New Feature Introducing The Players Guide Forum!

(This is a thread from Mizahar's fantasy role playing forum. Why don't you register today? This message is not shown when you are logged in. Come roleplay with us, it's fun!)

IC News travels slowly in Mizahar. Fortunately there is a constant stream of news from around campfires, from caravan to caravan and from merchants to merchants. Within this forum lies the best of the best of this talk. Also, within this forum, OOC news from the staff and players can be found. This forum requires all posts to be 'approved' by a Founder before they are displayed. So if you post within, be patient. Your post did display - it simply will not show to everyone until approved as actual 'news'. Please keep all Introductions, Status Updates, and various other discussions in their appropriate forums and leave this area for game news!

Introducing The Players Guide Forum!

Postby Gossamer on July 28th, 2013, 5:33 pm

Greetings Mizaharians!

I'd like to introduce a new project/feature/forum for everyone. Please welcome Player Guides! We've gotten all kinds of requests in the past for Player Guides and we frankly don't have enough time to write them. But there is a need! So we thought we'd open up the floor and let people take a shot at writing one or two. They don't have to be long things, but they can indeed be very helpful for new people. These Player Guides aren't necessarily intended to be guides to cities. The moderators of cities should have a good grasp and have Codex's posted for each domain forum.

What a good Player Guides should do is assist players in learning how to do things. These guides will expand the knowledge in the wiki considerably, especially those written for races. Ironically the first two staffers lunged on doing were nuits and ghosts. But player guides can be written about all sorts of things! How do you shop in Mizahar? Buying stuff or unsure about the acquisition of goods and services? Often new people have no idea how do this. Someone should write a player's guide about it. You could write a guide on getting wiki permission and utilizing the wiki. Someone could work on a guide about the proper care and feeding of NPCs. Traveling in Mizahar? Banickle suggested someone write a guide for it. Horse and other Mount Care in Mizahar? Someone could write a guide. The sky is pretty much the limit.

So to facilitate handling this need, we've created a Player Guide Forum so that folks have a way to post a question "Is this worthy of a guide?" and hold a discussion about it. Eventually they need to seek HD permission and formalize the article, move it through the Peer and Founder Review processes, and get it posted. We'll keep a list there of who's working on what so folks don't get redundant.

The following post is the intro to the Player's Guide Forum. It's located in this thread: http://www.mizahar.com/forums/post293323.html#p293323

Regards,

Gossamer

In this forum, folks are welcome to start threads and discuss topics they would like to see turned into Players Guides. We'll also be keeping track of who's working on what in this thread. I know since the Staff talked about opening up this idea, we have had a couple staffers step forward and call dibs on working on special projects. The list is as follows.

  • Nuits - Mirage
  • Ghosts - Radiant

Look for their threads to be posted soon discussing what should be included. If you want to write your own PG, please start a thread here to discuss it. You must get final permission from the HD to actually start the PG based on the discussion here or your ideas posted in the HD. Once PG's are completed, like other WD articles, they must move through the Peer Review Forum and Founder Review Forum before they go into the Wiki.
