questions asked at the start of Fall 515 AV. They are how Karin would respond to the questions, and may or may not be true, depending on if she's lying to herself at all.

General Information :
1. What is your name? Karin
2. Do you go by a nickname or pet name? My Ma sometimes calls me Rin, as do the people I work with. I don't really care either way. Names are not that important to me.
3. How old are you? I was 17 this Summer.
4. What is your height? Medium height, really. I don't know precisely, nor do I care.
5. What is your weight? I'm not overweight, and I'm not too skinny.

Aesthetics :
1. Describe yourself as you see yourself. Well... I wouldn't really know where to start. I've got long blonde hair. I'm kind of slim, and I've got long fingers.
2. Describe yourself as others typically see you. I suppose around the same really. People tend to notice my expression more than anything, and sometimes I've had people telling me to stop glowering. It's funny, because I don't glower, at least, not on purpose.
3. What is your favourite body feature? Huh. Well, I suppose my hands. They're elegant in a way, and because I've got thin fingers it means I can do delicate work on my knots.
4. How physically fit are you? Relatively. Not too bad, I go swimming often so that helps. I suppose I could be more fit, but it's not something I lose sleep over.
5. How do you typically dress and what is your style? Well... In browns and neutral colours. My style is non-existent. Here the girl laughs a little.

Family :
1. Who are your parents and what are they like? My mother is Alnya and my step-father is Jovern. My Ma, well... she has a kindly enough soul, but she grates me a lot, especially with her stupid attitude sometimes. She's very motherly though, I'll give her that. My step-father on the other hand. I'd rather not talk about him. He sets my blood to boil. He irritates me, I'm sure it's deliberate. He's so much of an overlord. Always trying to get me to do blacksmithing, or tidying, or making me be 'nice' to him. He's so full of shyke.
2. Do you have any brothers or sisters? Not that I know of. My ma's never told me of any, even if they do exist.
3. What is your extended family like? Non-existent, although that could just be another lie my ma told me. Did you know, apparently I'm Svefra? Nor did I, until recently.
4. Do you consider close friends as important or more/less important than family? Friends to me are just as important as family, possibly more so. I don't have any though, so... this is mostly just speculation. The girl looks wistful for a brief moment, before putting a neutral face back on.
5. Do you treat animals like family? Animals aren't human, unless you're Kelvic, so no. I don't hold much regard for people that do anyway. It's not as if animals can converse with you, or understand you as a person.

Location :
1. Where were you born? I had presumed Alvadas for most of my life, but I was apparently born on the Suvan Sea, in aboat. I don't remember much about that time.
2. Where do you live now? Alvadas, the home of illusions.
3. If you could live anywhere in Mizahar where would that be? Oh... I would live on the Suvan Sea again. In my casinor, sailing atop the waves... that's my dream.
4. Do you have a favourite place to vacation or spend leisure time? No, well... I spend as much time as possible at the Patchwork Port, in the water. That's one of my favourite places to go in Alvadas. I haven't really travelled much though, so it may be that there is some other place that I would prefer to go for a holiday.
5. Where do you fear to be? Trapped here, in Alvadas. Or on top of a mountain or somewhere tall. I have a fear of heights which I can't really explain.

Traits :
1. Do you have any physical weaknesses (disease, scars, and missing limbs?) No.
2. Are you right handed or left handed? I'm... She mimes scribbling, trying both left and right hand out in the air. right handed. I don't write very often y'see. I'm not very good at it.
3. What languages do you speak? What do you sound like? Do you have an accent? I speak common. I don't really have an accent, but it's probably noticeable if you were a stranger. Let's see... I suppose I have an accent like some of the sailors from Syliras I've heard, mixed with a neutral, Alvadas accent. I can't really describe it. I swear quite a lot, so I do sound quite coarse.
4. Do you have any odd mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics? No. She taps her chin and thinks a little harder. I suppose I often say 'hmm', or, maybe... I tend to avoid people's gaze unintentionally when they're talking to me. I suppose that might be considered annoying, although I don' do it to annoy.
5. Do you have (or want to get) any tattoos or piercing? Why do you have them (or will get them)? I have two piercings on each ear, which I've had since I was young, I don't know why. I've always had what I thought was a tattoo, but turns out to be a gnosis mark from Laviku. Life's strange.

