Caiyha and Malediction

Postby Liandra on January 6th, 2012, 4:47 pm

Another question for you guys, and gals. How does Caiyha and her followers feel toward the practice and use of Malediction? I ask because I was curious about it, and after reading the associated lores, and thinking on it myself, I realized that Caiyha's feelings could go two ways. I could see her condoning the responsible use of it in that it would be using the body of a creature for more than food and thereby not wasting anything.

On the other hand, I could see her also being against it due to the 'misuse' of creatures' remains and removing elements from the balance of food, prey, and predator.

Discuss, let me know what you think.

Caiyha and Malediction

My guess is that she's okay with it, although I'm unsure myself. The Myrian lore page says that they worship Caiyha, and the Myrians also wear tokens of their victims in their hair and possibly their clothes. It would probably be best if a founder answered this, though.

Caiyha and Malediction

Postby Liandra on January 14th, 2012, 7:24 pm

I can easily accept that she would not be okay with it, after all it was one of my theories. Could I get some reasoning supported by lore though? And then afterward, can we get it added to either Caiyha's page or the Malediction page?

Caiyha and Malediction

Postby Cayenne on January 14th, 2012, 7:56 pm

Reasoning:

For all that Malediction uses some natural components, it is a deeply unnatural magic.

Caiyha is closely intertwined with Dira and Kihala, the Goddesses of Death and Life respectively. Things must die so others can live. In nature, nothing is wasted. All of it feeds an ever-revolving cycle of life and death. Death is not disrespectful in nature. It's a necessity. The departed is consumed and life carries on.

Malediction, it could be argued, shows no respect for the dead - harvesting body parts and forcing those body parts, through magic, to extend beyond it's natural lifespan through surreal means.

That being said, Mizahar is still very young. I would just like to point this out to you. We have not heard every single possible connection in theory that encompasses THOUSANDS of pages of lore, and as such, sometimes we have to answer on the spot, and when we do, please don't ask us to 'back it up with lore'.

We made the God in question. Trust us. We know how they feel about it.
