The Kanvi Squid (sing. and pl.), named for being endemic to the Kanvi Whirlpool area known as Laviku's Throne, is a unique type of cephalopod that has adapted to living at the base of a maelstrom. They are also known for their symbiotic relationship with the Nursery Shrimp, who protect their eggs while the Kanvi Squid roam elsewhere.

Physical Characteristics
Kanvi Squid bear a resemblance to most other types of squid, with bilateral body symmetry and a long, elongated head. They also possess a set of tentacles which spout from near the base of the creature's body. They possess the ability of dynamic camouflage, able to change the color of their skin in a instant, usually achieving a myriad of lurid and startling colors. This color change serves many a purpose, from being used in mating to helping flee from predators.
Social Structure
Kanvi Squid are unique to the Kanvi Whirlpool and are not able to function as well when removed from said environment. They exist at the top of the strange food chain that exists there, both metaphorically and literally; they patrol the higher levels of the whirlpool, eating on new arrivals and fish of the lower tiers. They are very social creatures and are known to gather in large groups, sometimes existing as a singular entity all across the maelstrom, with no real alpha or pack leader.
They do have a sort of symbiotic relationship with the Nursery Shrimp, who in return for guarding the squid's eggs from predators are allowed to eat the dead, unhatched ones.
Eggs
The Kanvi Squid egg is known for being delicious and is a prized delicacy among the races of Mizahar, primarily the Svefra. The presence of the Nursery Shrimp means that it is hard to get even a single egg away from their rightful owners, but enterprising Svefra have been known for swimming to the bottom of the Kanvi Whirlppol in an attempt to gain hold of even a single egg.