Occupations :
1. What is your occupation? Apprentice woodworker at Wooden Wonders Workshop. I've just recently started actually!
2. Do you like/dislike your work? Why? I like my job very much actually, although I wasn't suspecting that I would. I think it's because I get to work on boats and repairs of boats. It's bringing me closer to my goal of sailing too, so there's that.
3. If you could be anything you wanted to, what would you be? I would be... a pirate. Sailing the seas and taking what's rightfully mine. She sighs a little, with a curious smile etched on her face for a while, only fading when question five is asked.
4. What occupation do you admire the most? Why? Sailors, because of the reasons I've said above. And because I'm jealous of them for what they have. It's such a fine occupation, although I suppose you wouldn't really class it as a job as such.
5. What occupation do you least like? Why? Blacksmithing. Because my step-father is a blacksmith, and when I was younger he tried to get me to to do it, and the dirt and heat and smells were overwhelming, and he was too overbearing and irritating. I can't stand it. That most Isurian of trades. Petch it AND him.

Childhood :
1. What sort of child were you? I can't remember mostly, but I was sullen, I guess. Especially when I was moved to Alvadas, I hated my childhood. It was really miserable.
2. What is your favourite memory from childhood? I have a memory from really far back, I think it was when I was still living on the sea. It's mostly just abstract sounds and colours, but I can remember sea birds calling, and the creak of a ship. And laughter. It's a precious memory, one of the only ones I can remember of my time on the Suvan.
3. What is your worst memory from childhood? When I realised that we were staying in Alvadas permanently. That day was awful.
4. What sort of relationship did you have with your parents? A rocky one. I prefer not to speak of it. If you must know, I got on well I suppose with my mother, and with Jovern, I was polite and respectful, as I was taught to be. But I certainly didn't want to be.
5. Who was your most influential rolemodel? Hah! I don't, and didn't have a rolemodel. Maybe the innkeep that my mother sometimes visited, or anyone who wasn't me or my family.

Education :
1. What sort of education do you have? I don't have a very good education. Ma tried to teach me stuff, but I didn't pay too much attention, and anyway, she got bored after a bit. I know about general things like the Valterrian, and the Djed storms, and Alvadas and Ionu, but I don't know how to read and write properly, and I don't actually know much about magic. To me, it seems rather dangerous.
2. Do you like/dislike learning? Everything said, I don't mind it. I want to learn more actually, I want to learn about Laviku, but I don't get much chance to. I don't really know where to ask.
3. Where or how did you learn most of your skills/abilities? By doing them myself. That's the way I prefer to operate.
4. How do you learn best? By doing. If I do an action, I can understand it better. For instance, knot-working. I got some rope, and I tried it out myself. I'm very slowly starting to learn the basics, but I would have had no clue if I was reading a book.
5. What are your educational goals for the future? To learn about the Suvan, and Laviku, and Svefra. To learn how to swim even better than I already do.

Relationships :
1. Do you form close bonds with people? Why? Why not? I.. haven't. Not really. Mostly because I don't trust them enough to approach, and my social skills are lacking.
2. Do you trust people easily? If not, why not? No, I don't trust people. I suppose because of my past, but it's not that I think all people are going to betray me. I just don't bother to make friends. It's too much hassle.
3. Do you consider yourself straight, gay, bi, or something else? Straight, I suppose. I don't have much care for love.
4. Have you ever been kissed? If so, describe the first time. No.
5. Have you ever had sex? If so, describe the first time. No. I don't think I will for a very long time. The girl looks a little awkward after these more recent questions.

Drugs and Alcohol :
1. Have you ever been drunk? If so, describe your first time. I haven't. I find it repugnant, letting yourself go like that.
2. Do you like to drink on a regular basis? No, for the reasons stated above.
3. What sort of alcohol do you prefer? The non-alcoholic kind.
4. Have you ever tried drugs (mood altering substances)? If so, which kinds and what did you think of them? I haven't, but I would probably try something in the future, if I knew that I would still have at least some control of my senses. I'm quite open to exploration.
5. What do you think of drugs and alcohol? Be specific. Alcohol I detest. It smells, and causes idiotic behaviour. Also, if you're going to drink, why not choose something refreshing like water? THAT drink isn't going to eventually kill you. Drugs, I can understand some of them. Ones that cause a loss of control I could never understand, but ones that bring you closer to your personal gods, or ones that make beautiful illusions in your vision, or something... I could try those. Probably because of my upbringing in Alvadas.

