You're writing a novel? We have something in common there, although you seem to have put much more effort into it already (only about six months here). Would be nice if we could share advice or just have a nice talk.
Also, I learned British English in school, but switched to American English when starting writing RPGs ... I just adjusted to the majority of the playerbase. I don't really care about spelling either. ^^