Likes and Dislikes :
1. What are your hobbies? Knot-tying. Wood carving, although I suppose that's my job now, not a hobby.
2. Do you like to read? I'm not very good at it, so no. The words mostly look like gibberish to me. I also think that books are a little bit frivolous.
3. What annoys you more than anything else? I don't know if this counts as an answer, but my step-father. Non-human things? Well, I dislike getting literal cold feet.
4. What do you find the most relaxing activity to do? Swimming, definitely. It's such a stress reliever. The feeling when I'm pushing myself through the water, it's amazing, every single time.
5. What kinds of things embarrass you? Why? I don't get easily embarrassed as such, but I don't like introducing myself to people. I find that to be an awkward experience.

Favourites :
1. What is your favourite colour or colours? Blue, green, red, orange... I have a lot of favourite colours, I'm afraid.
2. What is your favourite time of day? Sunrise or sunset. I love the colours and the beginning and the ending, it's somehow quite meditative. I like to think about the past, present and future at these moments.
3. What is the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen? Along the same lines, there was one evening when I saw the most beautiful sunset in my life, one which meant a lot to me after a particularly bad day.
4. What do you like to eat? What do you hate to eat? I like to eat fish. Other meats I'm not a particular fan of, although I like lamb when I can get it. I like vegetables with peculiar names. Here the girl giggles a little, acknowledging that that is a silly answer.
5. What is your favourite type of weather? Does any kind scare you? I love the weather, in particular storms and wind. They excite me tremendously, although if they start to threaten my safety, then they do get quite scary.

Outlook :
1. Are you optimistic or pessimistic? Pessimistic, most of all. Life is a bit shyke, in general.
2. What are your religious views? I believe in all the gods and godesses. I don't have a particular god or goddess that I worship, although I try to send prayers to Ionu, it would be strange not to as I live in his city. I believe in the sea, and I want to worship Laviku, I'm just not sure how to go about it. I also have a respect for Syna, and I like to worship her from time to time.
3. Would you be able to kill? I have thought about this, and I do not think I would be able to. If it was kill or get killed, I think I would be killed. I can kill animals, but humans, no, never. Even if I hated them. It's not that I'd be scared, I just think that something as altering should be left to the gods.
4. What are your views on sex? I believe that sex is sacred, and important in marriage. I just don't think it's that important to me at the moment. I'll think about it later in my life, thank you.
5. What, in your opinion, makes a successful life? Being happy, having some mizas, being able to do the things you want to do.

Actions :
1. What is the worst and best thing you’ve ever done? The worst thing I have ever done? I really don't know yet. The best thing- getting a job. It's been a tremendous experience so far, and one which has given me a lot of hope for the future.
2. What is your greatest regret? Not standing up to my step-father more. So many times I've wanted to call him out, and I've not been able to do it. One day that will change. And I feel that day is soon.
3. What is your best/worst memory? Best memory is that memory of my childhood that I told you about earlier. The worst memory is realising that I was staying in Alvadas permanently. Both a quite huge events to me, even if I can't remember the good memory very well.
4. If you could change one thing about your past, what would it be and why? That my mother never met Jovern, and that I'd stayed on the Suvan.
5. What are you the most proud of doing in your life? Saving money to buy a casinor. I haven't got far yet, but my life finally feels like I could get somewhere important.

Emotions :
1. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings with others? I try not to let people know what I'm thinking about them. It would only lead to trouble.
2. Do you have any biases or prejudices? Well, I hate all Isur with a passion, if that counts, but I think they hate us all anyway, so what difference does it make? I'm biased towards Sevfra, but after all, I am one. I can't help it.
3. What makes you happy? Swimming, or exploring new scenery. Despite my obvious dislike of Alvadas in the answers to the questions above, I have grown quite fond of its changeable nature, now that I know I can escape it.
4. Who or what, if anything, would you die for? I wouldn't die for anyone or anything. I'm quite glad to be alive, thank you.
5. What makes you angry? My father. Or idiocy. I don't like people who pry at my circumstances.

Relationships :
1. In general, how do you treat others? I suppose I treat them well. Maybe I don't really keep them close, but they wouldn't enjoy a friendship with me anyway.
2. Who is the most important person in your life, and why? Myself, which sounds incredibly big-headed, but I don't like to rely on others.
3. Who is the person you respect the most, and why? Cadog my carpenter boss. He's so calm and collected, and extremely skilled. One day I want to have his level of calm and technical skill.
4. Do you have a spouse or significant other? If not, describe an ideal lover. The question makes her visibly awkward. An ideal lover, would be someone who trusts me, and loves me. A Svefran man with a free spirit. I don't have many stipulations.
5. Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why? Nobody. I trust myself to protect myself, and if I fail? Well, then I only have myself to blame.

Group Situations :
1. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict? I try to avoid conflict if possible, I hate arguing. I also find it's pointless to argue when there are better things to do with your time than wasting vocal chords. I only ever lose my cool with my step-father.
2. Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations? I don't want to lead people, and I don't want to follow people. I prefer to follow my own path.
3. Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not? I dislike large groups of people, because I prefer to work by myself. I don't have a sheep mentality.
4. Do you care what others think of you? No, as long as they don't think I'm stupid. I don't care about what other people think of me. Maybe I do a little, I want them to like me, I want to be respected and treated well, but I don't think about it too much.
5. What do you think of others, in general? I tend to think well of people, until they show me otherwise. I mostly have a blank view of strangers, I grow an opinion of them as I get to know them.

Self Image :
1. What is your greatest strength as a person? My patience, I think. I'm patient to a fault.
2. What is your greatest weakness? Bottling up of emotions. And also, I'm quite weak, really. I find it hard to keep my emotions in check, which is why, if there's anyone around, I tend to bottle everything up. It just makes it easier.
3. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I sometimes which I could look my age. Only sometimes though, mostly it's useful.
4. Are you generally introverted or extroverted? Introverted, but that doesn't necessarily mean I'm shy, I just prefer my own company most of the time.
5. Are you generally organized or messy? Organised most of the time, but if there is mess, I don't feel compelled to clean up.

Beliefs :
1. What God or Goddess do you find most appealing, if any? Laviku. The god Laviku is most appealing to me.
2. Which God or Goddess do you fear, if any? I don't fear the gods... apart from Laviku. A recent fear is that he might remove my gnosis. I believe that as long as I am respectful, they will leave me alone. And why would I curse the gods?
3. Do you have any Gnosis Marks? If so, how did you receive them? I have an Oceanus gnosis, which I think I received at birth, me being Svefra being the reasoning.
4. What lengths would you go to please your deity? I would go quite far, to be honest. I'm merely touching the surface as to how far I would go. The gods need to be kept happy, so...
5. Where do you draw the line at pleasing your deity? What is too much? Too much is offering my life for him. I wouldn't do that unless I had no other choice.

Life & Death :
1. What do you absolutely live for? I live for life, as stupid as that sounds. I want to live, explore and discover the world.
2. What is the best part of life? Exploration and the natural world. Being free is particularly appealing to me.
3. What is the best part of death? The best part of death would be... well, I've not really thought about this question, but I suppose it'd be the most extreme form of being free, being free from life's restraints. And an exploration of the afterlife, if there is one.
4. If you could choose, how would you want to die? I would want to die either in a storm or by drowning, being embraced by the cold waters and slowly drifting to endless sleep. It seems a fitting way to go for a Svefra.
5. What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death? I would like to be remembered for my free spirit, or perhaps if I get good enough, for my boat building. I would like to make ships to sail the Suvan in my name. In that respect, I would be immortal.

[For my own reference and remembrance]

Karin- all threads from 10/7/17 will now be marked as open. This is due to the small, settlement aspect of the city and the highly likely chance that PCs would stumble across each other during the course of the day. Threads that will not be marked as open are closed threads between myself and another player.
